Her books were massive hits.
Why no subsequent movies?

The books are shit, OP.

Cause she was a crap writer who little old ladies who adored Murder She Wrote had book groups about.

There should definitely be a Kay Scarpetta series of movies.

At one point, Streep, Foster or Stone were wanted for Dr. Kay Scarpetta, but the material was considered too grim. Now that serial killer genre could be on Disney+

Same reason there were no Sue Grafton movies: V. I. Warshawski.

They sold millions. It’s doesn’t matter if you think they’re crap.
Heck even 20 Shades of Grey was made into a movie or two

The Author herself maybe be responsible. Maybe she is difficult or has so many requirements to get the rights it's impossible. But I'd make another pass at it now because there are so many more platforms and there is a need for content.

I read the first four or five and then needed to take a break. At the time they were a bit different, but the serial killer genre became pretty over-saturated. I have heard the books declined in quality as time went on and too much personal drama.
As much as I did enjoy the books I read (I think I read through Body Farm), her Jack the Ripper book was not great to say the least.

I never cared about Lezzie Lucy.

I kind of pictured her as Helen Mirren, probably because it was right around the time of Prime Suspect.

Wasn't there a short-lived TV series?
The truth is, the first few books are decent, the rest are absolute crap... and Cornwell is too batshit to trust with involvement in a major protect with a big budget.

R7 is right: she is difficult.
