Julie London

When I was a kid I thought she was a cold nurse on Emergency. It wasn't until later, when I heard one of her records that she was trying to come across as sultry. I guess sultry was her thing. I really enjoy listening to her singing and also enjoy her on Emergency. Favorite songs of hers include "In the Still of the Night" and "The Thrill is Gone." Very steamy stuff.

One of my first crushes. Still like nurses to this day.

She was married to Jack Webb, short ugly guy who starred as Sgt. Joe Friday on the TV series "Dragnet". She left him for the couple's mutual friend, jazz pianist Bobby Troup, who wrote the song "Route 66".

Webb was a driven , chain smoking, general annoyance. She remained friends with him but probably needed the distance. He had 3 more wives.
