Anyone watch Pelosi’s interview on 60 minutes tonight?

I apologize if there is already a thread, I couldn’t find one.

Leslie Stahl needs to lose her fucking job, I have never been so fucking pissed after watching an interview.

Both sides bullshit and personal attacks. Fire her now!!

Did you notice Leslie Stahl's pink eye?

by Anonymousreply 1January 11, 2021 1:47 AM

Watching Stahl berate Pelosi at this particular moment was utterly repellent.

by Anonymousreply 2January 11, 2021 1:47 AM

Thought the other segment was more compelling regarding the GA SOS call. Given 60 Min high viewership, both will help impeachment inertia

I've heard a lot of orgasmic musings about her "LAPTOP" and how frightened she is of its contents being revealed.

by Anonymousreply 7January 11, 2021 1:51 AM

Leslie was an uber-bitch to Nancy. Unforgivable. Fucking Republican cunt. 60 Minutes has really really gone down the shitter, their track record, particularly with FEMALE journalists, is horrendous.

by Anonymousreply 8January 11, 2021 1:51 AM

Stahl looks like the crypt keeper. Scary

by Anonymousreply 9January 11, 2021 1:51 AM

R4, Miss Stahl is 79. Seriously, what a lying twat.

by Anonymousreply 10January 11, 2021 1:51 AM

Leslie Stahl at 79 year old asking Pelosi about being 80 was something.

by Anonymousreply 11January 11, 2021 1:51 AM

Leslie Stahl is 79 years old so she can go fuck herself.

by Anonymousreply 12January 11, 2021 1:51 AM

All she has on that laptop is porn and she knows it!

by Anonymousreply 13January 11, 2021 1:52 AM

Stahl will turn 80 later this year.

by Anonymousreply 14January 11, 2021 1:53 AM

Calling Pelosi obstructionist is a lie and Republican propaganda.

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2021 1:53 AM

I once saw Leslie Stahl walking in NYC. He hair was so shellacked, it didn’t move at all.

I could tell something was off about her, but it took me a while to realize it was her robot hair

by Anonymousreply 16January 11, 2021 1:53 AM

McConnell is the obstructionist

by Anonymousreply 17January 11, 2021 1:54 AM

Stahl looks her age. Nancy doesn't look a day over 45.

by Anonymousreply 18January 11, 2021 1:55 AM

I saw Pelosi when she had just gotten a facelift—maybe 10 years ago or so. It was really tight. Looks like the face has relaxed and she looks good for her age

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2021 1:55 AM

I didn't watch excuse me but what could Stahl possibly try to put on Nancy oe the Dems?

by Anonymousreply 20January 11, 2021 1:55 AM

Stahl had all these questions about the COVID relief bill ready weeks ago and wasn't going to be bothered to work up a second set of questions about some piddly little thing like a coup.

by Anonymousreply 21January 11, 2021 1:56 AM

She said that NANCY was an obstructionist, that Nancy prevented any COVID relief from getting to the people because she was so intent on obstructing.

by Anonymousreply 22January 11, 2021 1:57 AM

Thanks, op. Now I know not to subject myself to watching it. I’m intuiting a ‘blaming the victim’ jerk - literally and figuratively - move, right?

by Anonymousreply 23January 11, 2021 1:59 AM

She blamed Pelosi for no Covid relief, derided her about her age and then accused her of not giving AOC a chance.

It was delightful.

by Anonymousreply 24January 11, 2021 2:01 AM

R24 I’m a big AOC supporter but four days after, as Chris Hayes put it. “the most consequential attack on the seat of US government since 1812.”

by Anonymousreply 25January 11, 2021 2:05 AM

I've been yelled at several times over the years on here for saying that the media is largely responsible for the trouble we've found ourselves in, but it's true.

Trump just incited a coup, possibly even helped plan it himself, and 60 Minutes -- one of our most respected and longest-running news sources -- wants to excoriate a Democrat for delays on a COVID relief bill that weren't her or the party's fault. They launched ad hominem attacks on her about how she never compromised and was old and mean to young people.

THAT is huge reason why we're in the mess we're in. 60 Minutes had a duty to report on the coup. The fucking COUP. The impending impeachment and the 25th Amendment. They didn't want to and basically refused, wanting to report on other things instead.

And here we are.

by Anonymousreply 26January 11, 2021 2:07 AM

segment:

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 27January 11, 2021 2:10 AM

Yeah, that was pretty infuriating. Good for Nancy for keeping her cool in the face of such BS.

by Anonymousreply 28January 11, 2021 2:21 AM

I could be wrong but I thought the problem that held up the covid relief bill was that Republicans wanted this huge almost a trillion dollar slush fund that Trump could dole out to whoever he wanted and no way was Pelosi going to agree to that. Republicans were holding out for that so that Trump could use that money to help buy the election, they were willing to give the $600 dollar to each American and but no money to help the states with covid as long as Trump got his slush fund.

by Anonymousreply 29January 11, 2021 2:43 AM

Had to pause - I’m about 5 minutes in - to say that I think it is an excellent segment so far, clearly spelling out the weight, severity, and danger of the attack.

Also, I’ve never seen Pelosi tear up.

by Anonymousreply 30January 11, 2021 3:00 AM

The sound of that terrorist sing-yelling her name from the crowd, “Hey, [italic]Nancy[/italic]...

:shiver:

by Anonymousreply 31January 11, 2021 3:04 AM

She handled Stahl with no problem. No idea why anyone would find this interview tough.

by Anonymousreply 32January 11, 2021 3:16 AM

Of course Nancy can handle Stahl. She's been fearless towards Trump, while Pence, Graham, Mitch, and Cruz buckled in fear of him.

by Anonymousreply 33January 11, 2021 3:25 AM

I have criticized Pelosi in the past and let’s just say I haven’t like her much. I watched the interview. I liked her. A lot.

Stahl was critical but it wasn’t anything over the top and perhaps it was necessary to challenge Pelosi, to give her an opportunity to display her strength so as not to be accused of acting like a martyr.

I initially, as I posted upthread, was not going to watch this segment. I am glad that I did. It was excellent.

by Anonymousreply 34January 11, 2021 3:29 AM

I really like Pelosi and I think the criticsm she gets from the more left-wing dems is ridiculous. She plays chess while they attempt to play checkers. Nancy wins!

Very interesting shading of AOC. When asked why AOC has accused Nancy of not lifting up younger House members, Nancy told Stahl, I don't know, you'll have to ask her. Then she added that lots of younger people have been taking on big roles, but they're not as frequently covered by the press.

by Anonymousreply 37January 11, 2021 3:41 AM

R32, thanks. I thought the same thing.

Yes, there were tough questions towards the end, but I found the interview to be fine. Most of it was about the attempted coup.

I thought Nancy did great.

Lesley may have leaned into being tough, but she probably didn't want to come off too soft.

by Anonymousreply 38January 11, 2021 3:43 AM

Tomorrow Tucker Carlson will have a coronary shrieking about Nancy's refrigerator full of ice cream. Again.

by Anonymousreply 39January 11, 2021 3:43 AM
Then she added that lots of younger people have been taking on big roles, but they're not as frequently covered by the press.

She didn’t quite phrase it like that but yeah. I think she was just getting a little impatient with Stahl’s needling - especially at a time like this - but she kept her cool.

by Anonymousreply 40January 11, 2021 3:44 AM

Nancy Pelosi and Leslie Stahl have a longer history than this interview.

This is her first interview of Nancy in 2006, before she became Speaker of the House.

I liked the interview. The Speaker can handle Lesley Stahl. I loved her response about bringing younger leadership into the caucus and the way she shut her up about AOC and how they are bringing in younger democrats, but the press just isn't paying any attention to them. I respect the fuck out of Nancy Pelosi.

And maybe it's because I am dancing real close to 50, I don't think that "younger" leadership is necessarily better leadership. I think you need youthful ideas and youthful enthusiasm to chart the course, but you can't burn everything down and replace it with a bunch of young people, just because they're young. There is something to be said for life experience informing policy.

by Anonymousreply 45January 11, 2021 4:44 AM

R45 you say what I hadn't articulated in my head.

by Anonymousreply 46January 11, 2021 4:48 AM

A few months ago, MAGAts were screaming that Stahl was too hard on Trump. I figure Stahl must be doing something right if both sets of political partisans hate her.

by Anonymousreply 47January 11, 2021 4:51 AM

R45

I don't think younger leadership is necessarily better, but it's a problem when older lawmakers don't seem to be grooming younger politicians to replace them. It will happen eventually, and a power vacuum is best avoided.

Also, there are some lawmakers who aren't doing a very good job hiding their age-related decline. Feinstein should have retired years ago.

by Anonymousreply 48January 11, 2021 4:51 AM

That was a combined 159 years (slavery was still around) of human creaking pretty quickly through the Capitol rotunda.

by Anonymousreply 49January 11, 2021 4:57 AM
but it's a problem when older lawmakers don't seem to be grooming younger politicians to replace them.

I believe the Speaker when she says they are grooming younger politicians. It's just that the press only pays attention to the loud mouths and the attention seekers like AOC and 'the Squad'.

by Anonymousreply 54January 11, 2021 5:06 AM

I'm glad I watched that, there was nothing outrageous about it and she certainly made her points with firmness and yet a light touch

by Anonymousreply 55January 11, 2021 5:14 AM

I saw short clip and she was crying.

by Anonymousreply 56January 11, 2021 6:49 AM

Did you also just read the Cliff Notes instead of the assigned novels in school, R56?

by Anonymousreply 57January 11, 2021 7:25 AM

Lesley came across a bit cunty and ill-informed working for that “gotcha” moment, but Nancy handled the interview with aplomb.

by Anonymousreply 58January 11, 2021 7:50 AM
Very interesting shading of AOC. When asked why AOC has accused Nancy of not lifting up younger House members, Nancy told Stahl, I don't know, you'll have to ask her. Then she added that lots of younger people have been taking on big roles, but they're not as frequently covered by the press.

Who was Nancy referring to, though? Who are these young representatives she's been grooming for leadership? Some 65 year old? She didn't give any examples. It's fine to say she disagrees with the need to groom younger leaders, but I'm struggling to think of who she's referring to. I'm not asking rhetorically. If anyone has examples, please share them. For whatever reason, Nancy didn't offer a single name.

As for the interview itself, I think y'all need to calm down. It's not Lesley Stahl's job to be a sycophant. That was hardly a 'tough' interview. And Nancy handled it just fine, like she usually does. Yeah, the 'both sides' question lacked nuance, but she gave Nancy an opportunity to rebut it.

As for Stahl being a Republican. I have no insight on that. But if you saw the recent (and very unflattering) Showtime docuseries on The Reagans, in which Lesley was a prominently featured talking head, I hardly think you'd come away thinking she was a Republican. She did not mince words about Reagans failings -- personal and political.

by Anonymousreply 59January 11, 2021 8:19 AM

r59 There are quite a few:

Katie Porter

Hakeem Jeffries

Pete Aguilar

Pramilla Jayapal

Ted Lieu

Pete Ciccilline

Sean Maloney

Katherine Clark

Adam Schiff

Jim Himes

Seth Moulton

Ayanna Pressley

Eric Swalwell

And here are so many more. I assume Nancy didn’t call out specific members because there would be too many to list.

by Anonymousreply 60January 11, 2021 8:50 AM

Leslie's pink eye was from not washing her hands after she shits and then touching her eye with her fingers

It's to be expected from someone at her age (79)

by Anonymousreply 61January 11, 2021 8:54 AM

Nancy handled it like a boss while Dump stomped off crying; I agree that 60 Minutes probably felt they had to go hard at her, but she knocked it back across the net without raising a sweat.

I'm not suggesting Nancy is perfect, but I think AOC made a big mistake by alienating her

"Deranged, Unhinged, Dangerous." Love Nancy. Not afraid to call out the worst president our country's ever had. I'm starting my marathon TV viewing to see how much headway they make in getting this embarrassment out of office before the 20th. I'd love to hear the reason Trump won't be attending Biden's inauguration is because his orange ass is rotting in a jail cell.

by Anonymousreply 65January 11, 2021 9:46 AM

STFU, there is nothing wrong with Stahl's questions. Sure she shouldn't have tried to cover so many subjects in one interview, but it was fine. Nancy handled the questions well and they moved on.

Not every single negative or critical thing you disagree with need to be "cancelled". It's because of this faux outrage, we are where we are, in part.

by Anonymousreply 66January 11, 2021 9:49 AM

I've had the same thing with the eye happen to me. It's just a burst blood vessel. When it happened to me it covered both sides with blood. Within a few days it was completely gone.

You'd think someone in our vast government would teach these fools how to use flash drives and/or SD cards to put all the data on they don't want anyone else to see.

No one in DoD is allowed to use flash drives anymore; if Congress has a network like DoD, the laptop data cannot be accessed with a CAC card. Not sure how it easy it is to hack into these computers without one, but even in her absence (if she walked away for 10 minutes to go to the restroom), the laptop would be locked & could not be accessed without the CAC & her secure code

by Anonymousreply 68January 11, 2021 11:18 AM

So I watched this interview after the criticism on this thread. It was a good interview. They both came off well. Stahl asked some hardball questions. And there's problem? You sound like Trumpers who only want softball questions. In fact with Stahl's line of questioning Pelosi came off very well. You obviously did not see Wolf Blitzer's interview with Nancy where she got angry when he asked the same questions, she got very difficult, felt almost as if it were a betrayal, and accused CNN of being Trump apologists! It was a very WTF moment.

by Anonymousreply 69January 11, 2021 11:48 AM

Well, in all due fairness... no one was expecting a deranged mob, riled up by the fucking President of the United States, to storm our goddamned Capitol building, plow over the Capitol Police, and start invading private offices.

by Anonymousreply 80January 11, 2021 3:27 PM

The biggest whoa moment for me is how much she dislikes AOC. It doesn’t bode well for her future, unfortunately, and I happen to like AOC.

by Anonymousreply 81January 11, 2021 3:29 PM

Stahl was right to bring up the Democrats obstruction of the Covid relief bill. The Democrats knew the Republicans wouldn’t deal and this was their political capital. The House leadership is ancient but they are too entrenched.

by Anonymousreply 82January 11, 2021 4:09 PM

There was one moment where Nancy was making movements with her mouth in an odd way. It's something you would normally edit-out, but they deliberately left it in.

by Anonymousreply 83January 11, 2021 4:27 PM

The big mistake you make r81 is equating her (possibly) not liking AOC with Nancy not wanting to work with her. Nancy will work with anyone-- who works with her. She's worked with McConnell, for example. Doesn't have to like him. That's what makes someone a success at the job -- focussing on the goal and not the personalities.

by Anonymousreply 84January 11, 2021 4:49 PM

I don't think the Speaker dislikes AOC. I am not an AOC fan, because she comes from a cozy comfy district and doesn't seem to get the challenges that members outside of those cozy districts have to deal with. But... she's gotten better and has shown a willingness to learn.

The one thing I still don't think she gets is that even though the loudest one in the room gets all the attention, being loud may not always get the kinds of results that you want. Pelosi came to Congress as an AOC type wanting to make big changes, but someone pulled her aside and taught her how to get things done, not by shouting - but by working within the available tools.

My guess is that it frustrates Pelosi, that AOC can't get out of her own way. But that's the Bernie in her, and we all know how effective Bernie is as a legislator.

by Anonymousreply 85January 11, 2021 5:29 PM

R83 She was chewing on the inside of her bottom lip. It made her look pensive. And normal.

by Anonymousreply 86January 11, 2021 5:37 PM

by Anonymousreply 89January 11, 2021 8:08 PM

I don't think Nancy dislikes AOC, either. And AOC is getting more shrewd about how to work the system, which is pissing off some far left progressives. And I consider myself a big ol leftie -- a progressive. But, purity tests are ridiculous. Proof that AOC is working the system? She supported Pelosi for Speaker. She joined committees on Biden's transition team. And she used smarts and leverage to convince Nancy to support getting rid of "Paygo" which will make paying for big, meaningful legislation on healthcare and the environment easier. It probably sounds boring and wonky and it's not very sexy, but it's one step closer to enacting progressive legislation (or, at least, legislation that's more progressive than anything coming out of congress) and she did it without a fight, but by working with progressives and moderates and with Nancy.

For daring to work with Nancy and moderates, some far left progressives are already suggesting on Twitter that she's not progressive and she's an "evil" Centrist in progressive clothing.
