Gay US Couple to Be Deported After Calling Bali ‘Queer Friendly’
DENPASAR, Indonesia (AFP) — A gay American couple is being deported from Bali after viral tweets that called the Indonesian resort island “queer friendly.”
The firestorm started when Kristen Gray tweeted over the weekend that she was enjoying “an elevated lifestyle at a much lower cost of living” after moving to the island from Los Angeles with her girlfriend.
Praising the benefits of Bali, she said it was “queer friendly” and home to a “black in Bali community.”
She also promoted an e-book she was selling that told people how to bypass strict regulations barring foreigners from visiting during the coronavirus pandemic.
Justice official Jamaruli Manihuruk said Gray and her partner would be sent back to the US as she was “suspected of having intentionally disseminated unsettling information” about Bali.

Methinks this was the real issue.

Way to bury the lede.

That's what got her deported; and trying to teach people how to live there on a tourist visa like she did. And of course, when she gives a statement she blames it on being LGBT. Nah. Should've kept that to yourself.

Idiots.
You aren't in the west, the laws about homosexuality in Indonesia are not good. You have to be cognizant about where you are.

Fuck them, they were kicked for bragging about bypassing covid regulations and they blame it to discrimination.

You'd think they'd want someone handy with power tools after the next tsunami.

Good! I’m so fucking tired of gay, wannabe influencers encouraging gay people to go to countries where their lives could be put at serious risk. I have an acquaintance who’s gay and at one point he started a podcast to encourage people to go to Egypt, even though at the time a woman had been arrested for flying a rainbow flag at a concert.

The real crime here is the use of the q-word. I just wish they’d locked her up there instead of sending her back HERE.

We're deporting them back NOW so we don't have to deport them THEN

Its really a shame that they didn't prosecute the cunts before deporting them.

Overstaying a tourist visa, and doubling down by attempting to teach others how to do the same, for profit: a case of OBVIOUS HOMOPHOBIA.

She didn’t overstay her visa though and she was “working” as a digital nomad but she probably pissed off the wrong person who reported that she was publicizing how to get around visa regulations. Like she was the first person to figure out how to do that and she just had to tell the world. Moron.

Does anyone else get the sense that this person would be the first to jump up and demand respect for LGBQT culture and for her Blackness? And yet, off she goes to a deeply conservative moral country and one of its loveliest, yet still deeply conservative, islands. I loved Bali and the people were amazing, but I was there to enjoy *their* culture, not to hop on a Pride float.

^^Meant that they have conservative values, not that the country is moral. ^^

Heaven help you if US immigration found an ebook detailing how to come and be a digital nomad on the ESTA or tourist visa. You’d be looking at immediate deportation and minimum ten year ban.possibly lifetime ban if you tried to cover up and didn’t admit guilt once they found the book.

This is an example of a country with sane, common sense immigration policies. If the US had any self respect, there would be massive deportations of every whining Dreamer who acts like we owe them something.

Those Dreamers were brought here as children, fascist cunt @r31.

Really Defacto kids brought here against their will, educated in our schools and paying taxes as productive members of society is who you’re going after? You’ll feel vindicated if a young women who has only ever known our country as her home is deported to Guatemala where she doesn’t know a soul? Get a fucking grip and redirect the anger you feel about your life to a more deserving group.
The US does deal with people who do as this woman did with a very heavy hand.

So, r31, you think the US should emulate the immigration policies of Muslim-majority countries.
OK then.

Defacto is a Trump fan. Enough said.

The Dreamers in our military, fire service etc should refuse to serve people like Defacto. They don’t owe him shit either and I most certainly wouldn’t put my life on the line for ignorant bigots like him if I was a DACA recipient.
Also note the false equivalency between DACA and people abusing a tourist visa as OP did. He probably knows that our air borders are some of the strictest in the world with nobody even allowed to transit through the US on a through ticket without going through full immigration and customs and meeting our homeland security officers who are known all over the world for being the harshest fuckers in the game.
