“Tom all legislators are down in the Tunnels 3floors down,”
“All members are in the tunnels under capital seal them in. Turn on gas,”
"Get it, Jess,” adding, “This is . . . everything we f---ing trained for!”

Do you have a source for that r5? I just did a search and couldn’t find anything confirming the rioters has gas grenades with them. Also, as far as I know, only two bombs were found, and they were planted outside the night before. I can’t find anything to support the idea that the rioters had the capability to actually lock the congress members in the tunnels and gas them.

Not discounting the possibility of insider info, but also the media is to blame. I was watching the PBS stream and their reporter there was reporting live as she was evacuated, along with members of Congress, into the tunnels, all the while showing where they were going and where they ended up. Surprisingly poor judgement from PBS.
Plus there was a story on Twitter that some member of Congress (who wasn't named) gave a media interview whilst they were in the secure room and told the interviewer where they were, which had everyone around them face-palming.

R18 it was in a lot of major news sources today.
Federal law enforcement officials are privately debating whether they should decline to charge some of the individuals who stormed the U.S. Capitol this month — a politically loaded proposition but one alert to the practical concern that hundreds of such cases could swamp the local courthouse.
Due to the wide variety of behavior, some federal officials have argued internally that those people who are known only to have committed unlawful entry — and were not engaged in violent, threatening or destructive behavior — should not be charged, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Just remember what all those terrorists were screaming when they were attacking the police, "FUCK THE BLUE, KILL THEM, KILL THEM, KILL THEM WITH THEIR OWN GUNS"
and then when they wanted to kill the VP, "WHERE'S MIKE PENCE, SHOW YOURSELF PENCE, WE'LL PUT YOUR HEAD ON A PIKE, HANG PENCE, HANG MIKE PENCE"
Very fine people indeed. I'm sure they really learned their lesson

If they are not prosecuted then all means of protection in the DOJ needs to be removed. No metal detectors, no security staff, no locked doors, no bodyguards with guns, no restrictions on entry whatsoever.
If there’s no prohibitions to entry and no consequences, why put police, guards and the like at risk trying to stop anyone?

R34: "turn on the gas" is explicitly a reference to what the Nazis did to German Jews during the Third Reich, genocidal mass murder. These "protestors" idolize Hitler; it's very easy to verify, it's all over their web postings. Don't kid yourself and don't waste others' time trying to soft-soap their words. These people are the lowest scum of US society, who had invaded the Capitol building, and were determined to stop our government from certifying a completely free and fair election, plain and simple. THEY ARE NAZIS.

{R27} Letting those that just committed “unlawful entry” go? Are you fucking kidding me?! So I can now just “unlawfully enter” someone’s house and not be charged? Sweet deal! Every single one who entered the Capitol should be charged. Every. Single. One.
We now know just what bad agents some of the individuals and groups were that committed a crime/crimes that day. Crimes ranging from First Degree Murder and Insurrection on down. I have no doubt that some were just a bunch of yahoos that got caught up in the moment. Doesn’t matter. They should all be charged and the severity of the penalty should depend on the severity of the crime.
We must never lose track of the fact that every Trump supporter that went down there that day, went with the intent to overturn democracy. That is, they were already perpetuating the outrageous lie, willingly or not, that a free and fair election was stolen from Trump. That’s already bad enough, Doesn’t matter that you’re stupid enough to believe whatever Tucker Carlson tells you. You’re already dangerous enough.

R49, First, you are assuming these people are literate enough to speak precisely, and second that people text in grammatically correct sentences, and third that there is gas to turn on in the Capital, or fourth that when you throw a gas grenade you “turn it on”.
Common sense tells you they probably aren’t speaking literally. They are simply urging their troops forward, which is bad enough.

R22, two cops who gave interviews to the press said that they didn't shoot because they had confiscated so many guns already they knew everyone there was armed to the teeth, and it would become a bloodbath if cops started shooting first. They were just trying to keep it from becoming a free-for-all where everyone was shooting everyone else, they really felt like it was seconds away from that happening, and of course cops were outnumbered, they would have been slaughtered.

Qanon are called the New Nazis for a reason. A lot of their propaganda is based on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. They tweaked the racism and started targeting Black people solely to gain more followers. It was the hook. Anti Gay and Lesbian propaganda was added. High status Black people as well as high profile gay and lesbian have all been targeted by Qanon. Degeneres, Tiegen, Markle, Oprah. {R59}, {R68} Agreed. It’s all right there in recorded history. What you describe seems less paranoid fantasy, and more reality, by the day. The Republican Party gets more terrifying everyday. Especially post insurrection. If what happened at the Capitol isn’t a wake-up call for the so -called “moderates” in the midst, I don’t know what would be. And it’s pure, unadulterated racism, and/or, white fragility.
When I see the likes of Rand Paul screaming in defence of the party status quo I start to lose hope for all of us. If your entire energy is wasted on whining about how hard-done-by the GOP is right now, instead of ACTIVELY doing everything in your power to purge the extremists in your midst, well... I have no words really.
In tandem with everything else, that Qanon psychopaths like Marjorie Taylor Greene are in Congress and not frothing at the mouth on some street corner, should trouble us all deeply. This woman is as extremist in her views as any historical Nazi right out of the 1930s. She and her ilk need to be purged immediately. The Republicans that are standing by and letting this happen are running the risk of being the “good Germans” who stood by and let the Holocaust happen. And history doesn’t differentiate. All of Germany of the 30’s and 40’s is “Nazi Germany”.
