It's an informative video. I never understood exactly why they shot her, but this video makes it clear why it happened. The shots came from the other side of the glass-windowed door she was breaking into, and not from in back of her (which is what I thought happened from the other video.)

It's the sense of entitlement that killed her into a false sense of security. She'd obviously would herself up into a frenzy, and completely forgot that she was trying to break into a restricted zone, being protected by armed law enforcement.

OMG, at the 1:00 min. mark there's like 5 cops holding back hundreds of people.

There are like 2,300 cops assigned to the Capitol building and nearby grounds! Are they working from home due to Covid?

The woman was delusional to think she could enter the Speaker's Chamber by force and not be killed. Everyone who has been to DC knows the Secret Service don't play, you can't take a pair of nail scissors into national buildings.

The few capitol police and secret service saved the day. Can you imagine if they got hold of Pence or Pelosi? They both would have been killed.

It's not their fault, they just do the grunt work. Instructions have to come from the top, and there seems to be no one in charge, no preparation, no backup. The cops look terrified, not knowing what to do. Not wanting a massacre. Not wanting to lose their jobs or their lives.

Heads have to roll from the top on down, starting with Trump- who has been meticulously planning this travesty for months in the bunker (including having his rally at the same time to draw law enforcement away from the scene of the crime).

This is classic Trump: revenge.

I just read that there are no laws dealing specifically with Domestic Terrorism! What are they going to charge people with- trespassing?

Meanwhile I have read accounts here from posters who claim they have seen a video with a white woman saying (paraphrasing) "Why are they shooting at us? They're supposed to be shooting at the black people!"

These monsters are planning more mayhem for the inauguration . This riot was all over the internet and there HAD TO HAVE BEEN COMPLICITY FROM INSIDERS. Otherwise, how is it possible our so called intelligence never reported it???

Inauguration should be virtual event for everyone’s safety. Why has this not been discussed ??!

Presumably they can put them away on something similar to the charges they used to lock up the animal rights protestors in 2006, which were made possible by the PATRIOT Act.

I believe like you do that these people certainly deserved to be shot, but I think if this had been a bloodbath, it would have opened the door for a lot more sympathetic takes for the rioters. It would have been even more difficult for the country as a whole to get over it, and it would have started a whole cottage industry of martyrdom that Trump would have exploited for years.

We were lucky it was only one woman shot and one cop beaten to death, plus three people killed by their own fellow insurrectionists or their own stupidity.

The officers in front of the door are talking about something and then leave after identifying something in front of them, down the steps. Later when the crowd clears after Ashli is shot, more officers in tactical gear and with better weapons show up from that same direction, and I'm certain that's why the first officers left their post, either trying to get to the reinforcements or because the reinforcements were on their way.

If the crowd hadn't blocked the second set of officers, they probably would have gotten in there soon enough to have prevented anyone from getting shot in the first place. Ah well, fuck around and find out.

God, that middle aged Karen yelling at a cop at the end, like she's complaining to a manager, is unbelievable. Her face is so very punchable.

I saw several videos she had put up on social media - not sure if it was FB or IG. She was driving and raging, ranting the usual litany. She also had a record, something about her exes girlfriend. Had been in Air Force, deployed 4 times. Another social media radical. Mixed in with the buffalo horned cosplay loons and rebel grannies are many ex military, cops, firefighters. These people are fit, trained, armed and physically unafraid.

There's a lot to criticize the police about, but one thing is clear, there could have been an awfully lot more people killed if the police had been given orders to draw their weapons.

The rioters were armed with makeshift weapons and were intent in doing harm, so the police could have escalated things a lot more.

They guy who recorded the video has be arrested. Most of the charges against him come from his video that he freely shared.
