The Nat’l Guard protecting the Capitol right now because of impeachment proceedings. It’s a beautiful sight. Think about how musky all those nutsacks must be.

by Anonymousreply 1January 13, 2021 3:47 PM

That's the National Guard, sleeping on the floor, prepared to protect the capital from insurgents.

by Anonymousreply 2January 13, 2021 3:47 PM

Phew! Ok.

by Anonymousreply 3January 13, 2021 3:48 PM

The pictures out of DC are pretty stunning. And it’s only Wednesday. The terrorists won’t get near that building if they even try. I assume the smarter, more organized militia won’t try because they know they’ll get destroyed in minutes. My fear is a month from now.

by Anonymousreply 4January 13, 2021 3:49 PM

R1 😂

by Anonymousreply 5January 13, 2021 3:49 PM

It’s so cute how they’re huddled together while sleeping.

by Anonymousreply 6January 13, 2021 3:49 PM

I'm with R1. I'd volunteer to offer them some relief.

by Anonymousreply 7January 13, 2021 4:04 PM

Damn thats a lot of morning wood 🍆

by Anonymousreply 8January 13, 2021 4:04 PM

R1, thank you for the diversion to normal!

by Anonymousreply 9January 13, 2021 4:09 PM

I agree with all the above but still, this is the United States and we need to have this type of military protection? It's crazy what one person can do to damage this country. I'm getting calls from foreign colleagues in countries that have had coups and they are passing on best wishes that this all ends up well. Seriously.

by Anonymousreply 10January 13, 2021 4:13 PM

R1 Jeez. Lol. Some of you do make me question if I deserve my gold star gay card because a room full of sweaty sacks just make me heave!

I agree with R10, it's a sad sight and maybe a reckoning. 40 years of increasing income inequality and the loss of all values except 'money' and 'winning' have led to this sight. The people who held their noses because of their 401Ks have a lot to answer for. I am a naturalized citizen so chose to make my home here and I am heartsick and have been for 4 years. I hope and pray that this is the wake up call that was needed and these sights dont become the norm every 4 years.

by Anonymousreply 11January 13, 2021 4:24 PM

Didn't Miss Lindsey G go to Texas with Trump? He must be cursing himself right now that he is missing out and Pence is getting all that soldier action.

by Anonymousreply 12January 13, 2021 4:29 PM

Sleeping on those hard marble floors has got to be painful.

by Anonymousreply 13January 13, 2021 4:35 PM

Ian Bremmer:

US Troops deployed to

Syria: 1,000

Iraq: 2,500

Afghanistan: 2,500

Washington DC: 6,200

(will be 10,000+ by Saturday)

by Anonymousreply 14January 13, 2021 4:44 PM

“I think you can except to see somewhere upwards beyond 20,000 members of the National Guard that will be here in the footprint of the District of Columbia,” acting D.C. police chief Robert J. Contee III said at a news conference today.

by Anonymousreply 15January 13, 2021 4:47 PM

Damn -- no inflatable mattresses and feather-down pillows?

by Anonymousreply 16January 13, 2021 4:54 PM

Marshall Law by Monday Morning

by Anonymousreply 17January 13, 2021 5:06 PM

I read there will be 20K troops.

by Anonymousreply 18January 13, 2021 5:08 PM

This is what should have happened before the electoral votes count.

by Anonymousreply 19January 13, 2021 5:24 PM

do you think they cat-call and whistle at AOC and other attractive (ish) Congresswomen? or are they under strict rules of conduct?

by Anonymousreply 20January 13, 2021 5:28 PM

And will we be supporting these YOUNG soldiers when the bullshit ends?

Do they still owe $100k on an education when this is over?

Is this their main source of income right now?

How bad of an economic disaster are we hiding with this theater?

by Anonymousreply 21January 13, 2021 5:29 PM

r21 upon closer inspection of the photo, not all of them are that young. Im only in my 30s and my back is already bad. Id be out of commission for days after sleeping on that hard floor.

by Anonymousreply 22January 13, 2021 5:40 PM

[quote] Is this their main source of income right now?

They're putting on a collaborative OnlyFans performance later on in the evening. They're calling it the 100 man freedom orgy.

by Anonymousreply 23January 13, 2021 5:48 PM

Our local guards have been working with the food bank and it’s a mixed age group, R22 .

These are not fungible human capital assets to be thrown at neckbeard terrorists.

by Anonymousreply 24January 13, 2021 5:49 PM

I'm glad they're beefing up security, but isn't having that many Guardsmen huddled so close together, with many of them not wearing masks, going to turn the Capitol into a COVID disaster? Have they all been vaccinated?

by Anonymousreply 25January 13, 2021 5:55 PM

gloryhole in basement

by Anonymousreply 26January 13, 2021 6:47 PM

It’s called a show of force. It’s a deterrent.

by Anonymousreply 28January 13, 2021 6:49 PM

I actually get some degree of happy anxiousness at the thought of some sort of uprising soon and watching scores of the unwashed Proud Boys, Boogaloos, and fake patriots getting their heads blown off.

by Anonymousreply 29January 13, 2021 6:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 31January 13, 2021 7:06 PM

R29 honestly I think those groups, especially the proud boys, are too smart to try anything this weekend and on Inauguration Day. They’d be outnumbered 10 to 1 and would be destroyed in minutes. The military has also labeled them as seditionists and would open fire on them as well.

by Anonymousreply 32January 13, 2021 7:12 PM

[quote] proud boys, are too smart

Proud boys and the word "smart" don't belong in the same hemisphere, let alone three words away from each other.

by Anonymousreply 33January 13, 2021 7:16 PM

I bet miss Lindsey wishes she was there right now...

R33 a lot of them are ex military. So they’re “smart” in the context of this.

by Anonymousreply 36January 13, 2021 7:34 PM

I was wondering why Hope Hicks was said to be roaming the halls of the U.S. Capitol today.

by Anonymousreply 37January 13, 2021 7:55 PM

That is how the Congresspersons would have been laid out had the insurrectionists found them.

Only with more blood.

by Anonymousreply 38January 13, 2021 7:57 PM

Our guys defending us from the traitor asshole republic party.

by Anonymousreply 39January 13, 2021 7:58 PM

It’s like Star Wars: 20,000 troops could suddenly be turned against Congress. Won’t happen though.

They are bunking the the Capitol Visitor Center, the vast (relatively new) complex built under the plaza east of the Capitol, between the Capitol and the Supreme Court/Library of congress.

One of the major construction contractors for the visitor center was Manhattan Construction Company, a privately held Oklahoma company run by Francis Rooney, who bought a seat in Congress in 2016 (from Naples, Fla.) and mysteriously decided not to run again, ending his term January 3, 2021.

Why aren't those men undressed if they're sleeping; and who have the booked to entertain them? I'd bring in Dolly Parton and Shawn Mendes.

by Anonymousreply 44January 13, 2021 8:34 PM

I guess we've all moved on from shrieking about, "but they're not wearing masks."

[quote] Not when the one person holds the most powerful position in the history of the world, with unmatchable and unlimited financial, legal, intelligence, communications, and bully-pulpit resources.

And a base of mental midgets.

by Anonymousreply 46January 13, 2021 8:38 PM

They have camping sleeping pads (look closely) so not quite as bad as sleeping on hard marble floors.

by Anonymousreply 47January 13, 2021 8:40 PM

Lady G will have an entourage as matchy as Gwen Stefani. Do reservists drape themselves with nips to the sky?

by Anonymousreply 48January 13, 2021 8:47 PM

It's possible they've been vaccinated, but the head of the Guard overseeing their deployment has already issued a statement complaining about the Republican members of Congress who aren't wearing masks when they stop and chat with the Guard members, so I think they're being pretty careful about the covid risk.

by Anonymousreply 49January 13, 2021 8:48 PM

I volunteer to serve the Guardsmen and their musky nutsacks.

by Anonymousreply 50January 13, 2021 8:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 56January 13, 2021 9:13 PM

R45 - yeah...at this rate we we NEVER go back to normal.

by Anonymousreply 57January 13, 2021 9:51 PM

Miss Lindsay is counting the moments until he gets back. Hasn't been this happy to go to work in her life.

by Anonymousreply 58January 13, 2021 9:56 PM

All those men together is like a DL fever dream come true!

by Anonymousreply 59January 13, 2021 10:16 PM

My honest first thought is Nancy should drag (if necessary) all house Democrats down there and serve coffee/snacks/dinner.

They could rotate for the guard outside (or just go outside). There are enough Dems to maintain a 24/7 rotation.

Yes, it would be a photo op, but an effective one, and it is the right thing to do.

by Anonymousreply 60January 13, 2021 11:13 PM

Can't they get them some cots? America is so ghetto anymore.

by Anonymousreply 62January 13, 2021 11:31 PM

Speaking of that freak, I think his company may be in trouble. I'm noticing more and more ads on TV where he's selling items at DEEEEEEEP discounts.

by Anonymousreply 64January 14, 2021 12:23 AM

Ok, everyone calm down. In the WAPO today, it was made clear that all the Guardspeople are staying at local hotels. The ones lying on the floors are resting between shifts.

by Anonymousreply 65January 14, 2021 12:14 PM

You wouldn’t happen to know the name of that hotel, now, would you?

by Anonymousreply 66January 14, 2021 12:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 67January 14, 2021 2:23 PM

R65 I want rest with them. They look so cute!

by Anonymousreply 68January 14, 2021 4:38 PM

The National Guard said it had to turn down many generous offers from local residents to assist the troops in their mission.

One wonders what those generous offers were.

by Anonymousreply 69January 14, 2021 4:53 PM

I wish I’d clicked on this link earlier, it’s hilarious. 😂😂😂

by Anonymousreply 70January 14, 2021 4:57 PM

r69 probably to house them. Many Member of Congress are doing circle jerks to get a shot of them meeting the Guardsmen. I hate how many people were roaming around taking videos and pictures of these people while they sleep. Talk about treating them like props or zoo animals.

One reporter spoke to one of them who was 18 or 19. From PA or something. He said he had never been to the Capital and wondered if they'd open up a gift shop. They said most people his age are visiting with school groups while this country kid is sleeping there with a gun and riot gear. It's sort of sweet.

Imagine how active Grindr must be in that place!!! I doubt any action is happening but must be fun to check it out.
