How very tasteful of Melissa to trash Cicely Tyson just days after her death

I dare you to ask Half Pint her thoughts on Shannen Doherty!

You need to learn how to read. She said this in her book a long time ago. That no-name site even says so - they’re the ones bringing it up.

It's from her book r1, so Miss Tyson could have read this when she was alive.
Tyson was a great actress but this doesn't surprise me. She dated and married Miles Davis, so she was obviously no picnic herself.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 2, 2021 3:05 AM |
Miles Davis supposedly regularly beat the shit out of her (Cicely).
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 2, 2021 3:08 AM |
R4 Exactly. I believe it too.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 2, 2021 3:09 AM |
I'm sure Miles Davis was awful. But I doubt that shitbra was no picnic.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 2, 2021 3:10 AM |
Tyson was a great actress. Melissa---what has she done recently? Was she any good as a union leader?

I’m sure NONE of them were any picnic.

Richard Pryor said that Miles Davis was gay and he walked in on him kissing another famous Jazz musician.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 2, 2021 3:15 AM |
They costarred in a TV movie just a few years earlier.
Richard Pryor said that Miles Davis was gay and he walked in on him kissing another famous Jazz musician.
Richard had his own gay moments to worry about, including sleeping with a transsexual.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 2, 2021 3:18 AM |
At least she didn’t put out some phony statement when she passed like so many other people do with costars that they didn’t even get along with.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 2, 2021 3:21 AM |
A confirmed coke whore is hardly a reliable narrator.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 2, 2021 3:21 AM |
Tyson had resting bitch face for decades. She was an OK actress. That's way she wasn't in all that much.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 2, 2021 3:28 AM |
Well that does it, I'll be boycotting her chicken...no more Tyson chicken for me.

Richard openly owned his bi sexual tendencies R12 .
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 2, 2021 3:42 AM |
Pryor reported on walking in on Davis with Dizzy Gillespie. It's well known Davis was bi.

I do love that the Go Gos used to call her Half Gram
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 2, 2021 4:37 AM |
Melissa was not known to get along with costars, even at an early age.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 2, 2021 4:42 AM |
Cicely was beautiful and talented, but I can buy her being an imperious bitch.
Still, Melissa really comes across as a spoiled cunt. Her editors probably had to warn her she couldn't refer to Cicely as "an uppity Negress."
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 2, 2021 4:42 AM |
1. Miles Davis was reportedly on AZT at the time of his death.
2. I heard several reports that Cicely never played a slave or a maid. Um, I guess they forgot the Lesbian Love Tale, "Fried Green Tomatoes" where she played Sipsey, the maid.
3. Melissa Gilbert, Alison Argrim and others have reported how professionalism was stressed by Landon on the "Little House" set. Melissa was well within her rights to be pissed at a diva who held everyone up.
4. Cicely was another professional liar. For years her reported year of birth was 1933. Now that she's dead, she was born in 1924. I heard Vanessa Williams say she would never reveal her age.

Maybe true, but I loved her chicken.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 2, 2021 2:42 PM |
Melissa's a drama queen who never takes accountability for her own actions. Her whole book is one big tale of victimhood with a cast of characters who did her wrong.
R23 I highly doubt the woman who was nicknamed "Half Gram" at one point was always the height of professionalism herself. Valerie Harper didn't have such nice things to say about her and how she conducted her SAG campaign.

Cicely was in one decent film (Sounder) and a few TV movies/miniseries (Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, Roots). Nothing she did after the 1970s, with the possible exception of Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, is especially memorable and certainly not deserving of an honorary Oscar (maybe an Emmy or Golden Globe). She lived a long time and knew lots of remarkable people, but she’s no Alfre Woodard.

I read here that many years ago, discussing celeb sightings, one member posted they encountered an angry Melissa Gilbert coming out of a store arguing with her two young kids. Supposedly she threatened the son with, “Don’t make me hit you with the shit bra!”
This lead to stories about her routinely filling the cups of an old bra with her shit and wielding it on her kids.
It might have made the pages of [italic]Good Housekeeping,[/italic] too.

I LOVE hearing that Cicely was a bitch! Does that now make her a gay idol?
2. I heard several reports that Cicely never played a slave or a maid. Um, I guess they forgot the Lesbian Love Tale, "Fried Green Tomatoes" where she played Sipsey, the maid.
"Um," Sipsey was the cook not a maid or a slave so technically that's correct. She didn't play one.
She fried the "fried green tomatoes" and was considered to be part of their family which was part of the point.

R1 is completely wrong so everyone on DL rushed to WW him, as is tradition, apparently.

A famous actress was a CUNT?
Well, I never in all my life!
Nonetheless, be classy, OP. Wait a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 2, 2021 5:47 PM |
Didn't Tyson play Miss Kizzy (Kizzie?) in Roots? Wasn't Kizzy a slave? She spit in Sandy Duncan's water as revenge for Sandy pretending not to recognize her childhood playmste, Kizzy.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 2, 2021 5:55 PM |
Cicely Tyson played the mom in Africa... not young Kizzy on the plantation later.

Gurl after that long in the business you've got a be a cunt. Not surprising.

"Richard Pryor said that Miles Davis was gay and he walked in on him kissing another famous Jazz musician."
Richard Pryor said a lot of crazy things. He was nuts. His word counts for nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 2, 2021 7:40 PM |
Miles Davis was gay. This was not a secret, no one needs Richard Pryor's confirmation.

Half-pint is a little bitch. Her own brother wants nothing to do with her. I think she is bitter about her nothing career after Little House.

In her recent autobiography, Cicely Tyson depicts Davis as a serial adulterer with white women ("For someone who supposedly couldn't stand whites, Miles sure kept a rotating cast of them in his bed") and also mentions that she was aware of decades-long rumors that another lover was his male hairdresser, Finney. Not long after their marriage Tyson insisted Davis always wear a condom because she was afraid of getting an STD; later she learned he had herpes and stopped kissing him. For years he flagrantly cheated with a young white neighbor, who made the mistake of smirking at Tyson outside the door of their building, and, "Well honey, she should not have done that because the next thing I knew that woman was on the ground."
Tyson says Davis hit her just once. In spite of his cheating and their tumultuous marriage, they shared a lot of laughter, love, and forgiveness. One of the funniest anecdotes is their final epic fight, where she plays Neely O'Hara to his Helen Lawson and rips off his weave. At the end of the book, she says he was the only man she ever really loved.

How sad Cicely admitted to loving a man who abused her, mentally and physically. People need to love and respect themselves. Why is respecting yourself so difficult for some many people. I have many friends and family members, straight and gay, who remain in abusive relationships. Mental abuse is as bad a physical abuse. All the money in the world isn't worth being with an abusive partner.
I find so many people are in relationships for all the wrong reasons: they fear being alone, they need constant attention and affirmations from another person, they need someone to financially support them and so many other terrible reasons why a person is willing to put up with abuse.

The lovely Lesley Uggums who is NOT dead did spit in Sandy Duncan’s glassy eye.
Miles Davis was the first POC I heard who said he hated white people. It was the late 80s and my reaction was, “But, we’re the good guys.” Fuck, I was stupid.
If Half Gram’s children ever learn to write, I’m sure there will be a “Brittle Whore, So Contrary” joke.
