My father was raised dirt poor on a farm. He was educated, and had a well paid government job, now ling retired. We were comfortable, not rich. He has a Rolex. His dream was to get a Rolex and there were jewelry stores there willing to extend a line of credit. The watches ranged from 6.5K to 40K (lower priced were used). They essentially take your driver's license and bring out the catalog and then, based on your selection, they bring out the watches. He ended up getting one for about a little over 9K and with in store credit and verification of income, he got it and is paying 68 dollars a month plus interest. He's a low-key guy, no big expenditures so he's still got it last I talked to him. Luckily Nordstrom is still open but his hours are reduced so I referred him to a chef I was going to Equinox with and he does deliveries with catering so his income stayed the same.
