This interview is soooo 2021, in the sense that NOTHING about it makes any sense. Lo-Fi pioneer Ariel Pink gets interviewed by Tucker Carlson to bemoan cancel culture, but it's so totally bizarre, that you don't come away remembering the reason for the interview. Pink went on Fox to discuss his experience of being suddenly "cancelled" by life (lol) because he is a Trump supporter and because he was at the Trump rally on January 6th. His label dropped him in the aftermath.
It gets weirder though. In the interview, Pink talks about how he's basically going to be on the street now because he can't tour (that's Covid, not being "cancelled" hunty). And boo hoo he can't record now either (why can't you record, mister lo-fi bedroom recording pioneer??). This fucker has a net worth listed at $14 million dollars on those celeb net worth sites. Even if it's only half of that in real life, he's still a multi-millionaire. Oh and his dad is a multi-milllionaire, and he grew up in Beverly Hills. Why is this bitch complaining about being potentially put on the street?!
Ariel Pink is also, as we speak, being sued by an ex-bandmate and girlfriend for Shia/Armie type stuff. That does not come up in conversation with Tucker. He certainly doesn't surmise that this could be an equally compelling reason for his label to drop him.
Finally, watch the video, if only to watch Tucker Carlson feign compassion and curiosity for a musician he has never listened to, and whom he wouldn't even glance at in the street if that person were being attacked or in need of CPR. This is some weird, crazy, funny voodoo right here. Any fans? Are you surprised someone as weird and creative as Ariel Pink could vote for Trump?
