The ending was the worst ending I've seen in a movie in a long time, and it destroyed a lot of what was enjoyable in the film. I was really enjoying the movie (even though it's an hour too long) but the ending ruined the whole movie for me, It has got to be one of the stupidest and worst ideas in the history of film making, the ending is absolutely horrible beyond belief.
The ridiculous unnecessary 'bogeyman' storyline destroys all credibility of the movie.

It's difficult to see the elements of the film with any seriousness given this regrettable aberration; is the appearance of the serial killer "thing" and the subsequent encounter therewith in the court room. I mean, really?
The film stood on its own without this final fling. Yet, not only did the said aberration fail to add but instead it removed - decimated in fact. It took what was a respectable narrative and punched it.
What a shame.

Haven't read the book but i'm pretty sure it's not the worst adaptation of a King novel 🤔
