Died today! RIP SHEENA!!
Charlie’s last angel and Bond girl Tanya Roberts is DEAD TO ME!!!
by Anonymous | reply 240 | January 22, 2021 9:31 AM |
Awww.
Tanya's rep tells TMZ, she was on a walk with her dogs on Christmas Eve and when she returned home she collapsed. She was taken to the hospital and put on a ventilator but never got better. We're told it was NOT COVID-related. Tanya died today.
In the days leading up to her collapse, we're told Tanya appeared perfectly healthy ... even doing video chats for her fans.

Funny, I was just thinking about her.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 4, 2021 1:42 AM |
I always liked her.
Always wondered what happened on That 70s Show where they wrote her character out. Did she quit or was she fired?

Seriously r8, that’s a lot of shit for the first three days of a new year.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 4, 2021 1:48 AM |
She came back for a bit on the show in 2004 r4. Supposedly she was caring for her sick husband but she may have had a drinking problem during that time.
She was the last Charlie’s angel and roger Moore’s last Bond girl.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 4, 2021 1:48 AM |
"A View to a Kill" was the trashiest Bond ever, and I loved it.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 4, 2021 1:49 AM |
Surprisingly, she hadn’t appeared in anything in 15 years. I’ll always remember her as Midge on That 70s Show.

This is another Mary Frann, given ten years or so.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 4, 2021 1:51 AM |
I enjoyed her in Charlie's Angels even though by the time she came along everyone was over it and phoning it in, and she gave it her best. She was also a lot of fun as Midge on That 70s Show. That was really a part she was born to play. Then there were the fun cult movies she was in like Tourist Trap (an underrated, creepy horror film) and Breastmaster.
She was actually 71 years old though (born in 1949) according to New York birth records. She looked younger though and could pull off shaving off some years.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 4, 2021 1:51 AM |
With all the money that she was gaining back then, she determined to acquire a home in 1999. She got this 2,678-square-foot home in Los Angeles that features 4-bed rooms with four washrooms and also supposedly cost her concerning $780K to get. The last time she got on TELEVISION was in 2014 for Britain’s Favourite Detectives docudrama.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 4, 2021 1:52 AM |
Quite big tits, St. Peter.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 4, 2021 1:52 AM |
I remember two things about her. One was that she starred in one of the worst movies of all time "Sheena: Queen of the Jungle." It was a piece of shit but Pauline Kael gave it a good review, which was further proof of how crazy SHE was. Another thing I remember was an appearance she made on The Tonight Show. She came on; Johnny Carson stood up, arms outstretched to greet her and she walked right past him to plant a kiss on Michael Landon, who was also a guest on the show. Carson treated her with thinly veiled contempt for the rest of the show.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 4, 2021 1:55 AM |
She was quite the hottie in her day. I always got a little bit turned on by her.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 4, 2021 1:55 AM |
Surprised she only has 41 credits on IMDB. It felt like she was more prolific.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 4, 2021 1:56 AM |
One of the most annoying Bond girls, ever. As if a geologist would walk around in 4" stilettos at the mine. But the pure cheeze of it makes me laugh.
But very sad, RIP honey.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 4, 2021 1:58 AM |
R23 she was. When you can work little but people still feel you to be a bigger presence, you’re prolific.

by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 4, 2021 2:03 AM |
Her Facebook page is still up with the last Zoom meeting she had with Eldergays. Judging from it, and from an interview on YouTube that was done seven years ago, she seems to have either had cognitive problems and or drink/drug issues. Possibly from the unemployment. Not the world's brightest bean.

R24, I was just listening to a podcast where the hosts were discussing A View to a Kill and they said that in the scene where Tanya comes out dressed in her overalls and Roger Moore quips something like: "Finally found one that fits" or something, that this was completely ad-libbed. The reason being because Tanya Roberts had been holding everyone up, fussing about how the overalls she was wearing weren't flattering her enough. The glare she gives Roger after he says that isn't acting, she's responding to his jibe.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 4, 2021 2:15 AM |

Tanya Robert’s has Collapsed!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 4, 2021 2:21 AM |
R27 She admitted that she and her husband were both big coke users in the 80s and early 90s and blew nearly all the money they made up until that point. They were so broke they almost to the point of needing to sign up for food stamps. Then she became a late night softcore Cinemax/Showtime queen along with Shannon Tweed, before finally getting another break again with That 70s Show, Quite the career trajectory she had.
She was pretty in-demand at conventions too and made money from that in more recent years.

by Anonymous | reply 44 | January 4, 2021 2:24 AM |
I love A View To A Kill. Great sets and Grace Jones fabulous Alaia costumes. Good fun trash.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 4, 2021 2:27 AM |
The best thing about A View to a Kill was Christopher Walken and Grace Jones - they were really fun villains who also were convincingly scary. I remember as a kid seeing that car wash scene and how freaky it was. Despite how campy and trashy the Moore films could be, I thought those two did a great job.
It honestly feels a bit more like a film that should've had Timothy Dalton as Bond though.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 4, 2021 2:30 AM |
R44, I think by "the last angel in" R32 meant the last actress cast as an angel on the show, which was Tanya. ("The first angel out" was a reference to Farrah, who was the first to leave the show.)
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 4, 2021 2:33 AM |

As per her wiki:
On Christmas Eve (December 24) 2020, Roberts collapsed suddenly after returning home from a walk. She was taken to a hospital but passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021

In the early to mid 80s seemed to be on the edge of breaking out as a star, but never could do it. I mean she wasn’t the most talented actress, but Charlie’s angels and the bond movie were huge breaks for her.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | January 4, 2021 4:24 AM |
From comments I read on Facebook, there’s speculation that it was drug related. Someone added that they worked with her on a movie or series and she was known for being a pillhead.
Who was the other actress from That 70s Show to die?
Tourist Trap is such a great, creepy, bizarre nightmare of a movie, for anyone who loves 70s horror but hasn’t seen that one.

I love View to a Kill. It is absolute trash, but Tanya is lovely, Grace is gorgeous, Roger is fun, there are some fun zingers, Walken is actually scary, there is plenty of architectural eye-candy (those stables in France! San Francisco City Hall! Tanya's bizarre Greek Revival mansion!) and the bad parts are so bad they're good - it also has one of the best Bond film scores ever.
The scream she gives out when the elevator collapses in the city hall scene was evidently not fake. She was feeling the heat of the fire and was genuinely panicking.
It makes me sad to know she's gone. She seemed like a sweetheart.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | January 4, 2021 5:34 AM |
R104 - excellent! I wish they had given a bit more for Alison and Papillon to do in the movie, but their presence was still felt in every scene they were in.
Honestly, I know there is a lot to criticise with A View to a Kill, but it also did just as many things right too; the casting of the bad guys, Patrick Macnee, and personally I don't think Tanya Roberts was that bad, even though she clearly forgets her lines in parts. I have a particular fondness for it as it was my first James Bond ever, think I was about 8 or 9 when I saw it (my dad wanted me to stay up and watch it with him as he was a Bond fan too). I remember being so freaked out by that butterfly scene at that age.

Roberts played a scantily-clad bombshell in the adventure fantasy film The Beastmaster (1982). I was born in the 80s and this is the film role I’ve always remembered her for.
It’s bizarre that’s she’s dead - while most of the older-generation actors from That 70s Show are still alive. Kurtwood Smith, 77 (a.k.a. Red Foster) is still around & kickin’.
I’m also surprised that Debra Rupp, 69 (Kitty Forman) and Don Stark, 66 (Bob Pinciotti) are almost the same age as Roberts was (65). I initially thought she was much younger than Stark and played an air-headed trophy wife - but turns out they’re almost the same age.

It was considerate of the costume department to give her a skirt that just about barely covered her crotch in that film.
I can imagine multiple fittings where they're saying, "No, really, I think we can get away with taking another eighth of an inch off. Tanya, do you mind?"
by Anonymous | reply 145 | January 4, 2021 1:47 PM |
Actually, her husband probably suggested her costume cut. When Nolan Miller came to their house to discuss her Charlie's Angels wardrobe, her husband suggested she disrobe to show Miller her body.

It was a big deal when she did the Playboy spread for Sheena. It got tons of publicity for her.
I was always fascinated when a major star would agree to do a spread for Playboy, like Joan Collins, Farrah Fawcett and LaToya Jackson. As a kid, stuff like Playboy, Playgirl, porn, stripping and prostitution fascinated me. I thought it was so glamorous and exciting. I remember wanting to be a Chippendales stripper when I was in high school. What was wrong with me?

R127 The least impressive Angel, I'm afraid. The original triumvirate of KateJaclynFarrah could never be bettered, though KateJaclynCheryl did come close on occasion. Still, RIP.
With two down, the remaining angels need to reunite to catch the killer. Which could be next?? I see it set in Aspen or Lake Tahoe so there can be downhill ski chases.
Actually, I wouldn’t put it past The Hack to pull a murder like Tanya’s, in hopes of a career resurgence. Someone needs to look into that 👀

Boy, this really shows how old I am: I never would've imagined any obit of Tanya Roberts would begin with anything other than "Charlie's Angels" but it's listed like 3rd or 4th down the line after Bond and 70's Show. While I knew she had done those things, I still thought she was best known for having been one of the Angels.
by Anonymous | reply 170 | January 4, 2021 6:02 PM |

I've never heard of her - I've never seen Charlie's Angels or That 70s Show - but it's always freaky when a seemingly healthy person just drops like that.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | January 4, 2021 7:17 PM |
R170, I thought the same thing. CHARLIE’S ANGELS isn’t even mentioned in some of her obituaries. That was what put her on the map, regardless of whether her run was considered successful or not. It was still a big deal at the time. While THAT 70s SHOW was her last major credit she wasn’t the star of the series.
I still can’t believe she died. She looked so healthy and 65 is young.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | January 4, 2021 8:17 PM |
Some kids who prepare obituaries for online sources today really have zero recollection regarding tv Charlie’s Angels. They would have never correlated Tanya with CA.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | January 4, 2021 8:32 PM |
I'm in my forties and I've never seen Charlie's Angels. It was before my time and I've never cared to watch reruns of it. I don't know anyone in my peer group who's really been into it.
Funnily enough, Wonder Woman is a different story. We all love that show.

Agreed. Even if they've never seen it, I'd imagine most young people are at least aware of the old show if only because they know it was the basis for all of the CA movies from the last few years, the most recent of which was the Kristen Stewart one from two years ago.

Sounds like she's still in the hospital, though. If she's still on a respirator, as reported before, things can't be going too well for her. But she's still alive right now, so there's maybe some hope for her recovery.

It's not a resurrection. It's more of a "put it in the fridge and wait until it gets moldy and then throw it out" thing.

[quote] The Kristen Stewart CA movie flopped hard.
The film's production values were good to top notch but the film was still atrocious. I can't understand how anyone at the studio greenlighted the awful script. The film was trying so hard to be a feminist manifesto that it turned into a total joke. Elisabeth Banks, who wrote and directed it, took a big dump on the legacy of the whole Angels lore. She did a great job with Pitch Perfect 2 which is why it was so surprising to see how tone deaf she was with the Angels. Well, she probably killed the whole franchise with that flop.
The actors would've probably been sort of OK with a proper script and a capable director, although after having just seen Kristen Stewart in equally atrocious Underwater it's pretty clear she can rarely carry a film.

At least Jaclyn Smith had the decency to post a statement on social media:
“Tanya joined Charlies Angels for the final season, closing it out as it was initially intended with a red head, a brunette and a blonde. She brought joy to so many people and had a career spanning decades. Good bye angel, Rest In Peace.”
