Did I miss a CDC update or something.
Why is everybody double-masking now?
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 1, 2021 1:46 AM |
IMO combination of 1) the new strain that is meant to be more contagious and 2) some study saying cloth masks are less effective than anticipated compared to the other kinds. Basically some scientists saying "your cloth masks make you feel too comfortable, get the N95s" and everyone that can't get N95s double masking instead.

If this helps convince people to get the vaccine i'm ok with it.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 22, 2021 4:57 AM |
It's due to the new paranoid strain.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 22, 2021 4:58 AM |
i went to the dentist last week and my dentist was double masked as well. And he took the vaccine...first dose.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 22, 2021 5:04 AM |
We've been double masking since April. We recently added face shields.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 22, 2021 5:39 AM |
In some European countries wearing FFP2 masks in public transportation and public places will be mandatory soon.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 22, 2021 5:42 AM |
Studies showed last year that standard cotton masks only had an efficacy of about 13, when it came too blocking particles of 300 nm.
People obviously weren't paying attention.

[quote]i went to the dentist last week and my dentist was double masked as well. And he took the vaccine...first dose.
The first dose isn't effective until 2 weeks after and only provides 50% efficacy. The second dose boosts it up to around 95% (depending on your age), and again, it takes two weeks.
People also wrongly assume (not saying the poster above did) that once you get the vaccine you can't catch covid or spread it. You can still do both.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 22, 2021 5:54 AM |
If the mask is too comfortable, it is probably not doing the job. There is no way those loose cloth masks or like the cheap spandek masks with worn elasticity that everyone wears does anything. In LA, I do a KN95 which is decently comfortable with a surgical over it for anything indoors. Everyone at the inauguration was double masking.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 22, 2021 5:57 AM |
R8, I hope they fit better than the one in the photo. She could fit a second nose in the gap.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 22, 2021 5:57 AM |
Pete needs to adjust his straps. It's not comfortable having your ears pulled forward like that.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 22, 2021 6:07 AM |
Good information.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 22, 2021 6:08 AM |
Did Chasten cut the straps off Pete's inner mask? Trouble in paradise?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 22, 2021 6:25 AM |
Pete's inner mask is Chasten used manties, well worn. Or the the young Latino twunk intern.

In fact, there have been no studies yet on whether the vaccine can prevent you from spreading it.
No one knows at this time.
Best to be safe.

Jeez I can hardly breath in one I dont know if I could wear another. Possibly it's the masks that were given to us by a friend who owns a hospital, not N95, but some thick stretchy double things they have at the hospital. They're doubled with a filter in between. I breath hard anyway and they make it worse.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 22, 2021 6:50 AM |
Thanks for the info. I totally missed the double mask thing. But I agree with R18. I have enough trouble with just one. But I will get over it and double mask from now on.

Are we still talking about COVID?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 22, 2021 2:08 PM |
I have started double masking. I'm especially paranoid now because the South African variant has been detected in the US
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 28, 2021 7:49 PM |
I’m gonna triple mask! 😷
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 28, 2021 7:50 PM |
It’s for unattractive people like Pete and Chasten. Rumer Willis is a fan too.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 28, 2021 7:52 PM |
Either let us all die or distribute full hazmat suits like in Outbreak.

[quote]I breath hard anyway

by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 28, 2021 9:07 PM |
Just marketing by Big Mask.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 28, 2021 9:09 PM |
Also, the 95 and KF94 good masks that everyone should be wearing now are rather ugly. So you can wear one, but cover it up with a perky cloth mask that coordinates with your outfit, as per Chasten.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 28, 2021 9:14 PM |
I have the N95 mask. It really is uncomfortable and it has an odor. I have a cloth mask and a filter for it. It gives off a slight odor to. The most comfortable are the surgical masks. The Korean surgical masks don't fit as good as the other ones my pharmacy use to sell.

To what? Or to who? Or to where?

Don't be stupid R29.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 28, 2021 9:47 PM |
You’re illiterate but call someone else stupid?
Well, I do love irony.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 28, 2021 9:50 PM |
I could barely hear most people wearing one mask so now it will be silence.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 28, 2021 10:27 PM |
Another reason to double mask: I still see improper mask-wearing on an almost daily basis
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 29, 2021 12:20 PM |
Because they are mindless idiots, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 29, 2021 1:03 PM |
Blocking the anti-mask troll(s) is like playing a game of Whac-A-Mole
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 29, 2021 1:05 PM |
I've started wearing a cloth mask over one of the blue surgical paper masks. I figure this keeps the cloth mask cleaner, and I can reuse it while replacing the blue mask more frequently.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 29, 2021 7:31 PM |
r96 that is what I do. (Well, it's not a cloth mask; it's made out of some other synthetic material.)
Initially, it was hard to breathe wearing both. When I'm outside walking, I typically only wear the surgical mask. But I find if I wear both together (like when I'm on the bus) and then walk somewhere, breathing is not an issue.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 29, 2021 8:02 PM |
I've been double masking since September.
I started doing it because I knew the cloth masks weren't stopping the smaller particles and many people were still refusing to wear one at all. So I doubled up.
Then I found that I could cover the ugly surgical masks with a nice cloth one that I bought from our local natural history museum.
Protect myself, look awesome and advertise for the natural history museum. Everybody wins.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 29, 2021 9:26 PM |
That’s great, r38. And a great idea too.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 29, 2021 10:07 PM |
[quote]I could barely hear most people wearing one mask so now it will be silence.
How are you wearing your masks so that your hears get covered up?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 29, 2021 11:38 PM |
Isn't a mirror with two faces enough?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 31, 2021 10:48 PM |
I've been doing this early on. I basically thought it's just common sense to double your protection.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 31, 2021 10:53 PM |
If you're wearing two masks at this point, I just don't know what to say. Confirmed toddler, gullible as fuck.
I swear this is a 4Chan troll. It has to be. This is transparently, obviously nonsense. It literally makes no sense. Do you people ever question authority? They're fucking with you.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 31, 2021 11:06 PM |
R43, is this hurting you? The first mask was promoted as a way to protect others from you. The second mask protects you.
Can’t chat? Zoom and self-isolate.
See? You get to say, “Look at the good I do” while feeling more secure.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 31, 2021 11:16 PM |
Now I wear 2 condoms.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 31, 2021 11:16 PM |
I’m just relieved you use condoms, R45. Good!
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 31, 2021 11:23 PM |
Yes, OP. Not sure HOW you missed it.
Everyone should move up to KN95 masks asap, or double up with a surgical mask under a quality non-woven fabric mask.
The new strains are FAR more contagious, and are spreading like wildfire.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 31, 2021 11:25 PM |
R43 is a fucking idiot.
Why are the stupid, misinformed morons always the most arrogantly cock-sure?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 31, 2021 11:26 PM |
r1 They need to manufacture more KN 95 masks. People are still going with cloth masks because they still believe there is a shortage for healthcare workers.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 31, 2021 11:34 PM |
Please don't engage the anti-mask trolls (eg r43). Your outrage is their lifeblood.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 1, 2021 12:10 AM |
This is the newest purity test, and if you don’t start double-masking, you’re a Deplorable.
I wear a very nice double-layer mask with a replaceable filter. It came from the surgical supply store near me. I have a few and wash them daily. It’ll be quite a while until I’m eligible for the vaccine.
If that’s not good enough for you Tracy Flicks, I don’t know what to tell you.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 1, 2021 12:35 AM |
Stop wearing masks. Stop being stupid cunts.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 1, 2021 12:39 AM |
You stop being a stupid cunt first R52. Oh I forgot, with you it's congenital.
Punched, deleted.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 1, 2021 1:25 AM |
[quote]Now I wear 2 condoms.
Doesn't that make it hard to breathe?
