Is Kamala ready to take over?

Be honest. Don't be optimistic.

Biden is 78. Nancy is 80.

Most of our Democratic leadership are more than just Senior Citizens. They're practically ancient.

If one or more of them should become incapacitated for whatever reason, do you truly believe in your heart of hearts that Kamala is ready to lead on "day one?"

Or will the Republicans smell blood in the water?

Personally, I just hope and hope and hope some more that Biden will be perfectly fine for the next four years.

And then we can take it from there.

by Anonymousreply 71January 16, 2021 9:40 PM

I don't think people want to even talk about it until they're firmly in thru the door.

[quote]Is Kamala ready to take over?

She'll have to be.

by Anonymousreply 1January 16, 2021 12:09 AM

[quote] I don't think people want to even talk about it until they're firmly in thru the door.

That's very true, R1.

It seems like time is dragging, leading up to January 20.

I just want that disgusting fucker and his disgusting family OUT of the White House, and out of our lives.

by Anonymousreply 2January 16, 2021 12:11 AM

The incoming administration is not comprised solely of Biden and Harris. Joe is putting a solid team in place. He is restoring our democracy. Congress is changing for the better.

I hope Joe stays healthy but if Kamala has to step-up to POTUS, she’s ready.

It’s not about one person now. It’s about us, and we’re ready too.

by Anonymousreply 3January 16, 2021 12:13 AM

... You do know who's been befouling the Resolute Desk for the last four years, right? Today we had the My Pillow guy walk into the Oval Office with notes that said MARTIAL LAW.

A President Harris would need some time to get up to speed, but she would surround herself with smart people.

by Anonymousreply 4January 16, 2021 12:13 AM

Joe is #1.

Kamala is #2.

Nancy is #3.

Who will be #4, #5, #6, and #7?

by Anonymousreply 5January 16, 2021 12:13 AM

I have confidence in Kamala Harris. Could she be any worse than the dummy we’ve been dealing with for the past four years? No. She’s much smarter. MUCH smarter.

by Anonymousreply 6January 16, 2021 12:18 AM

You've already put my mind at ease, R6.

Perspective.

Whew!

by Anonymousreply 7January 16, 2021 12:19 AM

[quote]do you truly believe in your heart of hearts that Kamala is ready to lead on "day one?"

Jesus Christ. She'll be fine. Our current president isn't ready to lead on day 1,453 or whatever day we're on now. Plus, she won't have a Cabinet full of unqualified grifters. She wouldn't be my first pick, but she's completely qualified. She wouldn't have been chosen as Biden's running mate if she weren't. She's not Sarah Palin.

by Anonymousreply 8January 16, 2021 12:22 AM

[quote] Is Kamala ready to take over?

Hell no, and who would know better than me.

by Anonymousreply 9January 16, 2021 12:30 AM

[quote] Could she be any worse than the dummy we’ve been dealing with for the past four years?

Not exactly the benchmark to measure anybody by. Obama's experience level may be the best to compare with. I'd say she is smart enough to compensate any lack of experience. But she's done well as senator. She knows how to work the legislation. I'd give her an 8 out of 10 for preparedness and challenge you to find five other senators with more experience in executive and legislature.

[quote] Is Kamala ready to take over?

[quote] Hell no, and who would know better than me. —Willie Brown

Your mama.

by Anonymousreply 11January 16, 2021 12:32 AM

Who would she pick as VP if she assumed the presidency?

by Anonymousreply 12January 16, 2021 12:35 AM

Kamala is ready. I think she'll make a great president when her time comes.

by Anonymousreply 13January 16, 2021 12:37 AM

[quote] Who would she pick as VP if she assumed the presidency?

Barack Obama.

She's going to need all the help she can get!

by Anonymousreply 14January 16, 2021 12:38 AM

There is no way anyone could be less ready than Trump, other than perhaps the My Pillow guy. She’s a more experienced politician now than Trump was when he was elected, more than he is even now after four years of this shit.

by Anonymousreply 15January 16, 2021 12:38 AM

Just get them in! That's all I can think about at the moment. We can deal with the future later.

That said - Kamala seems competent, eloquent, educated, intelligent and is politically experienced. We could certainly do a lot worse and you know exactly what I mean. (Dump)

by Anonymousreply 16January 16, 2021 12:41 AM

No. That's why I voted for my girl Lizzie, and why I wish she were president now.

But I guess I should just be grateful Biden won.

by Anonymousreply 17January 16, 2021 12:45 AM

She is not. I was terrified by her debate performance against Pence. She lost that debate (i was rooting for her). On the bright side, assuming that's an indicator of future performance, she could never be any worse than the outgoing dictator. I also think it's sad that the US still isn't ready for a female President. This was proven in the last election.

by Anonymousreply 18January 16, 2021 12:47 AM

She would never have been elected R17. She was never a realistic candidate. And if she had been the candidate we would have had another Dump 4 year term.

by Anonymousreply 19January 16, 2021 12:47 AM

It's strange how little people seem to care that she's the first woman VP or that this is the first time a woman has won on a major party ticket.

by Anonymousreply 20January 16, 2021 12:48 AM

Well she was ready to suck my cock and climb the California political ladder.

by Anonymousreply 21January 16, 2021 12:48 AM

[quote] It's strange how little people seem to care that she's the first woman VP or that this is the first time a woman has won on a major party ticket.

OR that she's part black and part Indian.

I guess after Obama, nobody gives a shit any more.

Personally, I don't see her ethnicity at all. She just looks like your average soccer mom.

by Anonymousreply 22January 16, 2021 12:57 AM

After Trump? What a stupid question.

by Anonymousreply 23January 16, 2021 1:00 AM

There are plenty of younger democrats on the cusp. Honestly, I think Kamala can make a great president. Look at Barack. He went from giving a speech at the DNC to running to 8 years as one of the most beloved presidents.

by Anonymousreply 24January 16, 2021 1:02 AM

You ask this, OP, after Trump?!

by Anonymousreply 25January 16, 2021 1:03 AM

R22, she's a bit more attractive than your average soccer mom.

by Anonymousreply 26January 16, 2021 1:04 AM

Besides being a Senator, Kamala was Attorney General for California for 6 years and before that was the District attorney for San Francisco. So yes, she's qualified. At least she's spent time in public service whereas that Orange blob was just a grifter.

by Anonymousreply 27January 16, 2021 1:05 AM

We get it already, r21.

by Anonymousreply 28January 16, 2021 1:05 AM

Kamala Harris is better than Trump??? I know the media has made sure nothing positive Trump has done was positive for the country and the sheep believe it. Lets just start with the stock market. Was at 20,000 when he came in and has his 30,000 at least once. That is beyond anything any President has done period. Kamala didn't even garner 1% in the Democratic Primaries. She dropped out. She is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 29January 16, 2021 1:12 AM

R29, that's probably an artificial bubble which will soon burst. He threw money at the stock market.

How come you or the Rethugs don't address the deficit and how much debt we are now in since he took office? Funny, how the Rethugs whined the deficit when a Dem takes offic but ignored what Trump did. btw, all those trips golfing? About $141 million billed to the US Taxpayer.

Biden needs to live forever. Kamala is politically tone deaf. She’s not very politically intuitive. If she could think, strategize, and speak as fluently as Pete Buttigieg then I would have the confidence that she could carry the Party.

She is Biden’s VP simply because she’s a female and black. Not because of her political prowess and astuteness. I don’t think she can get the Republicans that voted for Biden to vote for her.

by Anonymousreply 31January 16, 2021 1:50 AM

R21= racist Trumpstain

by Anonymousreply 32January 16, 2021 1:56 AM

R29= another Trumpstain. Possibly that Bucks County yard sign troll, but I can’t tell for sure.

by Anonymousreply 33January 16, 2021 1:59 AM

oh no, the Buttigieg fan again.

by Anonymousreply 34January 16, 2021 2:03 AM

Queen Elizabeth is 94. Kamala has a long wait to take over.

by Anonymousreply 35January 16, 2021 2:13 AM

R29, Trump's disastrous trade policies resulted in his raiding the Treasury to silence Midwest farmers.

His disastrous Covid-19 actions have resulted in the need to help workers and families with "stimulus checks."

The stock market is not the entire economy.

by Anonymousreply 36January 16, 2021 2:27 AM

And r29? Have you looked at the Trump Deficit?

It would take effort to be worse than Trump.

by Anonymousreply 37January 16, 2021 2:29 AM

[quote] How come you or the Rethugs don't address the deficit and how much debt we are now in since he took office?

Well, it's not that they don't have principles. They have a clear rule, that they follow religiously for decades: Be frugal only when the president is a Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 38January 16, 2021 2:50 AM

[quote] Queen Elizabeth is 94. Kamala has a long wait to take over.

That's the spirit!

by Anonymousreply 39January 16, 2021 2:54 AM

[quote]Biden needs to live forever. Kamala is politically tone deaf. She’s not very politically intuitive.

I see that it is necessary to remind you all, again, that Biden's candidacy ONLY came to fruition in the very last moments of the primaries because Jim Clyburn gave Joe Biden his stamp of approval. Black voters got the ok to vote for him in South Carolina. His campaign was failing miserably before that, just like Harris' was. So please stop posting like he had overwhelming support from Dems the entire primary, or that he has some astute political prowess that Harris lacks. The black vote sealed the deal for Biden and that's that. Yes Harris is black and you better be glad she is or you would not have your President Biden.

by Anonymousreply 40January 16, 2021 2:58 AM

Kamala was SF's District Attorney for several years before she was elected to the U.S. Senate. I know several people who worked for her. She is brilliant and charming -- and takes no BS. She had zero critics with any credibility. When I voted for her for Senator, in the back of my mind I thought she's make a great president one day and I look forward to her being President after Biden -- whenever that should occur. I hope that she will be further to the left than Centrist Biden. Yeah, she's hella read!

BTW, I met Nancy Pelosi many years ago when she was first elected to Congress -- after having campaigned against her (for Harry Britt, the SF Supervisor appointed by DiFi after Harvey Milk was assassinated). WHOA! What a wicked sense of humor and a foul mouth, lol. It's a great story that I've posted before.

r31, fuck you, you stupid bigot.

by Anonymousreply 41January 16, 2021 4:15 AM

[quote] Biden is 78. Nancy is 80. Most of our Democratic leadership are more than just Senior Citizens. They're practically ancient. If one or more of them should become incapacitated for whatever reason, do you truly believe in your heart of hearts that Kamala is ready to lead on "day one?"

You seem to be under the mistaken idea that Kamala Harris would take over for Nancy Pelosi. The Vice-President only takes over for the President, not for the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

by Anonymousreply 42January 16, 2021 4:24 AM

Canadian here, and all I can say is that most of us fucking relieved and look forward to having a normal relationship with the US under Biden and a more than competent VP. Harris will be great, and, if she has to take over at any point, she will do just fine.

by Anonymousreply 43January 16, 2021 4:34 AM

R40 And as it turned out Biden was the only Democratic candidate that could actually take down Trump - and win!

by Anonymousreply 44January 16, 2021 4:38 AM

Listen I’m an old conservative looking white man who many people probably assume voted for Trump. I don’t see black. I don’t see female. I see a smart no nonsense human who I think is capable to run the country. I wish Biden a healthy 4 maybe 8 years but I’m not worried if God forbid he can’t fulfill his term.

by Anonymousreply 45January 16, 2021 4:39 AM

Definition of Conservative:

✅ Southern Strategy to divide country by race.

✅ Kids in cages

✅ Corporate Welfare Socialism

✅ Depressions, Recessions.

✅ Inflated Deficits

✅ Insurrections

✅ Pandemics and death

✅ Lies lies lies

by Anonymousreply 46January 16, 2021 5:39 AM

It's a new Presidential era now. One thing about Trump, I'll say he brought to light how in some ways the Presidency and government need to be organized in a bit of a more business-model approach, with less than overbloatingly needed delays and indecisiveness and more delegation. Kind of like how IMO Hillary during Clinton's tenure became a symbol of a the first Working First Lady while in office. If Kamala were to ascend to the Presidency one day--and even now, I'm sure Biden is on top of this--it's a new era where we realize executive managers who are savvy are ones who surround themselves with experts in their fields and let them do what they each need to do to make him look good and carry out his goals. I think she'd do that and do just fine.

by Anonymousreply 47January 16, 2021 6:30 AM

Trump proved the job is a no-brainer. No one will ever be impressed by the President again.

by Anonymousreply 48January 16, 2021 6:37 AM

Dump convinced himself that he could do better than any black person. He was offended that a Bkack man was elected President. He is the living embodiment of white supremacy and that is why those yokels would kiss his anointed feet.

If Kamala ever became US President, the military would have to make peace with gunning these Trumpists down because no amount of reason or rule of law would change their minds.

by Anonymousreply 49January 16, 2021 9:05 AM

[quote]Is Kamala ready to take over?

God above knows I was.

I now know he is dead.

by Anonymousreply 50January 16, 2021 9:09 AM

Hey Lotionman at Robert 31, I met Pelosi too, at a private function, and was massively impressed. Before that I liked her but was hardly a fan. She's older than Joe, and shows no sign of flagging, mentally or physically. LOVE how she insisted the house re-convene at midnight after the freaking siege.

Biden's seemed sharper with each successive press conference. I think he's hitting his stride as he assembles his team and starts to get his arms around the issues. He and Nancy are a couple of tough old birds, and the challenges seem to energize them.

by Anonymousreply 51January 16, 2021 9:23 AM

Whoa, R31, not Robert. Some very weird kind of autocorrect.

by Anonymousreply 52January 16, 2021 9:24 AM

Ugh, I mean R41. Up way past my bedtime

by Anonymousreply 53January 16, 2021 9:28 AM

Kamala is more than ready and will be President for 10 years.

by Anonymousreply 54January 16, 2021 10:03 AM

Not even Dems believe that she is the future of the party.

by Anonymousreply 55January 16, 2021 11:24 AM

[quote] Kamala is more than ready and will be President for 10 years.

That's a shitty thing to say, R54.

Joe Biden will serve out his full term.

Then Kamala will serve for eight years after that.

by Anonymousreply 56January 16, 2021 11:25 AM

Any sane, functioning adult will be welcome. Kamala more than fits the bill.

by Anonymousreply 57January 16, 2021 11:36 AM

I find OP's question to be very concerning.

by Anonymousreply 58January 16, 2021 11:41 AM

R49 the military is full of white supremacists.

by Anonymousreply 59January 16, 2021 11:51 AM

I was reading an article yesterday that referred to the upcoming 'Biden era', and it felt like reading oxygen. A new era. I can't quite believe that our Long National Nightmare is finally, finally, about to be over. After everything over the past two months, I've been a little too scared that something might happen before Wednesday, but - not to tempt fate - I think that I'm finally allowing myself to unhunch my shoulders a little.

And yeah, should she need to be, Kamala Harris will be ready. She is unapologetically smart, and doesn't suffer fools gladly. And, as always, bitches get stuff done.

by Anonymousreply 60January 16, 2021 11:55 AM

Yes. She’s ready. Biden wanted someone who had already been vetted on the campaign trail as a Presidential candidate herself. She’s been a legislator and she’s managed a large Justice Department during her career.

by Anonymousreply 61January 16, 2021 12:15 PM

Kamala ready to take over? As opposed to Trump after 4 years of complete incompetence as president? Of course Kamala is ready to take over.

by Anonymousreply 62January 16, 2021 12:16 PM

I’ll be honest AND optimistic.

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 63January 16, 2021 12:17 PM

[quote]One thing about Trump, I'll say he brought to light how in some ways the Presidency and government need to be organized in a bit of a more business-model approach, with less than overbloatingly needed delays and indecisiveness and more delegation.

The Dump Presidency actually showed us the complete opposite. “Business-model” approaches are complete failures. See also George W Bush. We need an experienced Washington insider who knows how to work with Congress and the existing DC power structure.

Dump delegated everything, including management of the coronavirus pandemic. How did that work out??

by Anonymousreply 64January 16, 2021 12:21 PM

[quote] Who would she pick as VP if she assumed the presidency?

All kidding aside, R12, I think this video was kind of a soft introduction to their relationship and/or trial balloon to see how he would be received.

by Anonymousreply 67January 16, 2021 7:15 PM

I like that Biden is making a lot of (relatively) younger and diverse picks, putting younger leadership closer to the top of the ladder.

Politics of late has been one great big "ok boomer" with all these senior shenanigans from people in their late 60s-early 80s not wanting to give it up, on both sides. It'll be a lot of what we've seen before till they move on.

Here's a fact check on the Trump list.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 68January 16, 2021 8:20 PM

I think Kamala will definitely be ready. You know who else is ready? Amy Klobuchar. Look the Dems have a deep bench. And I'm real impressed with Warnock and Ossoff. Georgia did us proud.

by Anonymousreply 69January 16, 2021 8:32 PM

[quote] Trump proved the job is a no-brainer.

The fuck he did. He has almost single-handedly destroyed our political culture, ruined our reputation abroad and with our allies, and completely abdicated all responsibility during a worldwide pandemic that has killed nearly half a million people in the US.

by Anonymousreply 70January 16, 2021 9:11 PM

My middle of the road 88-year old great-aunt LOVES Kamala. She wasn't on her radar at all before last year, and now she can't stop gushing about her. I know that's n=1, but I suspect Harris has broader appeal than some realize.
