GOP Fearful That Dems Are Making Marjorie Taylor Greene the New Face of the Republican Party

Republicans, let me make this super easy for you: All you have to do is not be fucking psycho.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 1, 2021 3:49 PM |
She IS the face of the party. She's RepubliCUNTS personified.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 1, 2021 3:49 PM |
She IS the fucking face of the GOP! As has already been stated: When you attack a Liz Cheney (who is a cunt, that's not in doubt) for taking her oath to the constitution seriously rather than swear fealty to a buffoon with dictatorial aspirations, but this psycho who thinks school shootings are fake, not only gets no push back from the GOP, but gets on a god damned education committee, then own it!
She is your ugly face. She is the bounty you have produced from your decades of bigotry, racism and greed.

[QUOTE] so she's the Republican's AOC?
That will be the analogy for the lazy and uninitiated, but it’s unfair to compare AOC with this floozy. AOC has not said or done anything nearly as obtuse and incendiary as this blonde-haired sow.

[quote] Republicans made her the new face of the GOP. They allowed this by sucking up to Trump. They did it to themselves. Fuck them.
It was more cynical than that even. They thought they could have their cake and eat it too by harmlessly co-opting Trump’s message that the election was stolen while getting rid of him at the same time. A buy one, get one free, if you will. Instead, the former has been anything but harmless and the latter has yet to materialize.
Honestly, they deserve it. I know they think that they will win majorities in the midterms but at this point I don’t see it. I think they truly don’t understand what an albatross Trump and the Capitol protests are for them. And they seem to be embracing an austerity agenda which absolutely zero people want right now.
They’re a fucking mess.

Classic shitty cover for GOP in the press. The GOP have total control in whether she is the face of the party. Every single GOPer in office could denounce her. Heaven forbid Politico hold the Republican Party accountable for anything.
[quote]so she's the Republican's AOC?
Only to the "both sides!" idiots. AOC is a serious politician, who can talk policy and whose ideas (whether you like them or not) are squarely within a competent political spectrum. Greene is a shitposter in the facade of a politican.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 1, 2021 4:27 PM |
Stop hissssssing R13
Many people have been making the comparison, not because AOC is nuts like MTG, but because the GOP uses AOC to scare Deplorables into supporting them by pretending AOC has widespread influence.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 1, 2021 4:28 PM |
R13 I took the comment to mean: A loud and controversial voice at the edge of a political party. Yes she wants to murder while AOC wants to lift us up however BOTH are driving the discussion--at least in the media.

[quote]Many people have been making the comparison, not because AOC is nuts like MTG, but because the GOP uses AOC to scare Deplorables into supporting them by pretending AOC has widespread influence.
It's still a bogus comparison. AOC is more comparable to a Justin Amash--outsized press coverage compared to their power within the party. Greene's press coverage isn't outsized--she represents a serious threat.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 1, 2021 4:31 PM |
I hope the fallout results in more repubs changing parties....like in R12's post. Let it happen!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 1, 2021 4:33 PM |
Except for most people, Justin Amash who?
MTG: cray beyond compare
AOC: too young to run for President
Hmm. I guess we know them both by their initials.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 1, 2021 4:36 PM |
R18, but that's you. AOC has in fact been treated as though she is some "radical" "insane" "far-left" voice - and that view has been pushed here at every turn by so-called "moderate" Dems, not just as a boogeyman for the right-wing. Countless threads about her acting as though she is the enemy. I find her a bit irritating, but she is no way the counter to this woman in the way most do mean it.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 1, 2021 4:36 PM |
She IS the new face of the Republican Party - she announced last week she had a phone conversation with Trump and he expressed total support for her.
So she's explicitly backed by Trump. At this point, that makes her just about the powerful person in the Republican Party. Who else can say that? The Trump maniacs will automatically treat everything she says like the Ten Commandments.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 1, 2021 4:42 PM |
I wish the media wouldn't give her so much coverage. Didn't they learn from trump?....or, all they care about are the clicks and ratings.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 1, 2021 4:51 PM |
MTG needs to stay in Congress.
Pelosi should make sure Greene and other Republican loons stay front and center as the face of the New Republicans.
Greene,Boebert,Cruz et al are invaluable in their role helping voters in the suburbs back away from Donald Trump's Republican QAnon Party.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 1, 2021 5:02 PM |
MTG will run for Senate in 2022 against Raphael Warnock, ensuring that he's there for another 6 years.
The current people running the Republican party seem to have no self-awareness, humility, or ability to be introspective. There never seems to be an analysis of "we lost all three branches of government in four years, so what can we do to change it?" Mitt Romney tried that in 2012 with their GOP autopsy, and they just blew that off and went full speed ahead for Trump. It's like a gambler's mentality, they just keep doubling down at the roulette table.
But of course it is all Pelosi's fault that this crazy cunt is still there, not the GOP--that's the media's attempt to mollify the crazy base and stir up shit against Pelosi.

Who cares? That’s totally not the point r4 was making. AOC has a brand new and super junior legislator that the republicans went around saying WAS the Democratic Party. And now the democrats are doing the same thing with this vile piece of work.
The really big difference is, AOC actually established a national presence for herself. She’s very attractive, outspoken, and calculatingly controversial. This specimen snuck in largely unnoticed until the democrats picked up a rock and found her slithering under it.

So it's our fault????If she becomes the face of the Trump Republican Party, it is because THEY have made it so. Stop waiting for them to, "DO SOMETHING!" They are doing something. We are the ones who refuse to recognize them for what they are. First they're cowards. So they will be pussies about it, but they agree with Trump, they agree wit the White Supremacists and they like the direction the party is going. They still think they're going to figure out a way to block the Dems and then win everything back in 2022. And they think they can ride that old whore in Mar A Lago all the way back into power.

McConnell complains, as with many other repubs, but never do anything about it. Just lip service . They did that with trump, too. There's too much power behind trump, even now, to let that go. Party over country...regardless of the cost in the long run.

The Repukes won’t do anything about her until she is such a liability that they can’t ignore her any longer. By then it will be too late.
What they fail to appreciate is that the base of their party — old, white, disaffected haters — is shrinking not growing. Yes, there are younger people who fall for this nonsense, but it is a small group of people who want to be identified with these jerks.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 2, 2021 12:34 AM |
They need to wake the fuck up. Republican members of Congress outperformed Trump. He has no coattails. He campaigns for people and they lose. But the members of Congress got more votes than he did in key places. And they are losing donors. This Insurrection damaged them. The problem is that Extremists have taken over the state parties. They need to be purged because the GOP will not win any more national elections...if we all vote in free fair elections. And they will never take the house back.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 2, 2021 12:50 AM |
Seems she immediately responded to McTurtle, who, in another fit of "I will soon die and what will my legacy be" guilt, issued a statement of support for Liz Cheney.
(OTOH, I would not be surprised if McConnell's newfound courage is because he's afraid if the super right wing takes over the Senate they'll appoint Cruz majority leader and drum him back into his shell.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 2, 2021 12:56 AM |

She did R50. There was a Democrat, but he dropped out, and the party could not recruit anyone else.
I've said this on DL before, but it's tough for either party to find someone to run for Congress in many of these rural districts.
It means giving up your job, moving to DC, and having to raise money in perpetuity, often from people outside the district.
If they're lucky, they find the heir to a small local fortune who doesn't really need to work and is interested in politics or someone who sees it as a stepping stone to something bigger.
But mostly they are scrambling to find someone and that scrambling gets much harder if the district is considered a safe seat for the other party.

Mitch is a wily old snake. He is allowing the momentum to build around MTG's ouutrageoous behavior. And the more moderate GOP is beginning to assert itself....separate from removing Trump. It's an interesting take on threading the needle. He acknowledges the cowardice of his colleagues, so he sort of, takes that part off the table while quietly orchestrating a purge of those who promoted Trump. Worth watching. Mitch is something. He's vile, of course, but I sure wish we had a Mitch.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 2, 2021 12:55 PM |
R69, I just don't think 74 million voters were all true believers. I think many of them voted for Trump out of fear. The GOP is brilliant at messaging and stoking up fear. Don't misunderstand me. I think people who support Trump are vile and cowardly. But not all of them are in the cult. Not all of them would be willing to storm the Capitol. In fact polling shows how much support he has lost since his Insurrection. There's even some movement within about holding him responsible for the poor response to the pandemic and the economy. We have work to do. The Racism is the biggest problem. Much worse than Trump.

[quote] Scary though expressed elsewhere: MTG could be the Republican’s next presidential candidate, win, and become the first female president.
She came from a small district in the literal back woods of Georgia. No mainstream Americans, moderates or even non-GOP sycophants would vote for her.

I would give anything to have her as the 2024 Rethug nominee.

Anyone catch MTG's speech on the house floor? What a mishmash of apology, denial, grandstanding, self-martyring. On the one hand, it seems like she's actively trying to distance herself from *some* things she's said in the past. But it's just not enough. She continues to misbehave.

Surprise ,R113. Trump has been called to testify. He has until tomorrow afternoon to respond. If he refuses, the Democrats will have the option to subpoena the fat pig. I cannot wait until Monday.

After removal from House committees, MJT is grateful that she doesn’t have to really do any work now.

Democrats getting ready to censure Greene for her crazy Holocaust comments. The Dems are loving it.

The fact that she refuses to apologize is wonderful. She’s actually out there trying to rationalize it.
