Writer’s Block

How do you overcome it? What gets you warmed up and on a roll?

by Anonymousreply 2January 12, 2021 12:12 AM

I had this teacher in college who made us do this exercise where we had to start writing when he said "Go" and to do so for 15 minutes. It didn't matter how good or how crappy the writing was -- we would get credit all the same. If I do say so myself, a lot of what I wrote wasn't crappy at all. I know that it's harder to motivate yourself when there's no teacher ordering you, but if you can make yourself just do it and not worry about the quality at all, you might come up with some good stuff.

R1 Stream of consciousness writing has worked for me in the past. It’s sort of like doing a warmup routine. Thanks for the reminder!
