The New York native also portrayed a Jewish vigilante on a sobering episode of "All in the Family."

He also appeared on “The Flying Nun” at about the very exact same time somebody told Sally Field nobody liked her.

He was also in an episode of Sally Struthers' ill-fated "Gloria" and several "Murder She Wrotes". Actually, he was in almost everything....
RIP

Oh, that's too bad. I always thought he was hot in "Barney Miller" and he would have been a lot hotter, if it wasn't for the early, unfortunate hair loss.

He was also the bartender in the Towering Inferno that tried to save the expensive wine. He was crushed when they exploded the water tanks.

He was one of those quintessential character actors in the 70s. He really was in everything.

I remember him. He really was in just about everything on tv. He was a fine actor, may he RIP.

He played the creepy pedo in Unspeakable Acts.

I think he played a criminal prisoner on Cagney & Lacey. Doug Savant played a high school kid who got arrested and didn't give his real age so he was raped in a holding cell overnight.
Sierra played a character who lied to Cagney and Lacey that three black men -- the Soul Brothers -- had raped him. It turned out that Sierra's character did. Cagney tripped a chair he was sitting in, I think, and said she'd make sure that it got out in prison that he had lied and they'd be calling Sierra...wait for it...'The Queen of Soul.'

Jesus, I hope your recollection is right r21! I’m going to find that episode.

I think it is R22; there's a term for it -- Hyperthymesia.
If I don't have a 'superior' memory, it comes close.
of course, IMDB and google help, too.
the episode was titled, appropriately, 'Violation' -- Savant's character's father blasted the police and said the ordeal turned his kid into a fag or turned him gay
the 80s were such an odd time for any kind of gay content on shows (tho this C&L episode was more about rape in jail); we had Steven Carrington who kept sleeping with women -- Claudia, Sammy Jo -- and when he did get a male lover, Luke, he was killed off in the Moldavian Massacre.

R23, I remember those years well, not with the same detail, but I agree representation was rare and seldom positive.
