When we shame gays that party, aren't we just as sad as they are?

Pretty easy to fight each other instead of dealing with the bigger problems.

NO.

by Anonymousreply 1January 4, 2021 7:48 PM

No OP. It's very straight forward.

by Anonymousreply 2January 4, 2021 7:54 PM

Shame has been missing from our culture for too long. It is effective and necessary when people behave this way without any internal meter.

by Anonymousreply 3January 4, 2021 7:56 PM

Man are you dim, OP.

by Anonymousreply 4January 4, 2021 7:56 PM

WRONG.

by Anonymousreply 5January 4, 2021 8:01 PM

Gays that party are on the side of the angels, IMO. This feardemic needs to end. It will only end of the true freedom-lovers rise up and fight for their right to party, or to go to church, or meet strangers for sex, or to see their grandchildren, whatever.

by Anonymousreply 6January 4, 2021 8:05 PM

I love the ‘related articles’ in OP’s link to nonsense:
Why I got fillers injected in my dick
Why I left Playbill to write about gay porn
Mail Sack: Going for extra credit with my hot professor

Super credible. 🤣

by Anonymousreply 7January 4, 2021 8:08 PM
No OP.

Of course there’s an OP. You responded to it.

by Anonymousreply 8January 4, 2021 8:26 PM

Where does the shame cut off? The nurse who got covid at a circuit party and almost died, posted a go fund me and then had the never to go to another circuit party in PV? The nurse who got the vaccine and posted about how hard life is with everyone dying around them only to post shirtless selfies of him partying in Pv? The drag star who sells masks and preached #stay home #stay safe - who was in pictures partying in PV? Aaron Schock who is just a piece of shit? Let me know what level of asshole we should not shame, I didn't get the handbook.

by Anonymousreply 9January 4, 2021 8:27 PM

What r9 said.

by Anonymousreply 10January 4, 2021 8:30 PM
The nurse who got covid at a circuit party and almost died, posted a go fund me and then had the never to go to another circuit party in PV?

He did?!

That’s fucked up. Does he still have a job?

by Anonymousreply 11January 4, 2021 9:31 PM

R9, don’t forget the NYE Pharmacist.

by Anonymousreply 12January 4, 2021 9:31 PM

Half of the DL responders can't even differentiate between an OP and the linked opinion piece. 3/4 don't bother reading the opinion piece. And yes, the opinion piece is on some shit site. I bothered to read it. It took 2 minutes. It's fairly well written but the argument is contradictory. It's a long assignment of well-deserved shame to dumb ass gay circuit instawhores, but then says the real culprit is institutional failure.

We have several groups of "over Covid" deplorable pleasure seekers. Not just the ciircuit gays. They all deserved a dollop of shame and yes, it's their character, not "institutional failure" to blame.

There has certainly been institutional failure - so we can shame our institutions as well. SHAME ON EVERYONE.

See how easy it is to think in non-binaries. The circuit queens are BAD and so are the rich at REFUGS at Mar a Lago and so is the Trump administration and so are the jet-setting British skiers at Swiss reports. It's not one is OK because another is to blame. They all suck.

by Anonymousreply 13January 4, 2021 11:39 PM

I will leave this here.

Shaming everyone who does it = ok

Only shaming gay men and essentially ignoring everyone else = problem

by Anonymousreply 16January 5, 2021 10:14 AM

I'm pretty much a shut-in but I can understand the mistakes these guys are making. Parties and their bodies have been their center for years. Being hot is their identity and somewhere they know it doesn't last forever. Taken a year off from it must be impossible It's one thing to be stuck at home but another to be stuck at home by yourself when your sense of self is so tied to being on display and being seen. I can't imagine how hard that is. I think what they are doing is wrong but I can sympathize.

Now go ahead. Destroy me for my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 17January 5, 2021 10:21 AM
Pretty easy to fight each other instead of dealing with the bigger problems.

Are you really that stupid that you can't understand these people ARE the bigger problem?

These are called SUPER SPREADER EVENTS.

The same thing that we've been blasting Trump, Deplorables and MAGATS for doing.

And now we're supposed to just ignore that these assholes will catch and/or spread that shit around both Mexico AND the US?

Then when some of them inevitably get sick, they'll return home just to tax an already taxed healthcare system.

These assholes deserve every single fucking big of vitriol directed at them. AND MORE.

by Anonymousreply 18January 5, 2021 10:28 AM

Can you ever forgive us our faults, r13? Oh, please, sir, please.

FOH.

by Anonymousreply 19January 5, 2021 10:48 AM

Does this mean these guys will all be on antidepressants once they’re past their circuit-boi prime? Or maybe something else?

by Anonymousreply 20January 5, 2021 10:54 AM

Also, just how stagnant is this EDM-circuit thing? It’s been the same type of guys, with the same type of tattoos dancing to the same lame techno beat for more than twenty years now. It feels like we’ve been stuck in limbo ever since the year 2000.

by Anonymousreply 21January 5, 2021 10:59 AM
We have several groups of "over Covid" deplorable pleasure seekers. Not just the ciircuit gays. They all deserved a dollop of shame

I get calling out the circuit gays within our own community but I'm not real keen on places like NYT surreptitiously calling them out, or sketchy rightwing IGs calling them out, because this seems like something that should stay within the community. Straights don't get the circuit crowd. Their knee-jerk reactions are to be homophobic about what's going on.

by Anonymousreply 22January 5, 2021 11:03 AM

Isn't OP the guy who started that "drop the t" petition? NOW he cares about the community, after he and his trolls have been posting on DL for years that there is no actual gay community? Pfft.

by Anonymousreply 23January 5, 2021 11:04 AM

Everybody needs to stay at home during the pandemic until it is under control. Not some Americans or those Americans who think it is a good idea or who feel like it. All Americans. Nobody - not one single person actually WANTS to be in lockdown or to have their lives restricted. But it has to be done to get control of the pandemic. It is what a cohesive society does for the good of their fellow countrymen. Why the fuck are we still even discussing this?

So, if nothing else works to get the message through to the selfish who don't care about anyone else but themselves then it seems all that's left is social media shaming.

And as some of them have discovered - it can be very costly because a number of them have lost their jobs, friends etc.

[bold]The moral of the story is that we can't just do whatever we want to do, whenever we want to do it. That's not how a cohesive society works.[/bold]

by Anonymousreply 24January 5, 2021 11:12 AM

From the article:
COVID shaming is missing the point entirely. We are in this nightmare because of vast institutional failures, not partying gays. Blaming individuals shields our horrible leaders from blame. They’ve failed us, and continue to do so. We ended the year with just over 3 million vaccinations. Our original goal was 20 million.

Idiot. We are also in this nightmare because people refuse to wear masks, social distance, and stop living as if COVID doesn't exist -- and go to superspreader events.

by Anonymousreply 25January 5, 2021 11:40 AM
Gays that party are on the side of the angels, IMO. This feardemic needs to end. It will only end of the true freedom-lovers rise up and fight for their right to party, or to go to church, or meet strangers for sex, or to see their grandchildren, whatever.

Wow Natasha, is Boris off tonight? You realize most of us here have no interest in church and don't have grandchildren right? Oh I know you threw in the meet strangers for sex thing because that's what you think all gays do. If I was Putin I would cut your pay.

by Anonymousreply 26January 5, 2021 12:02 PM

OP?

SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.

You're an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 27January 5, 2021 9:56 PM

I think so.

The venom towards them here is a special serving of self-loathing interwoven with all the cattiness that gay men throw at each other and will always throw at each other. Stems from out earliest childhood years when we learned to be shameful of our secret and build up walls of self-protection while hating those like us, because well, society does.

R17 gets it as well.

by Anonymousreply 28January 5, 2021 10:20 PM

Gay men who lead extreme lifestyles often end up in a social bubble. At some point they start to think it’s normal that your whole life should revolve on your body, group sex and heavy drugs. Every once in a while that bubble needs to be snapped, so they have a chance to evaluate their life from a more realistic standpoint.

by Anonymousreply 29January 6, 2021 2:32 PM

If you don't want to be shamed, then keep your life off social media. Easy peasy.

by Anonymousreply 30January 6, 2021 2:35 PM

R30 - exactly. Nobody would know or say anything if they didn't broadcast this info themselves.

If you're going to do something potentially controversial, don't post anything. You CAN live without posting on social media - and your followers won't give two shits.

I'm disgusted at what social media has made grown adult turn into - people should evolve from narcissistic teen and early 20-something 'look at me' posts.

by Anonymousreply 31January 6, 2021 2:42 PM

But not everyone who went to PVR this weekend was on social media. It waa a few choice ones who did that opened the floodgates to all the slut shaming from the DL brigade. It was like they were waiting all their lives for the attack, which we all know is true...

Look at the cruise sinking example. DL queens were quick to call all the "circuit queens" out when they clearly don't know circuit queens couldn't be bothered to go out on an all-day drinking cruise. All that day drinking interferes with the drugs needed to party until 6am.

If most DL shamers knew those cruises were inhabited by mostly 50 year olds from Flyoverstan, they'd be the first to defend them. But they don't

Shame on.

by Anonymousreply 32January 6, 2021 9:04 PM

No, OP, it's pretty straightforward.

We don't want to die because some meth-addicted Mary can't stay away from poppers, cock or meth for a week because "mah freedom!"

by Anonymousreply 33January 6, 2021 9:05 PM

R32 Where they're from, how they party or what they look like is irrelevant.

Muscly circuit queens and fat flyover bears are equally capable of bad decisions and of spreading COVID (among other things)

by Anonymousreply 34January 6, 2021 9:07 PM

OP:

Miss, with all due respect I have my own problems.

by Anonymousreply 35January 6, 2021 9:07 PM

People are openly flouting public health measures, and the government is refusing to fine or prosecute people who endanger others. The only recourse left to the sensible is social pressure, and like it or not, in the modern world social pressure is applied through social media. And for people who are alienated from the mainstream, sometimes the only effective messages are the ones that come from within their own minority community.

Not all "shaming" is bad, when people should be ashamed of themselves for endangering others but aren't, they NEED to be shamed.

by Anonymousreply 36January 6, 2021 9:11 PM

To be honest, what happened today at the Capitol has been a great diversion for those being party shamed.

It's working out very well for them.

by Anonymousreply 37January 6, 2021 9:25 PM

It's the same as when all the fags were denying because of AIDS. If only they weren't so selfish as to do things with each other's butts. Nature's shame is the best shame

Second is that of self-loathing queens.

by Anonymousreply 38January 6, 2021 10:39 PM

Have the returning partiers been quarantined in the camps at the border?

by Anonymousreply 39January 6, 2021 10:54 PM

Fuck you OP. I canceled my trip to PV. I hope the party gays lose their jobs and lose their lives. And I hope they bring back Covid to their parents and kill them too.

by Anonymousreply 40January 6, 2021 10:57 PM

Has Sam Cushing been put in shackles, stripped to the waist and flogged with a sex store cat o’ nine tales yet?

by Anonymousreply 41January 6, 2021 11:05 PM
When we shame gays that party, aren't we just as sad as they are?

No.

by Anonymousreply 42January 6, 2021 11:17 PM

"It's the same as when all the fags were denying because of AIDS"

It actually is, aside from this being a general plague rather than one that targeted gays.

Denial and selfishness are as strong as they were in the 1980s, except that it's everyone now and not just us.
