Why is Bali always listed as its own country?

It's a part of Indonesia, folks.

Anyone who finished fifth grade knows Bali part of Indonesia. What the fuck is "listed", OP? And do a goddamned search next time—we already have a few threads on this same story.

Bali is the most overrated place that I have ever visited.

by Anonymousreply 2January 23, 2021 12:57 AM

It's not. It is sometimes referred to without its country, but so are many places.

She has nice arms. Must be all the fisting she was doing.

by Anonymousreply 4January 23, 2021 1:00 AM

For all its natural beauty (I would LOVE to see it), there always seems to be crazy, terrible shit happening there. So, I probably won't ever visit.

It isn't OP.

Bali's run in a somewhat autonomous way, as a Hindu enclave within the general Muslim country. There's not much "crazy shit" in Bali, except for tourists thronging around the tourist-focused daily festivals and drunken assholes.

R2 probably found it overrated because of where in the island she squatted. Karangasem villages in the east are pleasantly devoid of tourists and exist in more of the lulling-but-industrious routines of actual Balinese life.

I usually stay for only a couple weeks at a time, because of the heat. But there truly is no place like Bali, if you don't ask like a twat.

They were selling a e-book explaining how to bypass Covid regulations and live there only with provisional visas. Maybe that was considered on the deportation?

You missed out r2

I thought Bali was ruined long ago anyway by all the drunk white trash Australians.

by Anonymousreply 11January 23, 2021 6:36 AM

Bali is a shithole. Avoid it at all cause.

by Anonymousreply 12January 23, 2021 6:59 AM

Some idiot/deplorable Australians like to refer to Bali as part of Australia.

by Anonymousreply 13January 23, 2021 7:08 AM

The trashy Australians (and trashy other tourists) stay in a certain area. They are easy to avoid.

by Anonymousreply 14January 25, 2021 12:03 PM

Link for what R9?

Bali is an island province which is part of the country Indonesia. [bold]Fact.[/bold] End of story.

by Anonymousreply 15January 25, 2021 12:07 PM

Because most tourists wouldn't be caught dead in the rest of Indonesia. "Bali" is a marketable concept. Indonesia is not.

by Anonymousreply 16January 25, 2021 12:57 PM

Which is a shame, R16, since the rest of the country is fascinating and beautiful. I'd love to go back.
