So rather than a name that evokes memories of slavery they gone for a name that sounds like a company from the 1850s that wove Asbestos blankets?

Let's use an unnecessarily long name that conjures up nothing to do with pancakes or breakfast.

This is a stupid name. And this is clearly an example of a senior executive with a big ego that no one else feels they can say anything against.

Nobody in the world would look at this and say - hmmm...good choice.

And from my perspective - Pearl isn't that far of a leap to think that is describing an old black woman too. It's an old fashioned name, like Jemimah. I have no association of this with an actual Pearl from the ocean or pearls being grown down with sand over time.

Isn’t there a brand called Owings Mills or something? Tens if not hundreds of thousands in marketing research and I’m sure some of the best people in branding working on this and this is what they arrive at? My 80 year old grandmother could have come up with a better name, it’s as if someone really wants this to fail and go away.

I prefer Triangle Shirtwaist Syrup.
