Where the fuck is my $600

This is really pissing me off. The IRS sent some $$ out and then fucked it all up, but they swear everything's back on track.

by Anonymousreply 141March 15, 2021 6:56 AM

My check didn’t arrive again today and the “Get My Payment” page locked me out for the wrong address format.

by Anonymousreply 1January 13, 2021 3:42 AM

Gurl...the only people I know who haven't gotten it are the scamionna type stunt queens who don't keep a bank account longer than six months. Is that you OP?

by Anonymousreply 2January 13, 2021 3:51 AM

You ain’t getting [italic]shit[/italic], bitch.

by Anonymousreply 3January 13, 2021 3:54 AM

Shut the fuck up and be glad you qualify. Some of us actually went to school, got professional degrees and earn too much money to qualify for handouts, OP.

by Anonymousreply 4January 13, 2021 4:02 AM

If the check ain’t cut by the 15th, it goes with return

by Anonymousreply 5January 13, 2021 4:04 AM

ooh r4 are we bitter???

by Anonymousreply 6January 13, 2021 4:19 AM

LMFAO R6. Bitter over $600????

I earn that much 5 minutes into my day.

by Anonymousreply 7January 13, 2021 4:21 AM

Mine says it was mailed on the 6th, but nada.

R7, I hope you're trolling. If not, you are loathsome. I don't care if you're homeless or a millionaire. I honestly wouldn't want to be around you for even five minutes. Bye.

by Anonymousreply 8January 13, 2021 4:29 AM

Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 9January 13, 2021 4:38 AM

R8, same for me — I was given the Jan. 6 date, but haven’t received a check.

by Anonymousreply 10January 13, 2021 7:52 AM

Me too . . . it says Jan 6th. Glad to see I'm not alone. I think we must've been in the batch that got, uh, "misrouted." My BF got his dd December 31st, and his folks in AL got theirs already. And no fair making fun of people who need the $600. I live check to check and brakes for the car, dental work, and red light cameras wait for no one.

by Anonymousreply 11January 13, 2021 9:33 AM

The site told my mother it was confirmed and processed, etc. That was on the 6th, no check yet (she's getting it mailed).

by Anonymousreply 12January 13, 2021 9:38 AM

IRS site said it was mailed Jan 6, now Jan 13 and I still don't have it.

by Anonymousreply 13January 13, 2021 10:28 AM

I am on Social Security so I have a check deposited in my bank account monthly yet the IRS sends me these payments by check, which is more expensive for the government to do than to do a direct deposit. I just don't understand it.

by Anonymousreply 14January 13, 2021 10:31 AM

Got mine last week it was direct deposited into my checking account.

by Anonymousreply 15January 13, 2021 10:33 AM

Finally received mine today, eight days after they claim they mailed it, great job Post Office.

by Anonymousreply 16January 14, 2021 4:25 PM

"Got it, didn't spend it" should be an option. Deposited into my checking account.

by Anonymousreply 17January 14, 2021 7:02 PM
LMFAO [R6]. Bitter over $600???? I earn that much 5 minutes into my day.
—Oncologist

Wow. Who would think an eye doctor makes that much money?

by Anonymousreply 18January 14, 2021 7:22 PM

Sorry, OP, I just found it. Apparently it fell between the seats of my truck.

Whoops. My bad.

by Anonymousreply 19January 14, 2021 7:23 PM

R14, the government is trying to kill you!

They want you to walk into a bank amid a big COVID cloud, catch it and die.

Big Brother, indeed.

by Anonymousreply 20January 14, 2021 7:24 PM

Not only didn’t I get it, there’s no way to know if I’m going to get it because the tool to check is not working

by Anonymousreply 21January 14, 2021 7:27 PM

Then WTF is r4 / r7 complaining about?

YOU DON’T NEED THE MONEY and you’re going to LOSE MONEY if your patients can’t afford to see you anymore, just like my dentist did.

by Anonymousreply 22January 14, 2021 10:35 PM

My check supposedly mailed Jan. 6 still hasn’t arrived 7 days later.

I don’t understand why they had no problem direct-depositing the April stimulus, but now I have to wait and I’m not able to buy all the prescriptions and groceries I need.

by Anonymousreply 23January 14, 2021 10:40 PM

Never got mine. Maybe I don't qualify. Whatever.

by Anonymousreply 24January 14, 2021 10:42 PM

I didn’t qualify either.

by Anonymousreply 25January 14, 2021 11:10 PM

Today was the 8th day since allegedly mailing my check and it still hasn’t arrived.

And that “Informed Delivery” tracker on the USPS site doesn’t do dick. It always shows I have no mail, even on days I get mail!!!

by Anonymousreply 26January 15, 2021 2:57 AM

Today was the 9th day since the IRS Get My Payment tracker said, "We scheduled your payment to be mailed on January 6, 2021 to the address we have on file for you."

Still no check in the mail. Although the USPS's "Informed Delivery" feature is now taking scanned pictures of my mail, they post them the same day that mail arrives in my box. Big help..

IRS.gov says,
Mail. Some people will receive their second Economic Impact Payment by mail, either as a paper check or in the form of a debit card. For people in this group, the IRS urges people to carefully watch their mail for either of these during January. Additional information is available on IRS.gov.

So, maybe "scheduling" to be mailed on Jan. 6 is different than being mailed on Jan. 6 and I might be waiting a month.

by Anonymousreply 27January 16, 2021 12:47 AM

This article says today was the last day the IRS can mail checks and I may have to wait until "the end of next week" to know if there is an error at the IRS.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 28January 16, 2021 12:59 AM

Apparently the checks were mailed on Jan 6, but I haven’t gotten mine yet either. They could wait and send the whole $2000 next month.

by Anonymousreply 29January 16, 2021 1:16 AM

Add me to the "We scheduled your payment to be mailed on January 6, 2021 to the address we have on file for you." boat.

I don't know why they mailed it, unless they are counting on how fucked up the postal system currently is to take advantage of the "float". My first one came via direct deposit, and I haven't changed banks since.

Oh, and to our oncologist "friend". May you never need one. If you do, I hope you get one who isn't the massive flaming cunt you are so proud to be.

by Anonymousreply 32January 18, 2021 12:05 AM

Still waiting and so is my mom.

It’s been 11 days since the 6th.

by Anonymousreply 33January 18, 2021 2:02 AM

Finally came through today.

by Anonymousreply 34January 19, 2021 4:47 PM

Husband and I moved (away from Texas, forever, yay!) last year. Our first stimulus payment (when we still lived in Texas) was direct-deposited into our credit union. We didn't close the credit union account when we moved. For some reason, the second stimulus was sent as a debit card (!) even though the first was direct-deposited. Of course, it was mailed to our Texas address two weeks ago. Will it be forwarded? Unsure. I read that to activate the card, you need to know my SSN, so there's that. And we can deduct it from our taxes if it's not received.

by Anonymousreply 35January 19, 2021 5:07 PM

Weren't the stimulus checks supposed to be tax free?

by Anonymousreply 36January 19, 2021 5:11 PM

^^^ I think they are. The point from the IRS is that if you are eligible for a second stimulus check and didn't receive it, you can effectively "receive it" by a dollar-for-dollar deduction on your upcoming tax return. If you don't owe taxes, it will be added to your tax refund.

by Anonymousreply 37January 19, 2021 5:34 PM

Where's my $2000, Uncle Joe?!

by Anonymousreply 38January 19, 2021 6:10 PM

Another one with a Jan 6 mailing date, but still no $600.

by Anonymousreply 39January 19, 2021 6:29 PM

Got mine. Bought booze.

by Anonymousreply 40January 19, 2021 6:50 PM

Day 13 without a stimulus check "scheduled to be mailed Jan. 6."

by Anonymousreply 41January 19, 2021 8:09 PM

I posted about this a few days ago - mine came as a debit card. I almost tossed it, thinking it was a fake credit card scheme. It had Dept. of the Treasury on it - and it's legit. Unbelievable the gov gave ZERO warning it was coming that way.

by Anonymousreply 42January 19, 2021 9:32 PM

They say they're going to send a letter besides the checks or debit cards.I'm sure it will have Trump's fat signature flamboyantly taking credit for it.

But I haven't seen anything yet.

by Anonymousreply 43January 19, 2021 9:44 PM

I’m starting to think my check (mailed 1/6) isn’t coming.

by Anonymousreply 44January 19, 2021 9:45 PM

There was no letter with my check but I don't care. His signature looks like the electrocardiogram of a person having a massive heart attack.

by Anonymousreply 45January 19, 2021 9:48 PM

OP, if your Tax Returns were filed electronically, the money would've been in your bank through Direct Deposit.

by Anonymousreply 46January 19, 2021 10:00 PM
I’m starting to think my check (mailed 1/6) isn’t coming.

A friend got her debit card in the mail just today.

by Anonymousreply 47January 19, 2021 10:02 PM

me and hubby filed jointly so we got $27 dollar and change together of the $600.

by Anonymousreply 48January 19, 2021 10:03 PM

The only people who don't have Direct Deposit are folks who don't trust banks. Pay all bills by money order because they think Uncle Sam will know too much about them. Guess what, dummies, he's knows everything already.

by Anonymousreply 49January 19, 2021 10:06 PM

My bf just got his today in the mail.

by Anonymousreply 50January 19, 2021 10:19 PM

Mine arrived as a debit card too, and I was just about to toss it in the trash thinking it was a scam, but I took a screenshot of the envelope and it was from the U.S. Treasury, so apparently there's no rhyme or reason as to how you will get these.

by Anonymousreply 51January 19, 2021 10:44 PM
The only people who don't have Direct Deposit are folks who don't trust banks. Pay all bills by money order because they think Uncle Sam will know too much about them. Guess what, dummies, he's knows everything already.

There are many reasons besides the few simplistic examples you cite why someone might not be connected to the IRS via ACH.

Also, “direct deposit” is not a proper noun, dummy.

by Anonymousreply 52January 19, 2021 11:31 PM
I took a screenshot of the envelope and it was from the U.S. Treasury

How could you tell from a ... screen shot?

by Anonymousreply 53January 19, 2021 11:35 PM

I have given up hope. Got the $1200 quickly on direct deposit last year but nothing this year. Did the qualifications change that much? Nothing has changed in terms of my income or tax status.

by Anonymousreply 54January 19, 2021 11:42 PM

I got the 1200 and the 600. Hoping for the 1400 soon. Then some.

by Anonymousreply 55January 19, 2021 11:51 PM

I last paid the IRS electronically but they sent me stimulus checks.

by Anonymousreply 56January 19, 2021 11:55 PM

Not true, r46.

I've filed my returns electronically for over10 years now and I got the April stimulus by direct-deposit. But not this time and the IRS website says I'm getting my new one in the mail.

by Anonymousreply 57January 20, 2021 1:47 PM

I finally received my $600 check.

by Anonymousreply 58January 20, 2021 2:17 PM

My check arrived yesterday, but it's for $595.35!!! Why are they fucking with me???

by Anonymousreply 59January 20, 2021 3:32 PM

$100 for a special 8 ball, $100.00 for some 1mg Xanax, two bottles of Jovan Sex Appeal cologne (weird rotgut shit but it smells really good on me) $27.51 for a tool to unhook a pipe underneath my bathroom sink in the hope of finding a diamond earring I paid 1K for in 2005.

They fuckin sent me one of those credit cards. I swear I was on the point of throwing it away until I opened it.

by Anonymousreply 60January 20, 2021 3:36 PM

Still waiting for mine, too. Supposedly mailed on 1/6.

by Anonymousreply 61January 22, 2021 3:41 AM

At first I thought I didn't get mine, but I checked and it was direct deposited into my account a couple weeks ago.

by Anonymousreply 62January 22, 2021 3:44 AM

Funny enough I got mine today in the form of a credit card.

I've already transferred the funds to my checking account; should take a few days, max.

It's going to my new refrigerator, which I just love! Food stays colder, fresher, longer...I'm saving money already!

What I didn't get was the first stimulus. :(

by Anonymousreply 63January 22, 2021 3:47 AM

What's happening at R60 's house?

by Anonymousreply 64January 22, 2021 3:54 AM

I got the credit card too, no check. WTF? can I pay off my visa with it, directly? I have to figure this out now.

by Anonymousreply 65January 22, 2021 3:57 AM

R60, you sound like a fascinating character.
The only people who don't have Direct Deposit are folks who don't trust banks. Pay all bills by money order because they think Uncle Sam will know too much about them.

Nope, I am self employed so I don't have an employer to direct deposit into my account. I prefer paper checks because I have several accounts and I don't want a refund going into my personal account which I might have made a payment from.

by Anonymousreply 67January 22, 2021 4:17 AM

I got my Jan. 6 scheduled check today — $327.00

by Anonymousreply 68January 22, 2021 4:23 AM

Still waiting; so are my extended family members.

That article said if I don’t receive it this week, there was probably an error and I’m fucked until the summer.

by Anonymousreply 69January 22, 2021 4:36 AM

My $600 check arrived today. Supposedly was sent out 1/6. Glad to get it finally!

by Anonymousreply 70January 22, 2021 7:25 PM

R70 You made in look in the mailbox and be disappointed... again! ;D

by Anonymousreply 71January 23, 2021 12:08 AM

This was random. People did or did not get payments, willy-nilly. One neighbor who got a check last time got a card this time. Another who had a direct deposit first time got a check the second time. I did not get a second payment - the IRS website says 'status unknown.' Guess I have to wait until Feb to file my taxes.

by Anonymousreply 72January 23, 2021 4:26 AM

Still nothing. Another victim of 1/6. I agree with r72. It is indeed willy fucking nilly. Question for tax-savvy queens: if mine doesn't show up by the time we have to file our taxes, how do I-- not sure of the term--claim it/demand it on my return? Will there be a line item? R72 "Status unknown" must feel rather disturbing, though at least it makes it sound like the problem is on their side. I'm worried I will have to make a lot of noise as I actually have a mailing date where they can say "you must have tossed it / lost it / fucked up you massive loser like you do with everything else in your life."

Also, I understand there was supposed to be a letter sent as well. I don't know if it is an separate letter, or one that came with the payment. I had the vibe it was separate, so another question, has anyone received this letter, but not the payment, vice versa, or both?

by Anonymousreply 73January 23, 2021 5:50 AM

I got mine about a week ago. I just deposited it yesterday. I'm so use to DD that it was annoying having to go the machine.

by Anonymousreply 74January 23, 2021 5:53 AM

My $600 was direct deposited to my checking account on January 4. That may be because I recently electronically paid estimated tax.

If you do not receive your stimulus payment, you can claim it as a Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 Form 1040.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 75January 23, 2021 6:31 AM

Many thanks r75!

It's almost like they planned for some of these payments to go "missing"

by Anonymousreply 76January 23, 2021 6:37 AM

I just got a check - no letter. It was in a check sized envelope so it would be easy to overlook but it did say US Treasury on the return address.

by Anonymousreply 77January 23, 2021 1:04 PM

Still haven't received my check or debit card "scheduled to be mailed Jan. 6."

The I.R.S. says you cannot request a payment trace until February 24! So they know damn well lots of people are getting their checks 2 MONTHS after others.

I don't understand why they couldn't Direct Deposit everyone and get the stimulus to everyone at the same time, like they did in April?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 78January 23, 2021 10:02 PM

The I.R.S. is saying claiming the $600 on your 2020 taxes is THE ONLY WAY to get your stimulus if there was a mistake on their end, r73!

And they're saying you cannot file / start a payment trace until February 24.

by Anonymousreply 79January 23, 2021 10:06 PM

Several sources say the problem is with returns that were electronically transmitted via Turbo Tax or H.R. Block -- but I mailed my taxes in and I'm not getting a payment, even though I got the first one just fine. I just have to remember to claim it when I do this year's taxes.

by Anonymousreply 80January 24, 2021 4:10 PM

Informed Delivery shows my "Economic Impact Card" arriving today. THANK FUCKING GOD, I've been hurting since Christmas.

I was "scheduled to be mailed Jan. 6."

Now, how do I transfer the debit card money to my checking account? Venmo? Wells Fargo Zelle?

by Anonymousreply 81January 25, 2021 6:17 PM

"Card by Metabank N.A."

by Anonymousreply 82January 25, 2021 6:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 84January 25, 2021 6:35 PM

Mine came today. A check. The last one was direct deposited.

by Anonymousreply 85January 26, 2021 12:21 AM

The envelopes containing the debit cards are nondescript because if they put too much information on them people would be stealing them out of mailboxes right and left.

by Anonymousreply 86January 26, 2021 12:27 AM

I finally got mine today Jan. 25 although it was supposedly mailed on Jan. 6.

by Anonymousreply 87January 26, 2021 12:28 AM

Got a debit card today. And yeah, I assumed it was junk Mail and almost threw it out before opening it.

by Anonymousreply 88January 26, 2021 12:31 AM

I can guarantee you those debit cards are mailed at bulk rate. The 1/6 mailing date is the date they put your envelope in the batch and there it sat until they had a certain number of mailers. That obviously took over 2 weeks.

by Anonymousreply 89January 26, 2021 12:36 AM

Got the generic looking debit card today as well. Will never know why they didn't just direct deposit the amount like the last time. Do people go around with a $600 debit card to shop for grocery?

by Anonymousreply 90January 26, 2021 5:42 AM

Mine was reportedly mailed on 1/6/21...and arrived 1/25/21. And it was a credit card, so vIsa and all points ATMs get their cut. I am making one stop tomorrow and taking it all out in cash.

by Anonymousreply 91January 26, 2021 9:09 AM

Sounds like a shit-ton of us got our cards today.

by Anonymousreply 92January 26, 2021 9:31 AM

The IRS probably saves million by using bulk rate mailing. As usual though, they fuck up by notifying people of a mailing date that is not valid when all they have to do is say the cards are to be mailed soon and people should be on the lookout for them in their mail boxes.

But we pay our government workers to do nothing more than they are programmed to do. I'm sure no one involved thought "we're telling people their cards and/or checks are being mailed on a certain date when we know full well they won't be mailed for weeks afterward, and we're causing these people undue stress when their card or check does not arrive when they expect them to, so maybe we should change what we're telling them so they won't sit there worried". That's just too much for their pre-programmed brains to consider I guess. It's not part of their pay grade.

by Anonymousreply 95January 26, 2021 11:07 AM

R95 you just revealed your income in 2019 $86,770~$86,780

by Anonymousreply 96January 26, 2021 11:32 AM

That's not my income, R96.

by Anonymousreply 97January 26, 2021 11:57 AM

According to my mail lady, the checks were recalled and will be re-sent this week.

by Anonymousreply 98January 26, 2021 4:12 PM

They may have withheld back taxes that you owe.

by Anonymousreply 99January 26, 2021 11:02 PM

"Saves millions?"

Isn't manufacturing millions of debit cards with our names on it or even printing checks plus snail-mailing MUCH costlier and time-consuming than direct deposit for everyone who can?

I don't get why the government does it this way.

by Anonymousreply 100January 26, 2021 11:04 PM

My check arrived yesterday! (Suburbs of DC)

by Anonymousreply 101January 26, 2021 11:09 PM

Except for the people who I guess don't have bank accounts, why the fuck are they sending out debit cards ? I got my first shitty payment via direct deposit. I have not changed anything since, but now I'm either (not getting) a check or (not getting) a...debit card?

by Anonymousreply 102January 26, 2021 11:20 PM

They're not doing debit cards again, are they? My parents got one last time. First my mom accidentally threw it away because she thought it was junk mail. They were pissed that they couldn't deposit it in the bank.

by Anonymousreply 103January 27, 2021 2:20 AM

I am one of those who had the first payment direct-deposited but the second one allegedly mailed.

I double-checked today, and the website says my payment was "scheduled to be mailed on January 6, 2021."

WTF does "scheduled to be mailed" mean? Something different from "actually mailed," apparently. I have nothing yet.

by Anonymousreply 104January 27, 2021 4:26 AM

My. Heck was also “scheduled to be mailed” on 1/6. I got it yesterday.

by Anonymousreply 105January 27, 2021 4:39 AM

Mine was mailed out on the 6th according to the website, got it today in the form of a debit card. Which is odd because last time they sent a paper check.

by Anonymousreply 106January 27, 2021 5:02 AM

My check arrived on Tuesday, (Baltimore, MD)

by Anonymousreply 107January 28, 2021 3:55 PM

finally got it today, it's still a check for me.

by Anonymousreply 113January 30, 2021 6:53 AM

OT but does anyone know who does not qualify for Biden's $1400.00 stiiimulus because I had zero income in 2019/20. Is Biden aware that the $2000.00 stimulus was a campaign promise he made to people who may vote for him? Now, he agrees to a watered down version of $1400.00. If he promised voters to have $2000.00 and caves into Republicans, he's looks like an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 114January 30, 2021 7:15 AM

You know Trump and Mnuchin did the debit cards because their buddies at VISA and the banks with the out of network ATMS will be collecting a ton of fees.

by Anonymousreply 115January 30, 2021 7:30 AM

r114, Biden was referring to $2,000 TOTAL this season.

Biden and Trump together were fighting Mitch McConnell at the time, whose Republican caucus in the Senate would only approve the $600. Biden promised to send the remaining $1,400 this season if he got a Democratic Senate, which he did.

I believe the Democrats are planning more stimulus for the Spring/Summer, too.

by Anonymousreply 116January 30, 2021 7:50 AM
Biden was referring to $2,000 TOTAL this season.

No, he wasn’t. That was backtracking.

by Anonymousreply 117January 30, 2021 9:31 AM

R117, you're wrong...and can't add.

by Anonymousreply 118January 30, 2021 11:55 AM

Got it with yesterday’s mail. First-class “presort” postage, “scheduled to be mailed” on January 6. A check this time, direct deposit last time.

by Anonymousreply 119January 30, 2021 2:26 PM

God this is depressing. Well the good news is I finally got my January 6th payment today (I'm in California) via debit card. I got a modest raise between the last stimulus and this one. It amounted to an extra 4k a year. Last stimulus I got the full $600. This one...$102.75. What the fuck? Is this a fucking mistake? I figured MAYBE $300. This is a joke. I hate everyone right now. Mostly myself as per fucking usual. Yes I am extremely grateful to have a job where I get to work from home, but that raise has put me into a tax bracket where for the first time I OWE taxes and now this sweet little slap in the face. I'm beyond plucked.

As others have noted here, it really does look like junk mail, thanks for the heads up because I easily could have tossed it.

Good luck to those still waiting.

by Anonymousreply 120February 1, 2021 2:16 AM

You got a 4K raise, you're working from home, you got free money, and you're still fucking complaining, R120? Go fuck yourself.

Bernie Sanders Says Democrats Can’t Break Stimulus Check Promises

Georgia Democrats have reportedly already begun fuming over their two new senators, the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, who were sworn in Wednesday by Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a new report.

"Warnock and Ossoff made it a point to endorse and exclusively say ‘$2,000 checks,’" Georgia Democrat Oscar Zaro told Mediaite. "A lot of the people in my district voted blue in the runoff for two main reasons. One: Loeffler and Perdue denying us relief during COVID while profiting millions themselves; and two, $2,000 checks."

Leading into the Jan. 5 runoff elections were a series of campaign events espousing the $2,000 stimulus check proposal in the days after former President Trump signed a $600-check plan in late December.

"If you send Jon and the reverend to Washington, those $2,000 checks will go out the door, restoring hope and decency for so many people who are struggling right now," Biden said at a rally for both candidates on Jan. 4.

Rogelio Linares, a Democratic canvasser during the runoff elections, told Mediaite that he feels "like s---" over the issue and called it "a betrayal of the working class.

"I was lying to people that were relying on this," he said. "At the time I didn’t know it was a lie. But that was not the reality."

Fuck you too r121. 4k over a year AFTER taxes in my case puts me in a fucked up bracket. I'm taking home about $125 more a month which just barely covers the monthly rent increase for this dump that I paid in 2020, and on top of that I'm paying more taxes. 4k might sound fancy pants, but between the higher bracket, the cost of living in this state that I'm trying like hell to get out of, and the insane rents where I am, it isn't a pretty situation. I made it clear I'm grateful for what I do have, so again, fuck you.

Back to the stimulus... Apparently, after doing a bit of digging with this stimulus calculator , I really should have gotten around $300 and I didn't. Apparently this is a known issue (underpayment) why am I not surprised? Their fuck-up, not mine. I don't have any savings to speak of and right now everything in general is pretty fucking scary, so this on top of all of the other hell has me on my last nerve.

So, whiny and bad at math.

by Anonymousreply 125February 1, 2021 5:31 AM

Settle down R124. Let the fucker vent. We are all riled up these days. Understandably.

My sister also got underpaid. Crazily so. She should have qualified for the full 600 easily, but got some random amount like 200 and change. She's pissed too, even though she's not exactly starving. She's trying to get it worked out, but who knows how long that's going to take?

If Biden doesn't make his campaign promise good--as it unfortunately is starting to look like--shit is going to get ugly, well, uglier really. The longer Covid drags out, and it looks like that's going to be a lot longer than hoped, the harder it is going to be on people who are not barely above or at poverty level, but also those folks who are lower-middle to middle class. I'm lucky enough to have means from investments and an inheritance that I can get by without concern, but I understand that I am far, far luckier than I even knew before all of this went down.

I've seen what other countries have paid to their citizens during this ordeal and we should be absolutely ashamed at what our country has failed to do to take care of our own. Everything from proper, livable compensation, rent and or mortgage payment deferments, to providing free, quality masks/PPE. Don't get me started on the cost of medical care. Really, we have done next to nothing. We can't even roll out vaccines to people in a timely manner. It's reprehensible.

by Anonymousreply 126February 1, 2021 5:41 AM

r126 If you do not receive all or part of your stimulus payment, you do not "work it out". You claim it as a Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 Form 1040.

Thanks r127. I wonder how it works if you were underpaid? How do you calculate then claim the remainder? Not paid at all I could see as easy. I will certainly let her know about this and let her figure it out.

Thanks again!

just a reminder, if you still have not received the check/deposit/debit card, now you can file a check trace with IRS

by Anonymousreply 130February 8, 2021 7:11 PM

R130 John Wayne has been cancelled for being a racist pig.

by Anonymousreply 131February 9, 2021 2:44 AM

R119

Wait until they report you to your bank and your employer, then you get fired, and the bank cancels your credit card and closes your account, and Google prominently features your extreme racism as soon as potential employers search for you.

The USSR used the same method. Official photographs were retouched to remove any former communist party member who had said something that broke with the official narrative.

by Anonymousreply 132February 9, 2021 3:31 AM

Okay...

I was posting on the “cancel culture” thread and it just disappeared. Or I can’t find it!

by Anonymousreply 133February 9, 2021 3:33 AM

do you need to have an account with IRS website to show up on the "my payment" inquiry? I entered it many times but always got "no record etc"

i was helping my friend with his stimulus checks. He usually files via paper and gets checks in the mail. He got the first stimulus check but didn't get anything for the 2nd one.

Now, I understand you can claim it in 2020 tax return. Does he wait to see if he gets the 3rd check? or can the 3rd check be claimed in the return as well?

by Anonymousreply 134March 15, 2021 4:00 AM

r134 The Get My Payment web page is now only for the 2021 $1,400 payment. To see your 2020 payments, you have to set up an IRS account.
The first and second Economic Impact Payments no longer appear in Get My Payment. For information on these payments, view or create your online account and check your mail for IRS Notices 1444 and 1444-B.

If you are getting a "no record" error message, you must be entering your address incorrectly. I just used Get My Payment and my 2021 payment is scheduled to be deposited in my bank account on 17 March.

r136, thank you so much for the information!

by Anonymousreply 137March 15, 2021 5:58 AM

It says in one of the irs faq sections that the get my payment asks security questions to identify me. Are they talking about my SS#, bday and address?

by Anonymousreply 138March 15, 2021 6:23 AM

R138, yes. You are only a few tries a day. I tried putting my address in different ways but no luck. I always run out of tries.

by Anonymousreply 139March 15, 2021 6:36 AM

I still haven't gotten my second $600 stimulus check (probably don't qualify for this year's one), I keep getting error messages and "not found" messages on the IRS website, and I think I know why: they still haven't processed my 2019 tax return!

I live overseas and file a paper return, which has always worked fine, if slowly, before. This year with COVID, I think they just dumped all the paper returns they got in a warehouse (or a garbage bin) somewhere. I even called, at great expense, to talk to someone on the phone in person in November or December, and they said they couldn't find a record of my return. So I resubmitted it (even though they tell you not to do so, but what else can you do?), and I still don't have any information on the processing.

Why the hell doesn't the IRS give you any way to e-mail or use online chat? It's such a bitch when you're in a different time zone.

by Anonymousreply 140March 15, 2021 6:49 AM

r140, my friend filed a paper return too, sending it via certified with return receipt. The deadline was July 15 last year so he didn't send it until the last day and he did get the check but it was in oct. And he received the check before he got the green return receipt! it should have been the other way round.

IRS was very messed up last year. As mentioned above, my friend didn't get the 2nd check either.
