64 and no gray hair? He's gotta be dyeing that hair. He does look good, though.

I went to his cabaret in San Francisco a few years ago to see Lorna Luft. Rumour was Liza was coming to the show and damned if she didn't show up and sit at the table directly behind me! Feinstein asked her to sing a song at the end of the show. She stayed at her table and sang "I Love a Piano". It was awful and completely wonderful at the same time. Gayest night of my life. Well, I did see a Charles Busch show at 54 Below and Michael Musto, Robert Osborne, Rex Reed, and Christine Ebersole were in the audience so, maybe the second gayest night of my life. Well, I did see Joan Rivers, Isabella Rosellini, Martin Short, and Victor Garber one night at "End of the Rainbow". I've led a pretty gay life...

Michael Feinstein doesn't color his hair the same as I don't color mine.

A bad dye job can be spotted a mile away. Always too dark and no lighter shading. Local newscasters are the worst.

After many years, and several price chops Michael Feinstein finally unloaded his L.A. property.

R19 thats actually really nice, and he did well to unload before COVID, he wouldnt get 15.2 mill for it now NYC is so fucked. Beautiful interiors in that joint
R20 house looks great, but cant get past the paywall to see inside. If its as nice as his NYC place it'd be stunning

There's nothing wrong with dying your hair, OP. As long as its done properly. Even if it isn't, it's hardly cause for comment in this day and age.

Justin Trudeau is the worst. The lighter colour he had a couple of weeks ago was better.

R22 if a guy is cute, like Trudeau, he can get away with it. He can still get it, dyed hair or not

Isn't men's hair dye linked to multiple myeloma, a blood cancer?

Dyeing - Changing the color of one's hair.
Dying - Ceasing to be alive.

How the hell did he acquire that kind of money? Did he inherit family money? It's not like he's even remotely a big name star. Playing small dinner clubs does not make you that much money. Outside the gay community I doubt 80% of people even know who he is.

Not sure about the LA home, but Michael Feinstein and his partner/husband purchased the UES NYC mansion back in 2004 and 2006 for around $7 million. They took two townhouses and combined them into one, which suppose factored into them trying to sell several years later at nearly $20 million.
Couple had at one point at least three homes, but that doesn't mean they paid all cash for any of them.

Men or even females who keep their hair cut short as Michael Feinstein can color frequently as required without worrying too much about damage. Every time things are trimmed (cut) hair that is over processed, damaged or otherwise compromised is removed anyway.
Usually to avoid looking like Eddie Munster or Herr Aschenbach after that trip to Italian barber, a lighter color will be used around hairline, this and or bit of gray left at temples. You want to break up a solid line of dark color which looks harsh and does total opposite of that older people assume, it makes them look older.
Don't care if you were raven's wing dark black as a youth, by time most people hit 40's or certainly 50's it is time to kiss darker shades of brunette good-bye.

Progressive hair dyes such as Grecian Formula that contain lead acetate are associated with cancers. But sadly for American consumers what passes for drug and cosmetic regulation by the FDA is a joke. It's all about money, and unless or until there is a major health disaster drug/cosmetic makers nearly always win in keeping their products on shelves.
Chemicals and other substances long banned in consumer products sold in Canada and Europe still remain in USA. Best thing consumers can do is educate themselves to decide if risks are worth taking.

They do say certain chemicals found in hair dyes years ago (and or are still there) can cause cancer. Tongues wagged and still are wagging that Jackie Kennedy's use of hair dye to keep the grays away from her brunette hair was the cause of cancer that caused her death.
Hair colors of old like Loving Care and others contained some rather suspect ingredients such as coal tar dyes, but they nailed grey or white hair even in semi-permanent formulas. Clairol and rest while vigorously denying their products had any sort of adverse health effects gradually either withdrew suspect hair coloring products from USA market. This or things were reformulated to remove or at least lower concentration of suspect substances.
Outcome of all this is complaints from both consumers and hair dressers that semi-permanent hair coloring today are shit for dealing with all but minimal amounts of grey hair. Where Loving Care of old would lay down color over 85% or more white hair, Beautiful Browns barely can cope with 10%, and even there it will wash out mostly with first few shampoos.

Taken with a grain of salt, according to this website Michael Feinstein has a net worth of $70 million.
Keep in mind we don't know (but one at least is presuming) Michael Feinstein and husband financed their homes in LA and NYC. Both sold for very decent sums which even with substantial mortgage debt to be paid off, what remained would have left a decent return.
Couple's primary residence is in Carmel, which has a vastly lower COL than either LA or NYC

It sounds like he may be skimming from that foundation. Really, why does it take years and years to create a museum dedicated to the great American songbook?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 11, 2021 11:20 AM |
He knew a lot of old broads. Could they each have left him substantial sums when they croaked?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 11, 2021 11:34 AM |
Think museum project started years ago by Michael Feinstein, the recent bequest was a gift in aid of effort.
Nothing unusual about that, wealthy have long bequeathed portions or all of their estates to establishing foundations. Doris Duke comes to mind among others.
