Your Favorite Brand(s)

Crest Toothpaste. I had a brief flirtation with Close-Up in the 90s, but I'm a consistent Crest user.

What is a brand that you will never give up on?

by Anonymousreply 99January 21, 2021 7:26 PM

I float between Crest and Colgate. I love Crest White Strips.

My brands: Clinique, Kiehl's, Evian, Honda/Acura.

by Anonymousreply 1January 19, 2021 12:47 PM

Can R1 be gayer? Aveeno is right for my parched skin. I wear the Gap! I use bath and body works body wash. Dawn soap Because they washed oil covered ducks. Scott TP. Persil, tide or at least Gain. My brands: Clinique, Kiehl's, Evian, Honda/Acura.

by Anonymousreply 2January 19, 2021 12:58 PM

Tanqueray gin, Hellmann's mayonnaise, and full-sized black Bic lighters. For everything else I have two or three brands that are acceptable, or it doesn't matter at all.

by Anonymousreply 3January 19, 2021 1:11 PM

Hendricks for the gin. Hellman’s for the mayo. Grey Poupon for the mustard. Basic Nivea for men face products. Like R3, other than that not very brand loyal.

by Anonymousreply 4January 19, 2021 1:35 PM

Lea & Perrins worcestershire sauce, Tide liquid laundry detergent (no Febreeze or Oxywhatever added), Colgate Total toothpaste, Astroglide (regular stuff) and Bounty (not Essentials) paper towel.

Dunhill cigarettes for thirty years id the brand I gave up on twenty years ago and as a consequence, I'm still here.

Otherwise I've stuck with Stafford heavyweight t-shirts from Penney's, Allen Edmonds shoes and New Balance sneakers (even though NB's owners are assholes, they're assholes making wide sizes and I have big feet), LG appliances, American Airlines, Hellman's mayonnaise, Pur water filters, Grav labs glassware, Sofia Coppola (domestic) and Pol Roger Cuvee Winston Churchill (French) champagne, Lenovo computers, Omega watches, Vanguard for investments, and the sane members of the Democratic Party to represent me.

R25 You weren't meant to. He's barely heard of them himself.

by Anonymousreply 26January 19, 2021 5:09 PM

I'd like to hear about brands where you buy more than just one of their products. I use Aveeno body wash, but that's all I use as far as the Aveeno brand.

I like Kirkland (Costco) of a lot of things. The liquid laundry soap (no scent), water filters for my Brita pitcher (way cheaper), etc.

by Anonymousreply 27January 19, 2021 5:14 PM

Stretch-Tite. I like the Costco/Kirkland version best (which is real Stretch-Tite, not some pale imitation), because the 750 foot roll lasts about two years.

When I saw it in an Australian supermarket, I knew they were discerning people, or at least when it comes to cling wrap.

Staleks (Ukrainian brand) for cuticle nippers. I know it sounds silly, but I was wanting a good pair of the nippers / cutters and I found them on eBay. You can buy them with a longer cutting edge than you can at the drugstore. The price is about the same as drugstore brands.

Heinz ketchup

by Anonymousreply 67January 20, 2021 5:12 AM

I always thought I liked Heinz the best, then I was "forced" to eat Hunt's ketchup at a small diner. Guess what? Hunt's was really good, maybe better than Heinz.

I also tried Kensington Ketchup. Expensive, upscale ketchup, not as good as Heinz and Hunt's.

R38 - “ What is it with all these people that use Hellman’s mayo? Everyone knows, Duke's Mayo is the *best* mayo!

I disagree. After at least 30+ years of using Hellman’s, I decided last month to give Duke’s a try. Bottom line, it’s too acidic for my taste. Too much lemon juice. I offered and gave the bottle to my neighbor. Back to Hellmans I go.

Some food brands:

Penzey's spices. Making chicken paprika today with their sweet Hungarian paprika.

San Pellegrino, plain. I used to drink the Whole Foods version, too, as it's 1/3 cheaper, but I hate to go there now.

De Cecco pasta. Usually cavatappi, angel hair, or bucatini.

Cento whole peeled tomatoes. I don't bother with the San Marzano variety. The regular ones are fine. But I always buy the whole ones, which I squish by hand or, more often, puree with my stick blender. I never use diced tomatoes, which have some chemical added that keeps their edges hard.

Coleman’s bacon

r85 - I know it sounds that way, though I am finicky about wearing nice shoes. They need to all leather, w/right cut, color and heel. But, I do not pay retail. I found DSW and Amazon Warehouse have the best overall discounts. I just don't care what brand the shoes are.

I am not a food person. Just is not something I care about. I have to be reminded to eat.
