Deplorable's Ask - Why Does Biden Wear A Rolex?

Saying this is proof positive that Biden is an "Elitist" and not doesn't understand the working class like Trump does.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 133January 24, 2021 9:40 PM

Trump understood the working class, all right—he understood how to fleece them of their hard-earned money while tweeting on his gold-plated toilet.

by Anonymousreply 1January 22, 2021 11:36 PM

I don't like the snobby Washington Elites looking down on ordinary Americans.

by Anonymousreply 2January 22, 2021 11:37 PM

I love how Republicans raise hell and call for impeachment over the pettiest infractions, such as wearing a Rolex.

Meanwhile, Democrats have to beg and plead the Republicans just to stop harming innocent people.

by Anonymousreply 3January 22, 2021 11:44 PM

What watch brand did Trump wear. Or did he not wear one in case it slipped off his tiny hands?

by Anonymousreply 4January 22, 2021 11:46 PM

Holy hypocrisy.

Deplorable's

- Oh dear!

by Anonymousreply 7January 23, 2021 12:00 AM

now that Trump is gone and banned from social media, the press is going to have to work hard to come up with stuff.

I can't wait till there's something really noteworthy that rethuglicans I know will bitch about and I'll just say: "Oh, no...that's just...who he is...no. all that matters is his job...no...no...don't focus on the wrong stuff...."

by Anonymousreply 8January 23, 2021 12:01 AM

There’s no trying to reason with them. They’re going to end up safer and better represented in DC with Joe as president. They’ll still loathe him.

by Anonymousreply 9January 23, 2021 12:01 AM

Never noticed the Rolex before. It's a classy touch.

by Anonymousreply 10January 23, 2021 12:02 AM

I don't give a shit if he wears a $50,000.00 Patek Philippe. What fucking difference does it make? Like having a $7000 watch makes him out of touch? I don't think so.

by Anonymousreply 11January 23, 2021 12:03 AM

I am actually going to cancel my New York Times subscription for this.

Mainstream liberalism’s self-appointed guardians are as much responsible for the rise of Trumpism with articles like these.

by Anonymousreply 12January 23, 2021 12:03 AM

"Deplorable's Ask"

Apparently they post here, too.

(OP, If you don't understand R7, perhaps you can consult your third-grade English textbook.)

by Anonymousreply 13January 23, 2021 12:04 AM

Thank goodness he doesn't risk having it fall into a gold toilet when he takes a piss.

by Anonymousreply 14January 23, 2021 12:08 AM

Deplorables have the right to ask questions, but mead is outlets don’t have to report on it, and not every question has to be discussed or published.

Did the NYT write a story on Melania‘s 50K flower coat? Heck, any of her outfits were probably more expensive than President Biden’s watch. I never cared about the price of her clothes or shoes, but I did care about her hurt her BS and her general cuntiness.

by Anonymousreply 15January 23, 2021 12:10 AM

Fuck the deplorables! Most of them are scum who live on dirt roads and think having a Timex means your high class. I have 2 Rolex watches. One an anniversary gift at work, and the other one inherited. And I certainly don't consider myself 'elitist'.

by Anonymousreply 16January 23, 2021 12:17 AM

Joe has been in politics for over 40 years. I say he deserves it!

by Anonymousreply 17January 23, 2021 12:21 AM

Wait until they see my solid gold diamond encrusted cock ring!

by Anonymousreply 18January 23, 2021 12:23 AM

The author is out of touch if they think a Shinola watch is an “everyman” line of watch. They are expensive.

by Anonymousreply 19January 23, 2021 12:23 AM

That's the NYT egging it on, OP.

by Anonymousreply 20January 23, 2021 12:27 AM

Yes, they're expensive, and they last more than a person's lifetime. And most of them increase in value as they age.

by Anonymousreply 21January 23, 2021 12:27 AM

[quote] deplorables! Most of them are scum who live on dirt roads

Yuck, we hate people who live on dirt roads.

by Anonymousreply 22January 23, 2021 12:27 AM

Well, it didn't even take a week for the MAGA times to go back to sucking up to MAGAts and yelling everyone how butt hurt MAGAts are and what these goddamned useless sacks of shit think.

Fuck these deplorable MAGAts and fuck the cunt flap NYT for continuing to print this rot.

by Anonymousreply 23January 23, 2021 12:29 AM

R19, I'm sure they don't know shit from Shinola.

by Anonymousreply 24January 23, 2021 12:37 AM

NYT : Good for Absolutely Nothing Since 2003

by Anonymousreply 25January 23, 2021 12:37 AM

Trump? He's been wearing a woman's luxury watch without comment, possibly to make his tiny hands look bigger.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 26January 23, 2021 12:41 AM

Is this story by that worthless apologist Haberman?

Bannon was on a Chinese billionaire's YACHT when he got caught for fleecing the idiot deplorables. Why aren't they outraged about Trump pardoning him?

R25, so fucking true. Starting with pushing that bullshit Iraq War. A Neocon rag for almost 20 years now.

by Anonymousreply 27January 23, 2021 12:42 AM

Biden is a Man of The People.

Biden is good enough for AOC.

by Anonymousreply 28January 23, 2021 12:42 AM

So the NYT has now done separate stories on Biden’s watch and his Peloton machine, heavily suggesting both are elitist. This has to stop.

by Anonymousreply 29January 23, 2021 12:44 AM

This is what irritates the fucking shit out of me. Why is the NYT attempting to define what it is to be a Democrat and/or liberal on their bullshit? I'm certainly far from wealthy, but I'm well-off enough that if I wanted a Peloton or a Rolex, I could get it; that doesn't mean I don't believe in universal healthcare or helping working families by raising the minimum wage.

I long before they complain Biden is riding the god damned bus everywhere?

What scumbags they are at the NYT. They know damned well that to lean left doesn't mean we're anti-wealth. It means we're anti-hoarding and anti-greed.

by Anonymousreply 30January 23, 2021 12:49 AM

by Anonymousreply 31January 23, 2021 12:50 AM

[quote] This has to stop

by Anonymousreply 32January 23, 2021 12:50 AM

Ban the NYTS from the WH briefings. The NYTs normalized that orange thing.

by Anonymousreply 33January 23, 2021 12:51 AM

r26 Jesus that looks tight... Genuinely not something I ever wanted to say about Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 34January 23, 2021 12:51 AM

It also could’ve been a gift. Shinola watches start at $400, not a Everyman piece.

by Anonymousreply 35January 23, 2021 12:57 AM

This story so infuriates me that I didn't proofread.

Correction: How long before they complain Biden isn't riding the god damned bus everywhere?

by Anonymousreply 36January 23, 2021 12:57 AM

They printed that nothing story about Nancy’ms refrigerator too. They really have a lot of answer for. They put out miles of text of Trump voters, all supposedly economically anxious people who lived in trailers. While they were putting the focus on them the well off ones, the ones with Harvard degrees, the ones with 100K trucks were plotting an insurrection. The NYT need to stop with this shit as they are way off the mark on who the ‘enemy’ is. And it’s insulting as a blue collar white male myself to assume I need a president to be in rags so I don’t feel emasculated and ignored. I don’t care if someone owns their own planet just pay your fair share of tax, give me affordable healthcare, an affordable place to live and don’t force your religious beliefs on me. The end.

by Anonymousreply 37January 23, 2021 12:58 AM

The NYT is correct. Biden is out-of-touch by having a Rolex and a Peloton. He must immediately give a tax cut to billionaires to prove he's a man of the people.

by Anonymousreply 38January 23, 2021 1:02 AM

[quote] Biden isn't riding the god damned bus everywhere?

I didn't get to ride on that bus!

Oh lord the Kamala hater is back spamming threads with jibes at her again.

by Anonymousreply 41January 23, 2021 1:14 AM

Are Rolex watches really "elitest"? I know plenty of middle class guys who wear them.

by Anonymousreply 42January 23, 2021 1:18 AM

Just how much is that Rolex watch?

by Anonymousreply 43January 23, 2021 1:23 AM

[quote] and not doesn't understand the working class like Trump does.

Wait. What??

by Anonymousreply 44January 23, 2021 1:24 AM

I wouldn’t say elitist but a sign that someone has money, had a monied relative that left it to him or has a credit card with a high credit line! I’m lower middle class I guess, I earn right in the average industrial wage and believe me I don’t know a single person who could afford to pay 7K for a watch. Maybe your definition of middle class is different to mine.

by Anonymousreply 45January 23, 2021 1:24 AM

Its a luxury item, it ain't a timex.

Don't understand why this an issue for the NYTs.

Peleton did big business in quarantine. The gyms have been closed. What is the problem.

by Anonymousreply 46January 23, 2021 1:26 AM

Man of the people - NYT

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 48January 23, 2021 1:32 AM

He needs to buy an even more expensive watch.

by Anonymousreply 49January 23, 2021 1:32 AM

As a very average earner myself I will say that I much prefer people with money to acknowledge that they do indeed have luxury items and not apologize for it. As long as you’re not a fiscal conservative with your foot on our necks we really don’t care, wacko Trumpsters desperate to pick faults with Biden/Harris aside. It’s far more insulting when people spend thousands on luxury brands and then try to pass it off as being a very normal thing that middle class people do. That gets on my nerves because it seems that the person is trying to erase the life experience of actual working and middle class people which does not include luxury items without serious debt. And of you are the type that thinks lawyers and IBM execs are middle class then yeah you’re probably never going to act with my interest in mind in any area of your life. But own your success, be a nice person and don’t try to pass yourself off as an average guy and I’ll be happy that you have nice things.

by Anonymousreply 50January 23, 2021 1:36 AM

OP, I searched Twitter for "Biden Rolex" and "Biden watch." So far, most everyone is criticizing the NYT piece.

by Anonymousreply 51January 23, 2021 1:38 AM

My father was raised dirt poor on a farm. He was educated, and had a well paid government job, now ling retired. We were comfortable, not rich. He has a Rolex. Why shouldn’t a wealthy man like Biden have an expensive watch? Everyone knows he’s wealthy now. Why should he pretend to be something he’s not? Ss long as he has empathy for the average American, and works to make that average American’s life better, why is it relevant?

by Anonymousreply 52January 23, 2021 1:42 AM

Maybe he bought it years ago for $2000. Maybe it was an anniversary gift from his wife ? For purposes of comparison, I brought a Le Creuset dutch oven at Marshall's in 1982 for 30, It now goes for 350. Rolexes were never cheap but lots of people had them.

by Anonymousreply 53January 23, 2021 1:43 AM

The guy who lived in a gold-gilded skyscraper on Fifth Avenue understands the working class? Um, ok.

Fuck, these deplorables are real morons.

by Anonymousreply 54January 23, 2021 1:45 AM

No doubt, if Trump were able to tell time, he'd have a gold Rolex.

by Anonymousreply 55January 23, 2021 1:47 AM

^ R53 He has made lots of money after being VP, he lives well, he bought the watch. He shouldn’t have to apologize for having it by saying of was a gift or it was picked up years ago. Just like Pelosi doesn’t have to justify having top of the line fridges when she’s worth 90 million. These people accepted Donald Trump as a man of the people, a man for the little guy despite all evidence to the contrary so we should totally ignore and never apologize or grovel. I’m tired of the far left and the far right conducting ridiculous purity tests and expecting everyone to go around apologising for everything.

by Anonymousreply 56January 23, 2021 1:48 AM

My father retired at age 63 after 32 years working on the waterfront. For his retirement in 1988 the four siblings put in $750 each to buy a Rolex for my Dad which he always wanted. We had in engraved on the back. He just broke down when he opened it. When he died my brother got it. Well worth the memories it had..

by Anonymousreply 57January 23, 2021 1:50 AM

I ask- Why does Biden's face look MUMMIFIED?

by Anonymousreply 58January 23, 2021 1:52 AM

I like this article and the tweets it's got embedded, especially the one that reads:

[quote]Jennifer M. Wood @j_m_wood

[quote]When I'm a 78-year-old man who has dedicated my life to public service, lived through the death of a spouse and more than one child, and am elected president in the midst of pandemic to clean up after a sociopathic idiot, I'm wearing a fucking Rolex, too.

by Anonymousreply 63January 23, 2021 2:08 AM

R2, Wearing a watch, even a Rolex, does not mean the wearer "looks down on" anyone. Do you know anything about Joe Biden?!

by Anonymousreply 64January 23, 2021 2:09 AM

And just like that, the Deplorables no longer think the NYT is Fake News.

I don't care if President Biden walks around in pearls, emeralds, rubies, and diamonds, as long as he governs for all of us, for our health, for our financial security, for our environment, and so forth.

Next up: "Biden: How Bespoke IS He?"

by Anonymousreply 65January 23, 2021 2:19 AM

Isn’t it sad that instead of raising everyone up to create a more equal society, some people can only imagine dragging everyone down to their level to make it more equal. There has always been and always will be little shits who inherit money and privilege and then try to keep the poor in their place (hello Josh Hawley) and fuck them for wanting people to work for $8 an hour while they earn huge salaries in jobs daddy’s connections for them. Joe Biden is not that person. Not all rich people are disconnected assholes and not all poor people are lovely innocents. Roosevelt did more for the working class then anyone and he was rich.

by Anonymousreply 68January 23, 2021 2:28 AM

They are on the rag since the orange shit stain lost the election and just looking for something to gripe about. Republicunts also criticized Rosalynn Carter for wearing the same clothes more than once when Jimmy was President. So they obviously don’t want down to Earth, either.

by Anonymousreply 69January 23, 2021 2:30 AM

None of your G.D. business if I wear a Rolex!

by Anonymousreply 70January 23, 2021 2:31 AM

I haven't read the NYT since Judith Miller lied about the Iraq War and was basically handmaiden to the Cheney/Bush crowd. It's gotten much worse since then with the enabling of Trump and the breathless profiles about Hope Hicks and Feckless Cunt Ivanka. Maggie Haberman and Michael Schmidt can go fuck right off.

by Anonymousreply 71January 23, 2021 2:31 AM

I don't know how anyone takes Haberman seriously when she was offended by a friggin comedian telling a joke about Huckabee's smokey eye lies than the lies themselves.

by Anonymousreply 72January 23, 2021 2:37 AM

more* offended

by Anonymousreply 73January 23, 2021 2:37 AM

And DO NOT get me started on the Times keeping weirdo Maureen Dowd around all of those years--but I did like her story where she sampled some edible cannabis and nearly died because she was a moron who ate the entire candy bar!

by Anonymousreply 74January 23, 2021 2:44 AM

The NYTimes is shit.

The Grey Lady has been coasting on the well-earned rep of its investigative reporters and a small handful of great columnists for far too long. The reality is the crap outweighs the good. The op-ed section is a haven for fascists masquerading as intellectuals. And the political desk is absolute bottom-of-the-barrel "both sides!" "Dems in disarray!" garbage.

We need to stop regarding it as the great newspaper that has occasional missteps. It's a trashbin liner that occasionally runs a good piece.

by Anonymousreply 75January 23, 2021 2:46 AM

I am willing to bet that watch was a special gift. From who? None of anybodys' business.

Also I hope President Biden doesn't address this bullshit.

Like the tan suit or the sleeveless dress crap. The losers are going to throw rocks no matter what.

by Anonymousreply 80January 23, 2021 2:58 AM

We will NEVER stop talking about the economic anxiety of deplorables, vows NYT.

by Anonymousreply 81January 23, 2021 3:06 AM

In my district they ran an ad about Pelosi wearing Armani. I guess we were supposed to be appalled even though the Republican candidates were all millionaires through inherited wealth. Then they ran an ad with Pelosi in the same dress on more than one occasion that tried to suggest she was going senile and that’s why she didn’t know it was the same outfit! Joe will never be able to win with these people. He could personally deliver checks for 100,000 and they’d complain about the color of the envelope.

I’ve realised that a lot of people have a lot of free time. Everyone needs to get enroll in a free course that interest then, get a library card and/or a hobby. For a supposedly overworked and stressed population people sure do have plenty of time to spend online getting worked up over politician’s clothing and who said what and in what tone. If I ruled the world I’d black out social media for a month, reduce the news stations down to 4 hours of programming day, 2 at breakfast, 2 at dinner and I think everyone would be better for it. A lot of the so called stress problem is self endured by bored people.

by Anonymousreply 82January 23, 2021 3:09 AM

I missed the first 10 mins of Brian Williams show, but it looks like he came for the NYT on this one. Did anyone see it and if they did, can you please quote what he said? He threw major shade from what I see on Twitter, but I see no quotes as to what he said.

by Anonymousreply 83January 23, 2021 3:19 AM

by Anonymousreply 84January 23, 2021 3:24 AM

When you're 78 years old, you can damn well wear a Rolex if you like.

by Anonymousreply 85January 23, 2021 3:39 AM

If you're more offended by a fucking Rolex than two GA millionaire senators who both heard about an horrific pandemic coming to takeover the US and rather than try and protect their constituents, they saw it as a money-making scheme, then you're a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 86January 23, 2021 3:43 AM

by Anonymousreply 87January 23, 2021 3:46 AM

He understood most of them are racist, white trash.

by Anonymousreply 88January 23, 2021 3:49 AM

I got my dad's Rolex a few years ago. Granted, just a stainless steel Submariner. His parents gave him when he graduated from law school. Still had the original paperwork in the box.

$620.00 in 1974.

by Anonymousreply 89January 23, 2021 4:39 AM

The black reptile Birken Melania carried at her WH exit probably cost more than Joe's watch.

by Anonymousreply 90January 23, 2021 4:51 AM

WAY more, R90. You can't even get a basic Birkin bag for the $7,000 Joe's watch is said to be worth. The one Melanija was carrying is more like $70,000.

by Anonymousreply 91January 23, 2021 4:56 AM

[quote]believe me I don’t know a single person who could afford to pay 7K for a watch.

by Anonymousreply 92January 23, 2021 5:07 AM

I’m sorry. I just can’t.

by Anonymousreply 93January 23, 2021 6:17 AM

R45 - I bet you could. Right before I left LA I was seeing an older queen I met at the mall in Canoga Park and he was on comission but making a decent working class income at Nordstrom. His dream was to get a Rolex and there were jewelry stores there willing to extend a line of credit. The watches ranged from 6.5K to 40K (lower priced were used). They essentially take your driver's license and bring out the catalog and then, based on your selection, they bring out the watches. He ended up getting one for about a little over 9K and with in store credit and verification of income, he got it and is paying 68 dollars a month plus interest. He's a low-key guy, no big expenditures so he's still got it last I talked to him. Luckily Nordstrom is still open but his hours are reduced so I referred him to a chef I was going to Equinox with and he does deliveries with catering so his income stayed the same.

The underlying idea in all this Republican propaganda is that Democrats, who want to help regular people stay afloat financially, are hypocrites if they themselves are rich or have luxuries. "Michael Moore is a millionaire!" Not really logical, but it short-circuits logic and hits at the crude notion that "Democrats think everyone should be poor."

I noticed Biden was wearing a beaded bracelet behind the watch the other day. OMFG AHHAHHHHHH LIBERALLLLLLL!!!!

The Deplorables.

If Pres. Biden was wearing one of these gaudy $80,000.00 numbers I'd say have at him. But he wears a perfectly normal watch a wealthy man with class and dignity would wear. It's a watch that will last his and his descendants lifetimes.

Oh, dear!

Biden is not putting her in his inner circle. She is mad, and appearing on Hannity or Bartiromo daily lashing out at Hunter, who has never worked in government.

I could just about believe NYTMZ decision-makers are trying to come across as contemptible shitheads.

I scrapped my subscription in the throes of the J. Miller debacle, have consistently been reminded that the choice served my best interests.

If Biden had worn a cheap watch to his inauguration he would have been criticized as being disrespectful.

R106, Exactly!

Same reason they cry, "Leonardo Di Caprio FLEW IN A PLANE! I guess he's not TOO worried about the environment!"

Nixon and his wife Pat's "cloth coat" began this hypocrisy.

It continued with Poppy Bush, of Yale and Skull and Bones, married to a descendant of Franklin Pierce, who shamelessly suggested that Gov. Michael Dukakis was an elitist who got his foreign policy views "from Harvard's boutiques."

And of course, candidate John Kerry spoke French! And sailed a boat!

What Republicans of both low and high financial status cannot grasp is that a wealthy person might not be as irredeemably avaricious as themselves---even those in public office.

The love of money is the Republican lingua franca.

Digression: R103, I very often use my Le Creuset pieces I bought in a South Carolina Outlet in 1974.

I've accumulated, and bought furniture to accommodate, quite a few pieces since then, and even now I'm contemplating adding the new Agave color!

A better response is to simply scoff. It is beyond comical and is absolutely a cousin to the tan suit story. Also, you should feel warm and fuzzy that this is the only ammo they have right now. HIS WATCH BRAND. Think about that. It is so pathetic that you should feel bemused. Let them keep track of the brand of everything Joe wears, while we save the economy and get the country vaccinated. I’m serious — we should encourage this, nod your head violently if someone brings it up in conversation, “you guys really need to do something about this, get Joe to admit that he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing” then just step back and watch.

When the worst thing they can go after is a watch then you know he is doing a good job. Just like the tan suit.

My President-Forever Trump and classy First Lady Melania (soooo much more a lady than that Moochelle) were HUMBLE! They would NEVER buy any so-called "designer" brand ANYTHING!

And do you see the name "Trump" anywhere? No, you do not! Kennedy Center. Reagan Airport. What is named after the BEST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY?! Not ONE hotel or golf course or winery or anything!

Well, see how you like it, America. Your new FAKE President is nothing but an elitist Libtard with fancy watches and sunglasses (yeah, bet you didn't notice THEM!) who was INSTALLED by the DEEP STATE to undo all the great work my President-Forever Trump did in the name of Jesus! God save America!

Well, you're right there. People like them only buy fakes. That's because they are fakes themselves. Fakery is all they know.

It was his inauguration as POTUS and the pinnacle of his life, so Rolex was appropriate.

That tight watch on Trump's wrist. I'm guessing he got that watch in the '80s, when he weighed maybe 60 pounds less. The watch looks '80s to me.

Jesus Christ. Biden was one of the poorest members of the Senate if i remember correctly. The Bidens did earn a lot of money from the books they wrote and speeches they gave after his term as Vice President ended-like every other ex -President and VP does.

He’s given his entire life to public service, a life touched by a lot of tragedy. If he wants a Rolex let him have it. Who cares? It’s his money. A lot of people reward themselves with a nice watch.

Republicans are the most hypocritical people on the planet. Trump is the epitome of gaudy “taste” that screams“I AM RICH BITCH” and they never complained.

I thought they liked making people feel like accumulating nice things and showing them off was the American way.

by Anonymousreply 129January 23, 2021 5:42 PM

Because he has one?

I'm sure you've seen the Trump family photo with Barron riding the stuffed lion. Here are three more from that series.

[quote]Belgian snapper Regine Mahaux took these pics in April of 2010. The same month that the brokeass TV reality host got his quickie refund from the government. He was the top Chapter 11 filer in America in the last 30 years. - Robert Young Pelton
