By the Geneva Convention, the occupying power is obliged to provide the people it occupies with the same basic services the occupying power offers to its own population. It is not a surprise that Israel is skirting this obligation, as it has done every other, including the obligation not to steal the lands of the people it occupies.

Except that by agreement, the Palestinian Authority and the UNRWA provide the healthcare for Palestinians. With wanting to be self-governing, you have to be careful what you wish for.

The Palestinian Authority was created to serve as a basis for a future Palestinian government. A government that will never materialize in the words of the Israelis themselves. It exists only to allow Israelis to keep skirting their legal responsibilities and escape the economic cost of their occupation. It must be very good to occupy a foreign nation, stealing its land, filling it with fanatical settlers and not having to provide anything that is expected of an occupying power to the occupied people. Very good and very profitable. Since Palestine will never be free, the Palestinian Authority farce must end and Israel should be forced to pay the shekels now.

As for UNRWA, it has spent the past few years in a starvation regime on the part of the donors of the so-called "international community", especially the US, without a doubt at the behest of the Israelis. The Israelis should have thought of that instead of trying to act out the cheap stereotype now.
