1/6 Joint session of Congress counts the electoral college votes Megathread - PART 2

AZ voting being done now

by Anonymousreply 156January 7, 2021 7:36 PM

Traitors: Cruz, Hawley, Hyde-Smith, Kennedy, Marshall, Tuberville

by Anonymousreply 1January 7, 2021 2:08 AM

They're doing this for every state?!

by Anonymousreply 2January 7, 2021 2:08 AM

The coup is OFF!

Fucking idiot trolls here! LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 3January 7, 2021 2:09 AM

R2 only objected states. It is expected that the only other state to be formally objected will be PA. But who knows.

by Anonymousreply 4January 7, 2021 2:10 AM

It's up in the air, R2. Earlier it was expected that there would be objections to the votes of six states. After the rioting and insurrection it appears that some of the senators have backed off, but it is still unclear how many objections will occur. Stay tuned.

by Anonymousreply 5January 7, 2021 2:11 AM

If the Senate doesn’t join any further objections in the EC count, no, they won’t. Hawley gave his PA spiel during the AZ debate, so he may not plan to follow through with that objection. We’ll see.

by Anonymousreply 6January 7, 2021 2:11 AM

Hyde-Smith is the lady who told a group of people she’d love to invite them over for a public lynching.

by Anonymousreply 7January 7, 2021 2:12 AM

Damn. The house isn’t gonna be done with AZ until midnight

by Anonymousreply 8January 7, 2021 2:12 AM

There is a two-hour limit on the debate, which is ending soon.

by Anonymousreply 9January 7, 2021 2:13 AM

[quote]Hyde-Smith is the lady who told a group of people she’d love to invite them over for a public lynching.

It takes awhile for the full house to vote.

Lawrence is speculating that Mitch is allowing open floor speeches in the senate right now in order to avoid any more objections

by Anonymousreply 11January 7, 2021 2:15 AM

Claire McCaskill just said Hawley is the lone holdout. Mitch is trying to convince him not to object to PA

by Anonymousreply 12January 7, 2021 2:16 AM

C-SPAN 1 has the house debate

by Anonymousreply 13January 7, 2021 2:22 AM

I loathe Pat Toomey (I'm in PA), but I'll give him credit for being sane tonight.

by Anonymousreply 14January 7, 2021 2:22 AM

Senator Hyde-Smith is a Confederate patriot.

Senate vote was 93-6 against the objection to Arizona.

by Anonymousreply 16January 7, 2021 2:26 AM

House is voting

by Anonymousreply 17January 7, 2021 2:29 AM

The Hee-Haw Caucus:

Cruz

Hawley

Hyde-smith

Marshall

On to Bolorado!

by Anonymousreply 19January 7, 2021 2:46 AM

I vote for one cup of Wessonality!

by Anonymousreply 20January 7, 2021 2:49 AM

Who is the democrat in the house that voted yea on Arizona?

by Anonymousreply 21January 7, 2021 2:56 AM

Meant to call Tuberville...left voicemail on the wrong number

[quote] Who is the democrat in the house that voted yea on Arizona?

I am looking at it right now on CSPAN and no Democrat voted Yea, 119 republicans did though.

by Anonymousreply 23January 7, 2021 2:59 AM

Weird, the democratic vote in the house disappeared after being onscreen for about 10 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 24January 7, 2021 2:59 AM

It was there r23, but disappeared. A friend and I were texting about it and then poof it was gone. Nancy must have threatened to shank a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 25January 7, 2021 3:01 AM

Ooh, CONSPIRACY, R24 and R25!

Better get these facts to Parler and have Maria Bartiromo launch a prompt investigation!

by Anonymousreply 26January 7, 2021 3:03 AM

Yikes @ that Rudy voicemail. “Buy some time”. Time for what?

Trump needs to be removed

by Anonymousreply 27January 7, 2021 3:10 AM

Do blow it out your ass R26. I never claimed conspiracy. I noted the vote was removed as I hit post. It was obviously a mistake that was corrected.

Lindsey can't get back what he never had in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 30January 7, 2021 3:25 AM

Another from PA, and you’re probably right, but it’s a low bar for a a Republican, R14.

by Anonymousreply 31January 7, 2021 3:32 AM

r22, Giuliani needs to pay for his part in what happened today too.

by Anonymousreply 32January 7, 2021 3:35 AM

[quote]Traitors: Cruz, Hawley, Hyde-Smith, Kennedy, Marshall, Tuberville

I told you all that Marshall was trouble. If the GOP is truly scared out of their wits now and coming to their senses, like Lindsey's drunken rant on the floor tonight seems to indicate, they need to get that man either under control or out of the Senate.

by Anonymousreply 33January 7, 2021 3:38 AM

CSPAN has graphics issues a lot, R23, I'm sure that's all it was. Votes disappear and then five minutes later when someone in the studio finally notices it, it gets corrected.

by Anonymousreply 34January 7, 2021 3:39 AM

PA maybe the only one objected in the senate. House probably has more but without senator’s support it won’t go futher. But after what happened earlier one is too many.

by Anonymousreply 35January 7, 2021 3:42 AM

I knew that Colbert would be on fire tonight.

by Anonymousreply 36January 7, 2021 3:45 AM

The Arizona lady reporting the state’s electoral votes has referred to the its “electorial votes” twice tonight.

by Anonymousreply 37January 7, 2021 3:47 AM

I wish a Democratic Representative would jump up and object to every state.

When asked if there was a Senator co-signing, they could say "No, but since today is apparently a day for circus performances and fundraising emails, I would like to make some unfounded claims about Republican fraud in the elections held in this state. And this twirling interpretive dance."

by Anonymousreply 38January 7, 2021 3:48 AM

Georgia objection fails. No senator joined

by Anonymousreply 39January 7, 2021 3:51 AM

Pence was visibly annoyed when the GA house member stood up to object

by Anonymousreply 40January 7, 2021 3:52 AM

God no, R38. Get this certification over with for now, then move on to deciding what to do about the coup attempt today.

by Anonymousreply 41January 7, 2021 3:52 AM

Has anybody brought up Bill Barr's name and questioned why he resigned so suddenly three weeks ago? I wonder if today's events had anything to do with it.

by Anonymousreply 42January 7, 2021 3:53 AM

Is Dianne still hanging in there? It’s way past her bedtime.

by Anonymousreply 43January 7, 2021 4:02 AM

This was definitely planned, up to and including Trump delaying his "call for peace" and delaying the National Guard coming in.

Barr HAD to have gotten wind of this. That motherfucking coward just ran and kept his trap shut.

by Anonymousreply 44January 7, 2021 4:03 AM

Michigan objection failed. No senator signed on.

Looks like it will only be PA and then we’re done. Probably around 2:30/3am

by Anonymousreply 45January 7, 2021 4:04 AM

Was the fly not invited back?

by Anonymousreply 46January 7, 2021 4:08 AM

Nevada objection failed

by Anonymousreply 47January 7, 2021 4:09 AM

I know we have bigger fish to fry, but is Pence always that tan? It might be my TV, but just checking.

by Anonymousreply 48January 7, 2021 4:11 AM

It would be great if Hawley walked the PA shit back and we all got out of here by 1 AM.

by Anonymousreply 49January 7, 2021 4:11 AM

R48 Pence spent the holidays skiing in Vail. You can get a lot of sun skiing. I once got a really bad sunburn on the ski slopes.

by Anonymousreply 50January 7, 2021 4:15 AM

Well fuck. PA went through. We'll be here all night.

by Anonymousreply 51January 7, 2021 4:15 AM

Well, which is it then? Was the presidency unjustly stolen by evil libs or not?

Because this terrorism is the natural outcome of their GOP political theater depicting democracy as being literally stolen by people they often describe as plainly EVIL.

If they actually believed what they said, then they should still be objecting and they should be praising the terrorists as brave patriots.

by Anonymousreply 52January 7, 2021 4:16 AM

Yeah they likely won’t be finished unit around 3/3:30 now.

Hawley is going to be the enemy of the senate for a long time

by Anonymousreply 53January 7, 2021 4:16 AM

Futile PA objection is futile. But the fascists have some VERY IMPORTANT 2024 primary speeches to deliver, so here we go.

by Anonymousreply 54January 7, 2021 4:18 AM

That's it, I'm off to bed. NYT just said that 2 hours of congressional debate equals 3-4 hours of real time, AND there could be an sustained objection to Wisconsin, too. This thing might not wrap up until tomorrow morning.

by Anonymousreply 55January 7, 2021 4:18 AM

Oh no, are they really making these old people stay up all night listening to speeches and debate? This is abusive. I fear there will be some ‘medical emergencies’ before this is all said and done.

by Anonymousreply 56January 7, 2021 4:19 AM

R55, by the time they get to Wisconsin, Biden will be over 270, and it won’t matter.

by Anonymousreply 57January 7, 2021 4:19 AM

Hawley isn’t planning on using his time to speak. So the senate could vote immediately. Unclear if pelosi can speed up the process in the house.

by Anonymousreply 58January 7, 2021 4:19 AM

The Second Civil War turned out to be more of a Beer Hall Putsch.

by Anonymousreply 59January 7, 2021 4:20 AM

I’m out too. I feel for these elderly folks.

by Anonymousreply 60January 7, 2021 4:21 AM

Nancy sounds hoarse.

by Anonymousreply 61January 7, 2021 4:22 AM

I doubt there will be an objection to WI. That wasn’t even part of the initial plan. This is probably it.

by Anonymousreply 62January 7, 2021 4:22 AM

Senate expected to yield back their two hours and just hold a vote. Perhaps Nancy can shave an hour off the house’s debate time

by Anonymousreply 63January 7, 2021 4:24 AM

R42,

by Anonymousreply 64January 7, 2021 4:25 AM

Hawley and Gaetz are both utter pieces of shit. So is Cruz. Absolute filth.

by Anonymousreply 65January 7, 2021 4:26 AM

The senate has moved to immediately vote on the objection

But we have to wait for the house

by Anonymousreply 66January 7, 2021 4:33 AM

Rick Scott an “aye” on PA, was no for AZ

by Anonymousreply 67January 7, 2021 4:38 AM

Final vote

8 aye 91 nay

Scott and Lummis voted nay in AZ, but yea here

by Anonymousreply 68January 7, 2021 4:40 AM

Rick Scott is a piece of corrupt, criminal shit.

by Anonymousreply 69January 7, 2021 4:40 AM

As another Floridian, R69, I agree.

by Anonymousreply 70January 7, 2021 4:41 AM

There's going to be an investigation into this whole dirty business. They're just trying to get the election wrapped up first.

by Anonymousreply 71January 7, 2021 4:44 AM

Correction:

The vote was 7-92.

Kennedy voted nay, despite voting aye for AZ

Senator Mike Lee yelled out “hell no” when his name was called

The senate is over this shit

by Anonymousreply 72January 7, 2021 4:46 AM

Which Senator is missing? (The votes on AZ and PA have both totaled 99.)

by Anonymousreply 73January 7, 2021 4:46 AM

McConnell is voting to adjourn the Senate and reconvene on the 8th. Oh is poor old Mitchy TIRED?

by Anonymousreply 74January 7, 2021 4:47 AM

WTF? Let's get this done -not drag it out another two days!

by Anonymousreply 75January 7, 2021 4:48 AM

FUCK YOU, MITCH!

You did this.

by Anonymousreply 76January 7, 2021 4:48 AM

Why the 8th r74?

What about...oh, I don't know...tomorrow?

by Anonymousreply 77January 7, 2021 4:49 AM

It will be finished tonight

by Anonymousreply 78January 7, 2021 4:50 AM

R73 There are currently only 99 senators. Perdue of Georgia's term expired at the end of the last Congress (1/3), so that seat is vacant. Once Ossoff is certified and sworn in, there will be 100 senators again.

by Anonymousreply 79January 7, 2021 4:51 AM

Guys relax. The vote counting will be completed tonight. Mitch is basically saying everyone gets a day off tomorrow

Also means there will be no further objections.

by Anonymousreply 80January 7, 2021 4:52 AM

R75 After everything they’ve been through today you really think these 80+ year old congresspeople should be forced to sit there listening to speeches all night too? That’s just inhumane.

by Anonymousreply 81January 7, 2021 4:52 AM

Oh, how I feel for these old, privileged white people... Having to stay up late one night!

by Anonymousreply 82January 7, 2021 4:53 AM

Yeah, I think they should. They broke it, they bought it. They need to stay the fuck up and get the fucking election certified.

by Anonymousreply 83January 7, 2021 4:54 AM

Was Taylor Greene the new congresswoman from Georgia who objects to the ballots pertaining to the president and not HER election. Not rigged mine, but Trump yes.

by Anonymousreply 84January 7, 2021 4:58 AM

R84 — Yep, she’s the cunt you’re thinking of.

by Anonymousreply 85January 7, 2021 5:11 AM

The Lincoln Project is going to destroy Cruz and Hawley's careers and post-public service (HA!) lives by wrecking their chances as well-paid lawyers, board members, etc.

And deservedly so.

by Anonymousreply 86January 7, 2021 5:13 AM

They already tweeted that they're coming for them. Awesome.

by Anonymousreply 87January 7, 2021 5:13 AM

[quote]After everything they’ve been through today you really think these 80+ year old congresspeople should be forced to sit there listening to speeches all night too? That’s just inhumane.

They've done all-nighters before. This isn't their first rodeo.

by Anonymousreply 88January 7, 2021 5:16 AM

MSNBC showed several times one scene of today's storming of the Capitol where you see the Capitol police milling about on top of the entrance stairs and the mob a bit below. A dark clad guy looking like Cap police detaches from the mob, goes up the stairs to the police, and at the same time the mob rushes up en masse, and the police IMMEDIATELY STEP ASIDE TO LET THEM IN THE BUILDING!!!!

What was this shit?

by Anonymousreply 89January 7, 2021 5:19 AM

Some of the Capitol police were complicit with the rioters r89.

by Anonymousreply 90January 7, 2021 5:24 AM

Dang...Mitch really wanna go home, y'all! She pulled all the stops to miffed all the other Senate, then when that Cunt breaks rank (for no reason!!), she's like biiiitch no, we vote now.

by Anonymousreply 91January 7, 2021 5:29 AM

[quote] After everything they’ve been through today you really think these 80+ year old congresspeople should be forced to sit there listening to speeches all night too? That’s just inhumane.

For old folks sleep's a waste of precious time.

by Anonymousreply 92January 7, 2021 5:30 AM

Bitches wake up! They are voting!

by Anonymousreply 93January 7, 2021 6:30 AM

The Pennsylvania debate is FINALLY over. Now they're voting.

by Anonymousreply 94January 7, 2021 6:30 AM

And, of course, they couldn't just do a voice vote. Has to be a recorded vote.

by Anonymousreply 95January 7, 2021 6:33 AM

So probably another hour until this is all over

by Anonymousreply 96January 7, 2021 6:33 AM

Bitches, it is done! 244 Nay, sleepy time!

by Anonymousreply 97January 7, 2021 6:51 AM

The Senate has voted. The House vote is a mathematical certainty (only 62 votes remaining and the Nays have a 100+ margin. I think R96 is probably right -They have to get the senators back in and reconvene. The they have to do twelve more states.

by Anonymousreply 98January 7, 2021 6:52 AM

Any Senator who objects to Wisconsin deserves a square kick in the balls.

by Anonymousreply 99January 7, 2021 6:59 AM

I will personally go to DC and kick them in the cunt bone!

by Anonymousreply 100January 7, 2021 7:06 AM

r100, Stevie, is that you?

by Anonymousreply 101January 7, 2021 7:18 AM

'Fraid not, R101. Don't know who Stevie is, but we must think alike so I like him. ;)

by Anonymousreply 102January 7, 2021 7:19 AM

r102. Stevie Nicks. An old DL joke, nevermind. ;)

by Anonymousreply 103January 7, 2021 7:20 AM

We can both be forgiven, given the hour.

by Anonymousreply 105January 7, 2021 7:24 AM

Pence looks exhausted.

by Anonymousreply 106January 7, 2021 7:28 AM

271. It's done.

by Anonymousreply 107January 7, 2021 7:34 AM

I'd be exhausted too. The President put a target on his head, pushing this process into the night.

by Anonymousreply 108January 7, 2021 7:35 AM

And trump can’t even tweet! Haha

by Anonymousreply 109January 7, 2021 7:36 AM

Come on motherfuckers, don't you dare object to Wisconsin. Let's finish this shit.

by Anonymousreply 110January 7, 2021 7:36 AM

FUCK YOU TEXAS ASSHOLE

by Anonymousreply 111January 7, 2021 7:37 AM

HA HA NO SENATOR FUCK YOU LYING SHIT FROM TEXAS

by Anonymousreply 112January 7, 2021 7:38 AM

I can't believe they are still lying about the votes in Wisconsin. STILL. After everything that happened today.

by Anonymousreply 113January 7, 2021 7:39 AM

Fucking FINALLY.

by Anonymousreply 114January 7, 2021 7:40 AM

Tears of joy and of exhaustion.

I despise Mike Pence and all he stands for -But he has done his duty with dignity tonight.

by Anonymousreply 115January 7, 2021 7:41 AM

Honestly, I just feel numb. Maybe I'll feel different in a few hours, but right now, it seems empty. Trump has managed to suck every bit of joy out of our victory. So I guess he won in that regard. But my feeling is that the Powers that Be will make him pay for it. Soon.

by Anonymousreply 116January 7, 2021 7:44 AM

Pence is pissed at Trump if reports are true.

He is probably relieved it is just about over.

But is he still planning to leave the country now after what has happened?

by Anonymousreply 117January 7, 2021 7:44 AM

I've felt numb for years. It's nice to see the process take place, but this just feels like the start. Do we think anything's going to happen tomorrow? I just can't imagine yesterday's events just taking a backseat.

by Anonymousreply 118January 7, 2021 7:46 AM

It does bring me some satisfaction that in the end Trump was muted while his fate was sealed.

by Anonymousreply 119January 7, 2021 7:47 AM

Here's the fun bit: Twitter has said that if Trump breaks the rules even one more time, his account is permanently banned. So when he comes out of Twitter jail at 7 AM, he'd better stick to the facts. Or he'll have another humiliation to add to the rest.

by Anonymousreply 120January 7, 2021 7:48 AM

I think the investigations into yesterday have only just begun.

by Anonymousreply 121January 7, 2021 7:48 AM

R120

'Now Donald, if one more person dies in relation to your misuse of our social media platform, that's it! You're grounded for life! You've got this warning for the last death that happened, but this is your last warning!'

I don't feel that much better knowing that billionaire techbros are 'getting serious' as baby-sitters for our lunatic, racist, russophile president...especially since it's only just now occurring right before public interest (and internet traffic) surrounding him are about to fall off dramatically. What a coincidence. $$$

by Anonymousreply 122January 7, 2021 7:57 AM

[quote]Statement by President Donald J. Trump on the Electoral Certification:

by Anonymousreply 127January 7, 2021 8:24 AM

R104, Evans' office number is (304) 340-3155 if anyone wants to leave him a message. I don't think he'll like mine much.

by Anonymousreply 128January 7, 2021 8:26 AM

I just woke up and don't want to scroll through this thread.

After Congress reconvened, did anyone raise objections? Because they've already certified, I'm guessing not?

by Anonymousreply 129January 7, 2021 8:39 AM

There were objections but they were either only from the House and couldn't get a Senator to sponsor them, or they were quickly voted down. Loeffler dropped her objection but I'm not sure anyone else did. Hawley signed off on the PA objection but it was voted down, and once it was, that was the end of it.

I think someone still tried to object to Wisconsin after that, but there wasn't any point to doing so.

by Anonymousreply 130January 7, 2021 8:48 AM

[quote]Pence is pissed at Trump if reports are true.

How could he not be? Trump basically told his Proud Boy psychofans to come after Pence yesterday, which they did.

by Anonymousreply 131January 7, 2021 8:49 AM

Thanks r130

by Anonymousreply 132January 7, 2021 8:50 AM

[quote] I think someone still tried to object to Wisconsin after that, but there wasn't any point to doing so.

Some House member from TX tried but he had no signature from a senator. I think shitheel Ron Johnson was going to do it but even he backed down after the events of the day.

by Anonymousreply 133January 7, 2021 8:53 AM

Did Cruz object?

by Anonymousreply 134January 7, 2021 8:57 AM

Thank you r133, I had heard Johnson was going to sign off so I went looking for info on it but found nothing, I guess because he backed down.

I had to take a break from all this when they started objecting to PA so I missed some of it. It was making me too angry.

by Anonymousreply 135January 7, 2021 9:01 AM

Rep Louie Gohmert of Texas (yes, another Texas asshole) was the Congress member who objected to Wisconsin's electoral votes. He's the vile pig who called for "street violence" on Newsmax a few days ago after a federal judge threw out his election lawsuit.

by Anonymousreply 138January 7, 2021 9:24 AM

Conor Lamb is my new Senate crush.

by Anonymousreply 139January 7, 2021 9:25 AM

Conor Lamb is going to be our future president - mark my words.

by Anonymousreply 140January 7, 2021 9:46 AM

Conor is hot stuff - former Marine, former federal prosecutor, Ivy League grad, basketball player, size 14 feet, new wife and baby - YES DADDY!!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 141January 7, 2021 9:50 AM

Yeah, Conor Lamb had a great showing. Hope to see more from him!

The Republicans seem so childish. It's like they don't realize that the voters they're courting are the ones that ultimately hate them.

by Anonymousreply 142January 7, 2021 9:55 AM

George Will: Trump, Hawley and Cruz will each wear the scarlet 'S' of a seditionist.

by Anonymousreply 143January 7, 2021 12:47 PM

Lamb is cute but he doesn't seem to have the gravitas of a major politician. Maybe he'll improve as he ages. I did.

by Anonymousreply 144January 7, 2021 1:31 PM

He'll have to duke it out with Ossof for the position of Young White Hope of the party.

by Anonymousreply 145January 7, 2021 2:08 PM

Two funny things last night....

When the Senators were coming back in the for resumption of the Joint Session.....Mike Pence was in front and people were applauding him. Snitch McConnell was behind him and obvious thought the applause was for him and was using his hands to quiet folks down..... HAHAHAHA!

Dianne Feinstein was sitting behind McConnell.....and she was late.....and spent ten minutes digging in her purse.......

by Anonymousreply 146January 7, 2021 3:33 PM

Dianne Feinstein’s demeanor is alarming, at best. Did she even know what was going on? She used to be great, but her day is over.

by Anonymousreply 147January 7, 2021 3:39 PM

Who was the guy sitting behind the Dem lectern during most of the House speaking? I’m totally being a DLer because he looked hot behind that mask. During Conor Lamb ‘s speech he got up at one point and looked like he was going to kick some Republican ass when they were cunting off about being called liars and dangerous traitors.

r146. She totally looked like grandma hunting for a butterscotch. I totally give her credit for her stamina and showing up. I was exhausted just watching that shit.

The worst must have been when that shitgibbon Hawley called for the Pennsylvania debate. Things had been really clocking along until then, but you could feel the energy nosedive in the room. McConnell didn't even let them debate: He just went for a straight vote. Nancy let them have their say, which is why things didn't finish up until nearly 4 AM.

Last night revealed many things -about our leaders and our people. Cruz, Hawley, Tuberville, Hyde-Smith, Marshall, Lummis, and Scott tattooed SEDITIONIST on their foreheads. Moscow Mitch proved again his strength in controlling his minions. Through self-preservation, rather than wisdom, he forced most senators to back off, limiting the debate. In the House, Pelosi could not do the same, as the process allowed for debate and there were so many more people who wanted to speak.

Today we need to begin identifying and charging the rioters, and the House needs to open impeachment proceedings. And the Cabinet needs to start working on the 25th Amendment process. Capitol Hill Police who opened doors and took selfies need to be fired immediately, and then charged with sedition.
