Did she fall off the planet?
She's still working. Working in the background so people who don't need to know what she's up to, won't know what she's up to.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 21, 2021 1:13 AM |
Why didn't Biden make her the DNC Chair?
Seems like she would be good at the job, considering what she did in Georgia.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 21, 2021 1:15 AM |
Does she like sausage or clams with her spaghetti?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 21, 2021 1:15 AM |
OP, she just made the Senate Democratic two weeks ago. Give her a few days to rest.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 21, 2021 1:17 AM |
She has been hailed as the major architect behind Joe Biden’s win in Georgia and the success of the Democrats winning the Senate there.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 21, 2021 1:17 AM |
Should have given her the Governorship she rightly won, she would be too busy dealing with covid to organize citizens right to vote.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 21, 2021 1:35 AM |
Yay I can finally post again! Op, Stacy Abrams is the BOSS and can do whatever she wants. I gotta say I loved her when I heard her talking about making her ex boyfriend a villan in one of her romance novels, and I honestly would have never expected the woman I heard that day could execute such a fait accompli.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 21, 2021 1:50 AM |
She continues to do the Lord's work behind scenes.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 21, 2021 2:05 AM |
I don't understand why she didn't run for the Senate instead of insisting that she wants to be Governor of Georgia. Governor of Georgia is a pretty worthless job, as far as government positions go. If she marshaled all those new voters in GA., she could teach others how to do the same thing across the South, and she could then have a big enough impact on the Democratic party to put the party completely in her power...She's smart. I expect she can get any appointment she wants, right about now.

Abrams doesn’t want either of those jobs. She knows what she wants and she has a plan to get it. I’m pretty sure she does not need your input nor permission.

That's what it stands for, R15.

I was hoping Joe and Kamala invited her to the inauguration. She worked her a** off to turn Georgia blue.
Btw, Clarence Thomas was the only scotus that didn't attend the inauguration. I wonder if Nancy has linked his fascist wife to the insurrection.

I always figured that if she wasn't nominated for anything in the Biden administration, it meant that her goal was to run for governor of GA again. I think that is what she wants and is her dream. I do know that the republicans who control the GA Legislature are planning all kinds of nasty little pieces of legislation to make voting more difficult. It will be interesting to see what the next few years bring for her. She deserves everything.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 21, 2021 12:19 PM |
The legislature of the State of GA is a bunch of mouth-breathing no-neck, Republican monsters, putting it mildly. I live here, am an attorney, and I know a good deal about it. Why a black woman would want to be put in the position of negotiating with those swamp-creatures is completely beyond comprehension. And it's almost a purely ceremonial job. Fighting it out with them about the voting-access issues is just about the only real issue in GA. government right now. Voting should, of course, be doable by mail, by everyone, all the time, and it will ultimately come to be that way. I get that S. Abrams probably wants to be President or Vice-President. I just don't see how being Gov. of GA. gets you there, despite the past example of J. Carter.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 21, 2021 12:27 PM |
She was a part of the inaugural events that were livestreamed last night, and it looks like she made at least one TV appearance yesterday, talking about the inauguration. She had to have been invited, no idea why she wasn't there, though.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 21, 2021 12:30 PM |
R30, after what the GA GOP experienced under Trump, why would they continue to foster that mentality? Why would they try and take away peoples' right to vote? I mean they might as well have simply stolen it for Trump if they plan to just make it harder for people to vote and disenfranchise them.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 21, 2021 12:35 PM |
I think she wants Governor of GA because she, and a lot of others, feel that it was stolen from her last time.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 21, 2021 12:39 PM |
More likely she ate the planet.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 21, 2021 12:42 PM |
^R32, the GA legislature just went back into session, and the Republicans are moaning and groaning about the abomination of mail-in, "absentee" ballots and ballot drop-boxes. They know that if voting access is made this convenient for people, they likely won't stand a chance of remaining in power. Just yesterday the (Republican, white) Chairwoman of the Gwinnett Co. Elections Commission was caught on tape muttering about how "we" won't stand a chance unless something is done about absentee balloting, and all the Democrats on the committee have now demanded her resignation (she, of course, says her remarks were 'taken out of context'). What happened in GA with Trump is that, purely by accident, GA SOS Raffsenperger was honest enough to refuse to be sucked into Donald's fantasy world about made up, "found" votes, and fixing the election results. His predecessor, Kemp, who is now the Governor and who beat Abrams for that seat, is proving to be singularly inept at his job. I have a few friends who went to high school with him, and another friend in politics, a Democrat, who has worked with Republicans who work with Kemp today - Kemp's co-party members seem to be universally amazed by Kemp's blank stupidity. They say he is truly one of the dumbest human beings they have ever known, and these are fellow Republicans. Kemp's response to Covid19 bears this out, all down the line. Why S. Abrams will get a kick out of beating him in a 2nd match-up is beyond me, but I sure hope someone comes after him, after all that's happened in the past year.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 21, 2021 12:58 PM |
R35, it's funny you say that about Kemp, because I know people who knew John Boehner for a long time and were amazed by his rise to power because they said he was one of the "stupidest, most ignorant men you will ever meet."
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 21, 2021 5:07 PM |
Correct me if I am wrong. There have been very few presidents who jumped from the senate to the WH. Kennedy and Obama are the only ones I can think of. Other than that, most POTUS had governor or VP on their resume. Likewise, head of the DNC is not exactly a stepping stone.
Based on her bold campaign for VP, I think her aspirations are quite clear. Becoming governor of GA would fit in to that plan. And the payback wouldn’t hurt.
As for her visibility during the inauguration, I don’t think she wants a lot of press that portrays her in a supporting capacity. While it did buy her lots of political capital, it is not the image she wants to project.

R9 If she loses again statewide, she's done. Those senate seats were not pure tossups--they were viewed as likely Republican holds at the beginning of the campaign season.
1) By staying in the game but not running, she was able to create much more party infrastructure for a second run for governor. 2) The Warnock seat is up in 2022 because its finishing a term. So if Trump had won and Loeffler won, she would have had a much easier time winning in 2022 with all that additional infrastructure. And the governor's race was still on the table so she'd have a better idea of which one to run for depending on Gov Kemp's numbers. If Trump had won, it was a safe bet 2022 would be an incredible year for Democratic pickups. 3) It's harder for a Democrat to win a Senate seat than a Governorship in a historically/traditionally Republican state. Voters now understand they're voting more for party than a candidate and that has massive implications when you're talking about a Senate vote. Its easier for voters to vote for the individual when it comes to a governorship because there are no national power implications for the party. And often that governor would be held in check by a very strong opposition in the state legislature (see what happened in the last Kansas Gov and Senate races, same with Montana).

I do think she needs to change her appearance if she seriously wants to run for president. Fix her teeth and lose at least 60 pounds. Except for deplorables, appearance matters. I also think somebody should have whipped Hillary in shape for 2016. After 2008, she put on a lot of weight and she did look awkward and not fit for the job.
If I were a political image consultant (which of course I'm not) that would be my advice for Stacey Abrams, who I think is amazing and who I'm a big fan of. As I am of Hillary.

by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 2, 2021 3:54 AM |
r52 You're wrong. She couldn't run for Senate. It was too uphill of a battle when she had to pull the trigger on running. GA was a surprise nail biter and those always happen in the closing days of a campaign--but unlike a Presidential campaign that has options where to move their money, spend their time, or push to compete, she was stuck with GA.
If you paid every political consultant in America to make up a list of the most likely states to flip from 2016, GA wouldn't have made the top 10 at the start of 2020.

Wrong. As Secretary of State, Brian Kemp cancelled 1.4 million voter registrations and closed 214 polling places in Democrat-heavy areas shortly before his race for governor commenced. Not outright fraud, probably not illegal, but it was obviously a conflict of interest and certainly possible that it affected the outcome of the race. Kinda different from claiming your election was stolen because dead Hugo Chavez rigged the machines and guys delivering dinner to ballot counters were really dumping zillions of fake Biden ballots.
