Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev demands more time in the prison shower!

BOSTON (AP) — Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has sued the federal government for $250,000 over his treatment at the Colorado prison where he is serving a life sentence.

Tsarnaev, 26, calls his treatment in the handwritten suit filed Monday “unlawful, unreasonable and discriminatory.” He cites the confiscation of a white baseball cap and bandana that he bought at the prison commissary and a limit of three showers per week, the Boston Herald reported.

His treatment at the supermax Federal Correctional Complex Florence is contributing to his “mental and physical decline," he says in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit has been assigned to a judge, according to court records. The judge said Tuesday the filing is deficient because it does not include a “certified copy of prisoner’s trust fund statement” and a $402 filing fee.

An email seeking comment was left Thursday with the federal Bureau of Prisons.

Tsarnaev alleges his cap and bandana were confiscated by prison guards “because, by wearing it, I was ‘disrespecting’ the FBI and the victims” of the April 15, 2013, bombing.

During the investigation, Tsarnaev was referred to by law enforcement as “White Hat” when he was seen on surveillance video leaving the scene of the bombings.

Three people died and more than 260 people were injured at the scene when two pressure cooker bombs were set off near the marathon's finish line.

Tsarnaev's older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed in a shootout with police three days later.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was convicted and sentenced to death, but the death sentence was overturned last July by a federal appeals court that said the judge who oversaw the case did not adequately screen jurors for potential biases. That decision has been appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 1January 8, 2021 5:39 AM

Do they have group showers where he is?

by Anonymousreply 2January 8, 2021 5:41 AM

He’s demanding $250,000 because they took a ball cap and bandanna and limited him to 3 showers a week? Mary!

by Anonymousreply 3January 8, 2021 5:44 AM

I'm not a fan of bombing Boston and all that. And his complaints are relatively minor compared to a lot of appalling, rampant abuses in U.S. prisons.

But not providing daily showers to the incarcerated is not okay.

U.S. prisons ARE seriously fucked up. And we ARE in serious need of prison reform (for one thing, prohibiting for-profit prisons).

by Anonymousreply 4January 8, 2021 6:06 AM

[quote] But not providing daily showers to the incarcerated is not okay.

Considering what he did to his victims - many dead, many with lost limbs - I don't feel sorry for him one bit.

At least he's still alive and has all his body parts.

Which is more than what many of his victims can say.

by Anonymousreply 5January 8, 2021 6:09 AM

He has all his body parts except a brain and heart.

by Anonymousreply 6January 8, 2021 6:11 AM

Maybe he should have thought about all this before, you know, he teamed up with his brother and decided to, you know, kill and maim people?

by Anonymousreply 7January 8, 2021 6:13 AM

R5, R7

Civilized societies support the concept of human rights even for incarcerated people who committed terrible acts.

It's called having a moral compass. Being humane.

by Anonymousreply 8January 8, 2021 6:23 AM

[quote] His treatment at the supermax Federal Correctional Complex Florence is contributing to his “mental and physical decline," he says in the lawsuit.

A life in prison will do that.

by Anonymousreply 9January 8, 2021 6:24 AM

he needs more time to jerk off.

by Anonymousreply 10January 8, 2021 6:26 AM

R8, I go a day or so every so often not showering.

I'm all for humane treatment. But was he counting on that when he got caught?

by Anonymousreply 11January 8, 2021 6:28 AM

I thought he had been executed already.

by Anonymousreply 12January 8, 2021 6:29 AM

Forget all that, what has his sex life been like?

by Anonymousreply 13January 8, 2021 6:33 AM

I’d argue that he was already at max mental decline when he killed and maimed people.

R12, his death sentence was overturned in July of last year.

by Anonymousreply 14January 8, 2021 6:40 AM

I could see a petty issue like showering being a source of distress if I had no chance of ever being released from prison.

by Anonymousreply 15January 8, 2021 6:43 AM

His death sentence may have been overturned, but he’s never getting out of prison.

by Anonymousreply 16January 8, 2021 6:45 AM

I'm lucky to get 3 showers a month.

by Anonymousreply 17January 8, 2021 6:46 AM

He was riddled with bullets in that boat. Wasn't his face shot off? Is there anything left that recalls the pot head dreamboy of yore?

by Anonymousreply 19January 8, 2021 6:50 AM

If he's not doing major physical labor a shower every other day is more than enough. I assume prisoners' clothes are washed regularly? If so, he's using the shower mostly for relaxation, and well, that's obviously ok but being able to take a hot shower every other day is a luxury many people aren't even able to do. Why should a mass murderer? A shower 'only' three times a week is hardly torture.

There's a possibility he's the jail bike and seriously needs showers to clean himself after all the cocks he's forced to take. I mean, look at him, the picture's not new but he's probably still a pretty young thing among a sea of ogres. No idea if they keep him in solitary confinement, though.

by Anonymousreply 20January 8, 2021 6:56 AM

Only in America.

by Anonymousreply 21January 8, 2021 7:00 AM

He's a god to us...

by Anonymousreply 22January 8, 2021 7:02 AM

[quote] Civilized societies support the concept of human rights even for incarcerated people who committed terrible acts.

Only on DL would people think that not being able to take a shower every single day is a grave violation of human rights.

by Anonymousreply 23January 8, 2021 7:05 AM

Poor guy needs a vacay.

Send him to Boston for a week. Put him up in the YMCA, and let him shower to his heart’s content.

by Anonymousreply 24January 8, 2021 7:08 AM

[quote] Considering what he did to his victims - many dead, many with lost limbs - I don't feel sorry for him one bit.

He should be executed. You cannot confine a man for the rest of his life and only allow 3 showers a week. In this case I would be in favor of the death penalty. No further taxpayer expense and no liability for discrimination.

by Anonymousreply 25January 8, 2021 7:13 AM

[quote] You cannot confine a man for the rest of his life and only allow 3 showers a week.

Why not?

by Anonymousreply 26January 8, 2021 7:14 AM

R23

You're intentionally misrepresenting what I said. Quoting myself from R4, "his complaints are relatively minor". Does that sound like I was arguing that thrice weekly showering is "a grave violation of human rights"?

Having said that, I do believe that access to basic hygiene for incarcerated people including daily showers is a humane standard that civilized societies should meet.

You people sound like you'd consider bringing back the stocks as 'progress'.

by Anonymousreply 27January 8, 2021 7:18 AM

He can buy a lot of soap with $250,000.

by Anonymousreply 28January 8, 2021 7:20 AM

In all seriousness, pre-Covid I was active and showered every other day, Now that I pretty much do nothing most days (like Tsarnaev) it’s usually every 3rd day - and I’m not stinkin’ up the joint.

by Anonymousreply 29January 8, 2021 7:26 AM

The $250,000 if he gets any of it, should go to his victims.

by Anonymousreply 30January 8, 2021 7:38 AM

Too many people in the world and we treat them like they’re disposable from him to his victims and the prisons to prisoners. Civilized Nordic countries rehab criminals or make them lead the most productive lives possible, we torture and make criminals worse. If you’re not rich, America is a third world shithole hiding behind the glitz of reality tv and good PR.

by Anonymousreply 33January 8, 2021 7:56 AM

Bullet in the back of the skull is the only thing he deserves. Send the bill for the bullet to his cunt skank mother.

by Anonymousreply 34January 8, 2021 8:02 AM

Maybe Christie Smythe can help him.

by Anonymousreply 35January 8, 2021 8:08 AM

Hopefully the SC will rule in favor of his execution. Then he can take as many showers as he wants in his Muslim paradise.

by Anonymousreply 36January 8, 2021 8:14 AM

A shower every other day is sufficient. It’s not as if he’s toiling in the coal mines (alas).

Should have been executed.

by Anonymousreply 37January 8, 2021 8:14 AM

Tsarnaev doesn't work up much of a sweat wanking about murdering Infidels.

by Anonymousreply 38January 8, 2021 8:43 AM

[quote]Civilized Nordic countries rehab criminals or make them lead the most productive lives possible

Privileged, homogeneous Nordic countries have neither the glut of population nor the angry, violent populace.

by Anonymousreply 39January 8, 2021 8:50 AM

I wonder if he’s seeing anyone?

by Anonymousreply 40January 8, 2021 8:56 AM

R39 As the richest country in the world, the US populace should be privileged too. Of course people are angry when so very few control so much of the wealth.

by Anonymousreply 41January 8, 2021 9:52 AM

I'm sorry, but possession of your baseball cap and bandana, and a daily shower are not basic human rights.

by Anonymousreply 43January 8, 2021 11:19 AM

R4 I’m glad you assured us that you weren’t “a fan” of the bombing. 🙄

I guess you had to differentiate yourself from the people you associate with who WERE “fans” of it because....woke?

by Anonymousreply 44January 8, 2021 11:34 AM

R42, Vikings were fairly angry and violent but whatever.

by Anonymousreply 45January 8, 2021 11:40 AM

Yes R33 the USA is such an awful, racist country. IF ONLY we could convince people from all the CIVILIZED countries to immigrate here! If only we had something to offer...

by Anonymousreply 46January 8, 2021 11:43 AM

I don't think believing that three showers a week is enough for a prisoner means I "lack a moral compass." It's not inhumane to have three showers a week instead of seven.

We absolutely need prison reform but not for petty little things like this.

by Anonymousreply 49January 8, 2021 12:19 PM

Next people will be saying it’s inhumane to deny prisoners a daily bath bomb from Lush.

by Anonymousreply 50January 8, 2021 12:27 PM

R44

I was differentiating between (1) approval of the actions of the incarcerated and (2) belief in humane standards of incarceration.

"I guess you had to differentiate yourself from the people you associate with who WERE “fans” of it because....woke?"

Woke is black american vernacular for 'socially conscious'. Being socially conscious is a good thing. The fact that you need this explained to you demonstrates some serious personal defects on your part.

R50

There's a term for what you're doing. It's called the slippery slope fallacy.

R51 You really felt the need to say you didn’t approve of the bombing. How tolerant of you.

by Anonymousreply 52January 8, 2021 1:08 PM

R52

I felt the need to say that because I was anticipating ridiculous lines of argument from some people.

And lo and behold, here you are, fulfilling that expectation with gusto.

by Anonymousreply 53January 8, 2021 1:13 PM

What exactly is the reason not to offer a shower a day? Serious question. Are they afraid of reprisals and they can't spare the staff to stand guard, or what?

by Anonymousreply 55January 8, 2021 1:23 PM

If you're incarcerating people, you need to let them take frequent showers. Otherwise they'll spread germs and vermin.

by Anonymousreply 56January 8, 2021 1:29 PM

Yes, by choice. Your freedom to shower everyday has not been curtailed to punish you. His punishment is incarceration for the rest of his life -- not torture. He cannot be arbitrarily abused or deprived of whatever human rights incarceration must entail.

However, if he is executed -- problem solved.

by Anonymousreply 61January 8, 2021 10:35 PM

The denegrations! Abuse, I'll tell you.

(But to be serious - they have a faucet in their room, they can wash up anytime they want to from the sink).

by Anonymousreply 63January 8, 2021 10:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 64January 8, 2021 11:00 PM

My gorgeous, elegant nana was in a high-end nursing home and used to complain about getting a shower every other day. She would have preferred twice a week with washing up in between. She said the excessive showers dried out her skin. She also didn’t let them wash her hair as she had a standing weekly visit at the “beauty parlor” in the nursing home.

by Anonymousreply 71January 8, 2021 11:34 PM

It's nonsense to claim it is nonsense. It is completely relative. Denying access to a shower in a filthy prison is punishment. Whether it is a deprivation of a human right is a question for a trier of fact -- not you.

by Anonymousreply 72January 9, 2021 12:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 73January 9, 2021 12:51 AM

For the love of God, a person who has nowhere to go does not need a daily shower. It’s not a hotel and it isn’t meant to be.

by Anonymousreply 74January 9, 2021 12:57 AM

Islam demands personal cleanliness, hence the need for bathing. I DEMAND he be given the right to practice Islam according to the full tenets of the faith.

by Anonymousreply 75January 9, 2021 1:04 AM

[quote] a person who has nowhere to go does not need a daily shower

He probably works out every day and sweats.

After a couple of days, he probably gets a little funky.

I'd even settle for a bucket of water and a bar of soap.

by Anonymousreply 76January 9, 2021 1:08 AM

He's an asshat of the first order.

If he's not being treated equitably, then he has a point. We don't draw distinctions in prison based on the crime you committed. While prisoners are treated differently based on other factors, the crime itself generally doesn't play into it.

If other prisoners are allowed to bathe more frequently, then he should be allowed as well, not matter how repugnant his crimes are.

Apropos of nothing, ADX Florence houses the worst of the worst.

I assume he's in solitary for 23 hours a day? The inmates at highest risk of escape are. And their cells are periodically rotated so they never know where they are in the facility.

Being that isolated would feel like torture and bother me far more than only three showers a week.
