Watching on YouTube (and how is that legal?) and thinking Jane Fonda has the most distinctive voice in pictures.
They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?

Hardly.

I've always loved this movie but (forgive me) Jane Fonda is the weak link. She's looks perfect but I'll credit that to Hair, Makeup and Wardrobe.

I consider it to be Sydney Pollack's best film.

Jane's always had good diction.

Hidden Valley Ranch.

I saw that film when I was far too young for the experience. Really messed with me. It is far too honest about life.

I fell in love with Michael Sarrazin, seeing him in this film when it premiered. Is there a gay man here who didn't in 1969?
Incredible unforgettable ensemble including Gig Young, Susannah York, Red Buttons, Bruce Dern , Bonnie Bedelia and Allyn Ann McLerie.

^ His eyes...so haunted. So hot.

Sarrazin is the weak link, as he was in all his movies. A terrible actor and a face for radio.

Jane has a really striking voice. Clear and confident.

Why didn't she just get on a bus or train and leave Hollywood?

The more bedraggled Jane gets here, the more she looks like Kristen Stewart.

If there is one thing wrong with the performance, it is the vestige of a Vassar accent

I beg to differ.

R11 I had the same feeling watching Fran Lebowitz whining about New York City (again) in the Netfix series Pretend it's a City. Some people are just masochists and/or love to hear themselves complain.

I posted this before, but one critic, who liked Fonda's performance, said she sounds like she should be at a debutante's ball not a dance marathon.

Jane Fonda was superb. She’s the finest actress of her generation.

I did think she was wonderful in it, even though she still was learning. She was lucky enough to have the films and roles to really develop her craft even when giving very good performances.

R7 And don't forget Al "Grandpa" Lewis of The Munsters. I don't think he says a word in the film but he adds to the atmosphere.
