"Broad City" reminds me of living in New York more than any other show
It's one of my favorite shows ever. I wish they'd do a movie

There are some parts that seem impossible to film, like the quiet nighttime shots on St. Mark's Place and all the druggy shroom/pothead scenes

I haven't heard of this show, OP. I also didn't know Kal Penn did drag. Let alone on national television.

One of the most pro-gay shows ever

I loved Bevers. He should have his own show ("Incel City"?).

The guy in the gym that Abby ends up sleeping with was too funny.
What was the name of his “only fans” persona?

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson lived in Amy Poehler's guest house while they were creating the show.

Remember when she put her boyfriend's custom-made heterosexual dildo in the dishwasher?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 30, 2021 5:24 PM |
I agree OP. A lot of shows take place in New York, but Broad City really takes place in New York. It feels authentic.

I thought Ilana would be the one to be in a relationship with a woman, but she married a guy and Abbi is dating Carrie Brownstein from Sleater-Kinney and Portlandia.

One of the funniest shows I've ever seen. I admire them for calling it quits before it went down in quality.

I still haven't seen season 4 and 5... are they worth watching? Not sure why I haven't watched either of those seasons, as I was a regular viewer for season1 - 3. I can't remember if it became unfunny during season 3 or if I just forgot about it.

I will say that Illana lived in Brooklyn (Gowanus) and Abby lived in Queens (Astoria) and they were attached at the hip is a stretch
Traveling from Brooklyn to Queens is not a simple manner!

One of the best episodes was when Ilana's mother, played by Susie Essman, takes her to buy knockoff bags on Canal. Between Essman's passable Mandarin and Ilana's spontaneous dance in appreciation of hearing about Abby's plan to peg her boyfriend, the episode had me in stitches.

I think Abbie lived in Astoria? It would be very them to have Ilana take the G train all the time.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 30, 2021 5:51 PM |
Hey, R16. I’m not trying to be dense or anything but I take the G train all the time and I wonder if it’s “very me” to do that. What does that mean?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 30, 2021 5:58 PM |
I recently rewatched the whole thing. One of the best shows ever, and it makes me miss NYC.
And r14 is correct. That episode is one of the best.

Peri Gilpin as Abbi's mom was perfect casting

I really liked the season when Ilana worked in that telemarketing office. The season with Vanessa Williams in an episode.
The Vanessa Williams and Wisdom Teeth Episode were my favorites.
The show had a perfect ending too.
Fun show- Consistently funny as hell.

The G train is the train of the people. We don't need any fancy-pants stops in Manhattan R17. It's also a line that, unless you live in Queens and Brooklyn (mostly Brooklyn), you are completely unaware of it.

R19, when she talked about penetrating herself with a shampoo bottle, I don't think I've laughed that hard in ages.

Greatest show in the history of the whole world!

The last season episode in Florida perfectly sums up that shithole. With guest star Fran Drescher!

I started rewatching based on this thread. It holds up really well! I forgot about how much of a spaz Abbi was, and how jealous I was/am that she got to peg Jeremy!

This show was a lot of fun.

Melissa Leo as manage of the food co-op was a really good episode.
The episodes with Janeane Garofalo were really funny.
they're all pretty funny.

Season 5, Episode 1 is one of the funniest episodes of TV I have ever seen.

We just rewatched it. Amazing that it seems so casual and unassuming but is just wonderful. One of the few series that is both cynical and uplifting, if you know what I mean. It's Girls but with actual talent and no trust fund.

Ilana Glazer must be pretty fit or do yoga regularly to have those big tits and trim body and be able to do handstands at any moment.
