[quote] Supposedly J Lo stole the show at the Inauguration
She also stole the curtains, the carpet, and the silverware too.
Damn Puerto Ricans.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 20, 2021 6:57 PM |
Mariah says no.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 20, 2021 6:57 PM |
JLo is a woman POC and that article is from Buzzfeed. So of course they praised it.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 20, 2021 6:57 PM |
She was ghastly. WTF
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 20, 2021 6:58 PM |
I loved her and her performance. She was a goddess and sounded great. I like Gaga a lot but J Lo was a class act. Loved her nod to Madam VP Harris, too.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 20, 2021 7:01 PM |
[quote] J Lo was a LOW class act
There, I fixed it for you.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 20, 2021 7:02 PM |
No, OP. OK, but hardly stole the show.
Gaga far exceeded expectations: our national anthem is not an easy song to sing.

[quote] J Lo stole the show at the Inauguration
Did Joe rip off her bra ?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 20, 2021 7:04 PM |
I found Jlo pleasant but uninspired. Like always.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 20, 2021 7:06 PM |
Her voice just isn't that great, but she is gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 20, 2021 7:09 PM |
Gaga, JLo and Garth were all excellent today. It's not easy to sing live outdoors in the cold, but they sounded flawless. Much better than Aretha's performance at the Obama inauguration.
JLo laid to rest all the rumors that she couldn't sing live.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 20, 2021 7:11 PM |
She sounded better than I’ve ever heard her sing, but she’s still not a real singer...I wonder if she was lip syncing?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 20, 2021 7:15 PM |
Who sang for her?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 20, 2021 7:16 PM |
I didn't think for a second JLo was singing live. There was definitely a backing track along with the band.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 20, 2021 7:17 PM |
Best plastic surgery ever...one of very few who has gotten better looking with age...overall lousy vocalist, but sounded better than I’ve ever heard her...
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 20, 2021 7:17 PM |
She didn’t steal anything but I will say I was holding my breath all the way through.
Verdict: she didn’t stink
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 20, 2021 7:17 PM |
Does anyone know what she said in Spanish?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 20, 2021 7:18 PM |
She said she doesn't partake of Botox hence the genuine frowning.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 20, 2021 7:23 PM |
I’ll give her credit, she was good as she has been since Waiting for Tonight/Out Of Sight.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 20, 2021 7:27 PM |
I believe every performance was lip synced.
I did not like that JLo incorporated "Let's Get Loud" only because I believe an inauguration is not a time for self-promotion. But I am a purist when it comes to tradition. Although, I did like the Spanish since the song is about inclusion.
All three sang beautifully.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 20, 2021 7:28 PM |
Let's be honest, JLo sounded a lot better than Mariah would have.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 20, 2021 7:29 PM |
She looked OOOOOOOLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDD but at least we didn't have to look at her navel.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 20, 2021 7:31 PM |
Yes op where is the praise you're saying? The media always kisses her ass for some reason. She doesn't sing her own music BTW she's been outed as having ghost singers like selena gomez.

by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 20, 2021 7:36 PM |

Lady Gaga knocked my socks off. She was stunning.
The young poet was supurb.

by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 20, 2021 7:43 PM |
People LIKED Garth, sauntering out as a slob to sing "Amazing Grace."???? Donnez-moi une BREAK!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 20, 2021 7:43 PM |
None of them were lip syncing today and there was no backup audio. Today was a very stripped-down version of AV due to security measures.

by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 20, 2021 7:54 PM |
LOL. J. Lo is a light-skinned mestiza who is mostly European and considered and treated as white in most of Latin America. She is only considered POC because of America's racist One-Drop Rule which is also why Obama was considered "Black".
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 20, 2021 7:57 PM |
And ironically, Selena who J. Lo portrayed in film was a brown-skinned mestiza who looked more Indigenous than white. I feel like many Mexicans considered that "white-washing" because J. Lo looks like the rich whites in Mexico who live in the gated communities of the North.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | January 20, 2021 8:00 PM |
She looks African in the OP pic.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | January 20, 2021 8:01 PM |
R35R36 Alright, whatever you say. I guess J. Lo is white.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 20, 2021 8:02 PM |
J. Lo tans heavily. She has some Native American facial features but her light skin and hair texture is enough to have her considered "white" in Latin America. Color in Latin America is much more literal.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 20, 2021 8:03 PM |
J Lo isn’t white.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 20, 2021 8:06 PM |
I thought it was beautiful to see a Puerto-Rican/American represented on stage. Since the last time we saw Trump around one, he was tossing him a roll of paper towels.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | January 20, 2021 8:08 PM |
I didn't care for her performance, she didn't embarrass herself however...
by Anonymous | reply 42 | January 20, 2021 8:11 PM |
She’s one of those people who hasn’t had a hit song in years yet she keeps getting invited to high profile gigs for some reason (this, the Super Bowl last year, etc).
by Anonymous | reply 43 | January 20, 2021 8:11 PM |
It was 100% lip sang.

I was disappointed she didn't climb up on a pole.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 20, 2021 8:14 PM |
She was the tackiest looking person there.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 20, 2021 8:17 PM |
She looked wonderful in white Chanel. To those who say she’s had work done, her chicken pox marks are still there. Voice was much better than I expected. Then she had to inject that extinct hit of hers (so it wasn’t even a commercial move) into the coda of her patriotic rendition. That was tacky, the moment in Spanish would have been powerful enough. She didn’t need to argue with a chaotic cry to have people get loud (the one thing we don’t need).
by Anonymous | reply 48 | January 20, 2021 8:18 PM |
Segue, not argue
by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 20, 2021 8:19 PM |
....
by Anonymous | reply 50 | January 20, 2021 8:20 PM |
That was completely lip synched then cut to a live mic for a brief moment.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | January 20, 2021 8:21 PM |
That white Chanel suit was not a great choice. But she was fine. It was a great day. If you look at who really stole the show according to social media, Amanda Gorman most certainly did.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 20, 2021 8:22 PM |
With her paper-thin voice & inability to project any modicum of emotion or might, had I been her I would have faked sudden dire sickness before facing the embarrassment of taking the stage after Lady Gaga. J.Lo was awful, but just like anything with her, she just shows up to hear how good Twitter says she looks "for her age". Poor thing understands that that's her only contribution anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | January 20, 2021 8:23 PM |
Please, jlo would be considered an "india" in Latin America, which is a racist term asholes use in Latin America when one is not white passing or white.

R18, she said “One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
I thought she looked fierce. She sounded good, too, but it seemed too good...I.e., lip-synced. She definitely had at least a sweetening track in addition to the military band because there were audible strings in the accompaniment.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 20, 2021 8:35 PM |
Jello was about as exciting as her namesake, and not one of the good flavors.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | January 20, 2021 8:38 PM |
I'm still perplexed why they chose her. Curious to see who they shortlisted for that segment. Maybe she's not even the first choice?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | January 20, 2021 8:40 PM |
If there was a low point in the swearing in ceremony, J Lo was it. 'Stole the show"? Hardly.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | January 20, 2021 8:42 PM |
I guess between her and Selena I would take Jlo, but maybe they could have the actress from the Selma Miniseries come and say it’s a hologram instead?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | January 20, 2021 8:46 PM |
Joe's victory depended a lot on the Latinx community (except for the simps in south Florida). He's going to do a lot for them, including fixing Trump's immigration debacle.
JLo was there for diversity.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 20, 2021 8:49 PM |
I think it would have sounded a lot better if she’d benefitted from lip syncing.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 20, 2021 8:49 PM |
Lady Gaga was fantastic, no comparison. And I'm not a fan,.

by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 20, 2021 8:51 PM |
Best parts of JLo's performance
* Singing "this land was made for you and me" while being Latina
* Evita-like yelling in Spanish
BECAUSE JLo provoked a MAGA-breakdown. See the woman below crying, begging Trump to come back because "it's our land" "it's our country" and to "please save us from the devil"
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 20, 2021 8:59 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 71 | January 20, 2021 9:09 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 72 | January 20, 2021 9:10 PM |
Well, she didn’t dance on a pole, so...no.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | January 20, 2021 9:10 PM |

JLO spoke Spanish and made Deplorables cry and that alone elevates her to icon status. Her performance makes history. Sorry Gaga and Garth.

by Anonymous | reply 85 | January 20, 2021 9:45 PM |
J Lo was great. She has a very pretty voice that is nice to listen to with limited range.... She did a more than what i thought she was capable of. Always thought of her kinda like Janet or Paula. Nice voice for pop, no range whatsoever.

by Anonymous | reply 88 | January 20, 2021 10:05 PM |
sorry but Jlo has zero talent. she must have major blackmail material on powerful people. And she is not fit. she's fat. but the papers will kiss her ass and say she's in amazing shape etc...

gaga, no jlo stole the show.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | January 20, 2021 10:08 PM |
Gaga’s tempo changes were annoying. AND the mid-Atlantic affectations—is that new?
by Anonymous | reply 91 | January 20, 2021 10:30 PM |
R43 She was invited because she represents an 'acceptable' minority for a situation like today. Now that the Jacksons are long gone, it's hard to find a minority performer that won't offend middle America.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | January 20, 2021 10:39 PM |
I dunno, I rather like Lady Gaga better. There's something very endearing about her wackiness.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | January 20, 2021 10:42 PM |
The horror of having J-Lo over, say, Taylor Dayne. You know it chaps every last Trump and Trump-spouse that they never got to mingle with anyone above the Z-list.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | January 20, 2021 10:44 PM |
JLo’s makeup person must be the same as Plump’s. Shockingly hideous.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | January 20, 2021 10:45 PM |
JLo and Gaga were OK, but uninspiring IMHO. I prefer my singers to have stronger voices, like Riri or Audra Mcdonald.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | January 20, 2021 10:49 PM |
She has an average voice frankly, but was professional. She looked fine, she's done some good acting work, and she's famous, so she gets a pass. Garth sounded kind of average too. Gaga was very good, though no one compares to Whitney Houston.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | January 20, 2021 10:51 PM |
I assume JLo had a backing track just because she nodded for them to begin the song. Garth didn't do that, and I missed Gaga. JLo and ARod were in hog heaven talking to the Obamas and Clintons afterwards as well.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | January 20, 2021 10:54 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 101 | January 20, 2021 11:10 PM |
I preferred Gaga, but the person who really stole the show was Amanda Gorman, the poet who closed the proceedings so brilliantly.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | January 20, 2021 11:11 PM |
She's a great performer, not a great singer. But she did better than I expected her to and I'm glad she was included to trigger the maggots.

by Anonymous | reply 104 | January 20, 2021 11:19 PM |
She was great. I’m not impressed by Gaga. She’s too try hard. J-lo really got the convos going from what I hear. Of course the poet then stole the show. Garth was ehhh. He really can’t sing. Men never get raked over the coals for their vocals. J-lo vocals >>>>>>> Garth. When all was said and done though, it was having Kamala sworn in as the first female Vp that was memorable, followed by Biden then the poet.

She didn't mess up. I was praying that she sounded decent and she did. The bar was low and she crossed it.
She didn't steal the show but sounded alright. I think a lot of people and not just me didn't want her to sound awful so all people talked about was her. She had one NY Bronx girl out burst at the end but it was fine.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | January 21, 2021 12:54 AM |
The poet was a disappointment for me. Not only was her poem full of generalized cliches but she, like many others over the process of this election season, has neglected to remember & acknowledge history & progress. American history did not begin with Donald Trump nor was it kickstarted with Kamala Harris. Progress was made before his term as President. Shirley Chisolm ran for President, Geraldine Ferraro & Sarah Palin were VPs on major party tickets & Barrack Obama was indeed black. Kamala Harris is merely an extension of progression, not the beginning, as so many have liked to see her achievement as. Democracy wasn't destroyed when Trump "took" office, nor was it restored when Harris was asked to run with Biden. Democracy was neglected & undermined by anyone who failed to vote in 2016, then spent the next 4 years bitching about the election outcome. Neglecting to recognize actual progression & not participating in your democracy is really your choice to give another Trump another chance. 2016-2020 was a period that American voters should learn from. Let's see. America is on the right track & moving forward, even if after correcting its course by voting Trump out. Anyone who can't/doesn't recognize this is really just in the fucking way, left or right.

Mariah on the other hand, is now old, fat, ugly can’t dance and now can’t sing. 😂 jlo knows her weaknesses and learn how to improve her skills and I admire her for that
by Anonymous | reply 125 | January 21, 2021 2:18 AM |
J Lo was fine; far better than expected. Gaga was a bit melodramatic in rendition and dress but how else can one sign that song. She definitely was the one stealing the show. Garth was good but I’ve heard him in better voice. All much more than satisfactory.

Let's give her credit where it's due: it's clear she's been working on her singing over the last year or so. She sounds so much better and different than she used to. She's probably reflected on her career & knows that her early vocals were not good at all. We've seen & heard the YouTube exposès: she had a thin, unimpressive voice and relied way too much on other people's vocals to support (and sometimes substitute for) her own. She has nothing to lose and I wouldn't be surprised if she's been working with a voice teacher. She should keep it up, because it's doing her good.

Definitely singing from a track. Notice when Garth followed her, you could hear some natural live reverb. Shockingly, she managed to “sing” without any! Also, notice the tell tale positioning of her mic in front of her mouth so it’s hard to see where she is off...
Still, I thought she need a nice job, even recognizing she had some enhancement in the studio.

I admit I only saw a very little bit of it at the beginning. I really had to whiz and didn't want to miss Joe taking the oath.
It must have gone fast because I was surprised I missed that much of it when I got back to the TV.
I guess I can check it out on yt

I'd rather JLo perform than the tiresome Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Not only did she lip sync the whole performance up until it cut to a live mic at the end, that prerecorded singing wasn't even her. That's not her voice. She totally Milli Vanilli-ed that.

Yep, that's all you need to know about J Lo.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
