What a boring name for an actor. She’s dead I guess.
She's been dead for twenty two years, fella. She had a heart attack in her sleep and found her dead in her bed. Now get off my porch. I don't want people coming here unless they're sent to me by somebody I know.

So what’s the back story? Drugs? It seems really unusual for a woman that young to die in her sleep of a heart attack.

Fran Murray would’ve been spicier.

Was she the GF of Jane Eliot or Diedre Hall?

r2 She was about to be married and was using diet pills to lose weight for the wedding. An autopsy also found she suffered from an undiagnosed scarring of the heart muscle tissue.
She was only 55.

Did Diedre know?

I thought she died of AIDS.

She was good friends with the Hollywood blonde set - Joan Van Ark,. Susan Blakely, Loni etc. I remember her as the bitchy D.B. Bentley on the daytime Peyton Place, and before that as Mary's bitchy tennis pal who didn't like Jewish Rhoda. She was actually good friends with Valerie Harper, they'd been in improv together. She bored me as silly brain tumored Amanda on Days of Our Lives. Terrific as the underutilized Joanna on Newhart.

But Mary Frann? How dull a name can u get?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 2, 2021 11:43 PM |
Bob Newhart thought she was annoying.

Newhart is a dry old fuck too

R8: Was she in the episode where she owed Mary some money, and kept telling Mary to just “remind her” (following a tennis game ), and she would pay her back.
At the end of the episode, Mary’s nice retort was,”Umm, I AM reminding you.”

Except for the time Bob had to tell her the name of the show was "NEWHEART," and her Diva attitude could be replaced . Never heard anything bad about her . She certainly was No Loni or Susan Dey. Why All the hate . Always thought she was Delightful . (Alright she was NO Suzanne Pleshette .)

I saw an interview at the time where Julia Duffy threw some shade and said Mary should be playing her role.

[quote]She had a heart attack in her sleep and found her dead in her bed.
So she has a heart attack while asleep, and she still manages to find some unidentified female corpse in her bed? Shit, talk about a bad night!

I THINK Frann gave Valerie or the MTM writers the line Rhoda had in the second episode about not eating chocolate, but just applying it to her hips.
I wonder how she felt about Suzanne Pleshette stealing the show in the Newhart finale.

"Bob Newhart thought she was annoying."
That's because she was banging Diedre and couldn't fake interest in him.

She was one of Johnny Carson's girls.
She's cooler than you could imagine, name regardless.

I was watching an episode of "Cannon" last night and Mary Frann was one of the guest stars, along with Dick Van Patten.
