The 20th. I could be wrong but I don’t think armed marches on Sunday will be significant. But the 20th feels scary.

by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 16, 2021 12:34 AM |
I don't think there will be a repeat of what happened on the 6th. Everything is too well locked down and defended.
What we should be keeping an eye out for is in the months/years to come as they figure out alternative ways to cause disruption and havoc. I think the places to watch will be the state buildings - particularly in the gun toting states. Dump may be out of office but the MAGA cult "movement" isn't going anywhere especially when they are convinced that the election was stolen and that nobody will listen to them.
Best thing America could do is to make sure he can never run for office again and at least the MAGA cult will have that road block/possibility removed permanently. Otherwise they are going to spend the next 4 years campaigning for him.

I'm praying for maximum casualties among the Proud Boys and any other band of freaks who are dumb enough to try something. I read today that the National Guard has been given the okay to use deadly force. And they have also upped the number of Nat. Guard troops to 25,000.

The 20th wouldn't give Trump time to enact Martial Law, which is what he was discussing with his cabal today.

Unfortunately, they set it up to be a range of possible dates, which was deliberate and also could simply continue into Biden’s presidency. This is especially true if they (R of all classes) remain possessed and in denial.

Far more worried about violence in the states, not really DC. Especially Michigan.
But-there was a rehearsal scheduled for Sunday and they postponed it to Monday out of security concerns, which is off because DC is a green zone and there are 20k troops there. So they don’t feel secure? I’m sure after the colossal fuck up on the 6th they aren’t taking ANYTHING lightly but still odd.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 16, 2021 1:23 AM |
Wouldn't bother me a bit if the guardsmen just opened fire on them.

The angry mob on January 6 were like the angry townsfolk in Beauty and the Beast, but on Redbull and meth. Dragging a police officer on the Capitol steps and beating him with a confederate flag barely registers a shrug from today’s Republicans. It may take shooting them in the head to get the point across that it’s illegal.

Security measures are being strengthened in and around Michigan’s capitol in Lansing following the FBI’s warning of “armed protests” at state capitals.
“We're hoping for the best. We’re hoping for a peaceful protest. We believe in First Amendment rights, but we’re preparing for the worst,” Lansing Mayor Andy Schor told CNN.
A fence has been erected around the capitol and lawmakers will not be inside the building starting Monday through Thursday. The state's Capitol Commission banned the open carry of firearms inside the building starting Monday.
These are all “precautionary measures,” Schor said.
“Downtown is a vibrant neighborhood and residents and businesses there should feel confident knowing that the Lansing Police Department is working closely with the Michigan State Police, Ingham County Sheriff’s Department and other police agencies to ensure these planned events remain peaceful,” Andy Schor said in a statement Saturday. “I am asking residents and those who live in the Lansing area to stay out of the downtown area and to not engage with demonstrators who come to our city with ill intentions."
Schor also asked Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to activate the Michigan National Guard to provide additional security around the state capitol on Sunday and on inauguration day.
Some background: Whitmer was the target in an alleged domestic terror plot by members of right-wing militia groups last year.
In May, protesters — some of whom were armed — entered inside the building to demand an end to the state's state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There's been a lot of commentary about how the protesters and rioters on Jan. 6 were above average in income and wealth—like the typical Trump voter. The off-duty cops and high-flying Texas realtor were more typical than the Q Shaman and the Nashville unemployed bartender with the flex cuffs. The notion that Trump's supporters are economically disadvantaged is just a falsehood to distract from their actual motivations, bigotry and resentment.

US Capitol Police arrested a Virginia man as he attempted to pass through a police checkpoint in downtown Washington, DC, Friday with fake inaugural credentials, a loaded handgun and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, according to a police report and a law enforcement source briefed on the situation.
The incident occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. when Wesley Allen Beeler pulled his pick-up truck to a police vehicle checkpoint at North Capitol and E Street NE, just north of the Capitol building, the source told CNN.
Beeler, from Front Royal, Virginia, presented officers with what was described as an unauthorized inauguration credential.
When police asked Beeler if he was carrying any weapons, Beeler told them he had a Glock semi-automatic pistol in the center armrest, the source said. The Glock was loaded with 17 rounds of ammunition and a round chamber ready to fire, the source said.
Police later recovered the pistol, as well as 509 rounds of ammunition, shotgun shells and a magazine for the handgun, according to an incident report provided by the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department.
Beeler was arrested for possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of unregistered ammunition, among other offenses, the report said.

A local BLM organization has issued a travel advisory for black people in Iowa through January 27th. It states that black people should not travel alone, avoid traveling at night, and if they need to go somewhere, to let someone know where they're going and when they expect to be back home. Some white nationalist groups have been making threats about caravanning and going after black people. It happened last week about an hour from me, a black family had to flee a shopping center because a "Trump Train" caravan pulled in to the parking lot and started threatening them.

Ugh, R51. That is disgusting. Only 4 more days and the Biden Administration and the Democrat-controlled Congress can finally declare far-rt extremists to be domestic terrorists, prosecute them under federal guidelines, and lock them up for a long time.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | January 16, 2021 9:15 PM |
That won't happen, R52. Political scientists and hopefully decision-makers in the Biden administration understand that that formula is the way to create a martyr class and bring on even more right-wing hatred. These fuckers are GOING TO PRISON FOR THE CRIMES THEY COMMITTED.
With any luck, quite a few of them will be shot tomorrow, as they assault more police officers and government buildings.
Randy Weaver was a "martyr" for these ignorant, right wing, white supremacist, gun-freak cunts and how often do we hear about him now? Never. Their "'martyrdom" is as shallow as their cracked-out beliefs.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | January 16, 2021 9:41 PM |
No, R53. It's the way to punish these dangerous extremists who have become emboldened by Trump's racially-charged rhetoric and fascist propaganda, who are actively terrorizing any American who doesn't look like them or who disagree with with their political and religious points of view and insane conspiracy theories, and who are planning at this very moment to unleash violence on DC and all 50 state capitals at the behest of their psychopathic crybaby president. The US has become a war zone and a global focal point of derision because of them.
Therefore, fuck your self-serving insults of "ignorance and gamer mentality," you Nazi-loving fuck.

Right now there is indeed a shit ton of intelligence on coming violence, and they are deeply embedded with former Special Ops. So....imagine 3,000 Tim McVeighs.
Be on alert, do *not* go out, report all suspicious activity to the FBI. Report any suspicious activity online as well — report to the FBI. If you see something weird going on while driving — no rubbernecking — keep driving and get away. Spread the word to everyone you know, the FBI (and other LEO’s) need the help of the general public right now. They will be using our national terror alert system again soon (remember daily threat levels? Those will come back after the next attack). If you are a POC, please be on a high alert. These POS are all going down, but it’s going to take a long time and more violence.

WASHINGTON — Military vehicles and police barricades lined the streets of the nation’s capital and surrounded statehouses across the country on Sunday, as officials braced for pro-Trump protests amid concerns about potential violence or domestic terrorism.
Striving to head off any repeat of the riot less than two weeks ago, when President Trump’s supporters breached the Capitol in Washington, D.C., state officials have deployed National Guard troops, shut down statehouse grounds and delayed legislative sessions in response to F.B.I. notices that white supremacists and right-wing extremists could target capital cities across the country.
People posting on right-wing websites and social media have called for supporters to march on Washington and all 50 state capitols on Sunday, with plans in Washington for a march to end at the White House. In recent days, however, as officials have beefed up precautions, some posters sought to discourage people from turning out, making it unclear what to expect.
In Washington, concerns mounted over the weekend ahead of the presidential inauguration on Wednesday. A militarized “green zone” grew downtown, as streets were blocked by concrete barricades and military vehicles, and police sirens blared frequently on Saturday. Pentagon officials said that 9,500 National Guard members from 46 states and 3 territories had arrived in Washington by Saturday, and that as many as 25,000 are expected by Wednesday.
Federal officials are vetting hundreds of possible airplane passengers, putting any who have been identified among the violent protesters at the Capitol on Jan. 6 on a “no fly list.” The Transportation Security Administration added federal marshals on flights and explosive-detection dogs at airports.
State capitals were quiet on Saturday, but many streets around Capitol buildings were heavily policed and militarized, and looked similar to those in downtown Washington Across the country, at least 19 states activated National Guard units.
In Virginia, site of a rally a year ago on Martin Luther King’s Birthday that drew thousands of gun-rights protesters to Richmond and prompted concerns about violent extremism, Gov. Ralph Northam issued a warning: “If you’re planning to come here or up to Washington with ill intent in your heart, you need to turn around right now and go home.”
Potentially violent protests are expected on Sunday and Wednesday in Michigan, where armed and angry demonstrators crowded into the State Capitol in April to protest coronavirus lockdown orders Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has activated the Michigan National Guard, and a six-foot fence has been erected around the Statehouse in Lansing, where windows of state office buildings have been boarded up.
The state Legislature has canceled several sessions scheduled for this week after “credible threats” were received by Michigan State Police.
Gov. Gavin Newsom of California authorized the deployment of 1,000 National Guard troops and had the State Capitol grounds in Sacramento surrounded with a chain-link fence.
“There will be no tolerance for violence,” Mr. Newsom said last week, referring to the attack on the nation’s Capitol. “California will take every necessary measure to protect public safely and our democratic principles, and to ensure that those disgraceful actions are not repeated here.”

U.S. Capitol Police have arrested a woman they said drove up to an inauguration checkpoint and falsely claimed she was a police officer and a member of the president’s cabinet, the authorities said.
The arrest on Saturday is the latest to raise alarms as the city braces for planned protests on Sunday and possible clashes on Wednesday, when Joseph R. Biden Jr. is scheduled to be sworn in as the next president.
As many as 25,000 National Guard troops are expected to flood the city by Inauguration Day, and officials have tried to keep some people who participated in the Capitol riots on Jan. 6 from returning to the city.
The arrest on Friday of a Virginia man who had a gun in his truck raised residents’ fears until it was determined that the man appeared to be a security contractor who had illegally brought his personal gun into the District, where it was not registered.
Early on Sunday morning, city police officers also arrested a 22-year-old man from Virginia who they said had a handgun that he was not allowed to carry in the District. The man, identified as Guy Berry, 22, of Gordonsville, Va., was walking about a block away from Columbus Circle and had a Glock that was visible in a holster, three high-capacity magazines and 37 rounds of ammunition, the police said.
The woman arrested on Saturday, who the police identified as Linda MaGovern, 63, of Stratford, Conn., pulled up to a checkpoint near Columbus Circle, about half a mile from the U.S. Capitol, around 8:45 a.m. and showed officers a “military police challenge coin,” an unofficial keepsake widely distributed in military and police communities, according to a report from the city’s Metropolitan Police Department. The woman initially parked her car at the request of officers, but when they asked for her driver’s license, she began to drive away, the police said.
The police were able to stop her a few hundred feet away, in front of Union Station, and she was accused of three crimes: impersonating a police officer, failing to obey a police officer and trying to flee a police officer. The report said she was taken to a hospital for evaluation at a psychiatric unit. Ms. MaGovern could not immediately be reached.
The Metropolitan Police Department frequently makes gun arrests, although they rarely receive so much attention. In the week between Dec. 28 and Jan. 4, for example, the department reported that it had recovered 59 guns and arrested dozens of people on related gun charges.
