R16, a black man was killed by a cop in my town a few weeks into the BLM protest. The police were in high alert fearing marches and possibly riots. No one from the black community said a thing. The reason? He was actually pointing a gun at the police. BLM was not protesting cops killing a suspect if their life is actually in danger. No, shooting more rioters would NOT have been better. It would have lead to the armed insurrectionists firing, probably wildly, and there would have been massive casualties that would have lead to the "the rioters didn't deserve to be shot" narrative, muddying the waters and making it seem like they were victims. We'd be flooded with images of mass casualties and blood all over the Capitol building. The damage it would have done to our morale alone would have been incalculable.

The brief twinge of satisfaction you get from daydreaming about brains splattered all over the Rotunda isn't worth the damage it would have done to the country as a whole.
