If the Dems Win These Georgia Senate Races, Stacey Abrams Will Be a Shoo-in for Governor in 2022

Having her on the ballot in 2022 helps keep Georgia blue, and having her as Governor will help secure those electoral votes in the 2024 presidential election.

Biden will announce her as his AG on January 6.

by Anonymousreply 1January 2, 2021 8:40 PM

We need to keep her in Georgia.

by Anonymousreply 2January 2, 2021 8:46 PM

Dems aren’t going to win those seats in Georgia, sadly.

by Anonymousreply 3January 2, 2021 8:50 PM

What R3 said. If any elections are rigged, it’s those. No way rethugs will let this happen.

by Anonymousreply 4January 2, 2021 8:51 PM

No one thought Georgia would flip for Biden back in November, but it did. That and coupled with Trump saying that these Georgia Senate races are "illegal and invalid " give me hope both seats will flip to the Democrats

by Anonymousreply 5January 2, 2021 8:55 PM

[quote] Stacey Abrams Will Be a Shoo-in for Governor in 2022

That fear alone will make Georgians vote for the Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 6January 2, 2021 8:56 PM

What the hell, R4? How did Joe Biden win Georgia if it was a matter of who the Republicans will let win?

by Anonymousreply 7January 2, 2021 8:57 PM

I think one of these senators has to run again in 2022. They’re not both getting six year terms. I believe it’s the winner of the Warnock/Loeffler race who would have to run again in two years.

by Anonymousreply 8January 2, 2021 9:00 PM

I daren’t hope.

Why does this fat ugly loser get so much media attention?

by Anonymousreply 11January 4, 2021 11:16 AM

Boris's demonization of Stacey Abrams because of her race, weight and gender only works on the fringe base of Deplorables who would never vote for her in a million years.

It's not enough to maintain power for Republican crooks, Boris. Try harder.

by Anonymousreply 12January 4, 2021 11:17 AM

R12 I forgot. Democrats never attack people based on their race, weight and gender. LMAO!

^^Fat, old, white, criminal republicans don't count

by Anonymousreply 14January 4, 2021 11:22 AM

Since Trump's little phone call to the Georgia SoS Saturday begging to rig the election, all bets are off

by Anonymousreply 15January 4, 2021 11:24 AM

I guess those on here who go on about how fat Mariah and Janet are are deplorables too.

by Anonymousreply 16January 4, 2021 11:28 AM

I like Stacey, she doesn’t really play the identity politics game too cynically (unlike Kamala Harris). Also she doesn’t seem up herself and is evidently competent. She can get $20 from me if she does stand again.

by Anonymousreply 17January 4, 2021 11:33 AM

I think Stacey Abrams is amazing!

by Anonymousreply 18January 4, 2021 11:42 AM

R18 Why? Because she's a black Democrat?

by Anonymousreply 19January 4, 2021 11:48 AM

R19

Have you been asleep the past 4 months?

by Anonymousreply 20January 4, 2021 11:51 AM

R19 types stupid!

by Anonymousreply 21January 4, 2021 11:56 AM

What she has done for Georgia is the best thing any politician has done in a while. She is phenomenal and anyone saying otherwise is a conservative asshat.

by Anonymousreply 22January 4, 2021 11:58 AM

I'm not sure she'll get the Democratic nomination in Georgia again, quite frankly. I grew up there and regardless of who you are (black, white, purple), you very rarely get a second chance at an election that big. One of my middle school friends' fathers ran for a state rep position after he'd been county commissioner. He lost and then ran for a state senate seat. He lost and then tried to run for county commissioner again. He didn't even get the nomination and has laid low ever since. At some point, there's more power in being, say, the Democratic party chair of GA. If Stacey were going to run for something, she should've run in one of the Senate races and she'd probably--and quite literally--be elected a senator tomorrow. She held out too long for the veep nom that never happened.

by Anonymousreply 23January 4, 2021 11:59 AM

She just needs to be very careful because the enraged GOP will throw everything they can at her, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 24January 4, 2021 12:05 PM

I certainly agree with your latter point, R23—I’d feel much better about our chances tomorrow if it were Stacey Abrams and Jon Ossof on the ticket instead of Raphael Warnock. But I still think the Gov nom is hers if she wants it (and she undoubtedly does).

by Anonymousreply 25January 4, 2021 12:07 PM

An Abrams / Ossoff Senate ticket seems stronger right now, but this is because of Stacey's efforts turning GA blue for the presidential election. So in essence, I am glad she did not gun for that senate seat.

I think she would be terrific as DNC chair. I would love to see her apply what her organization is doing in GA nationwide (accounting for state/regional differences of course).

by Anonymousreply 26January 4, 2021 12:14 PM

I didn't like her very public thirst for the VP nomination, but she worked her ass off to win Georgia. She gets something good out of this; let's see.

by Anonymousreply 27January 4, 2021 12:15 PM

Metropolitan Atlanta comprises more than half the population of the state of Georgia. The demographics are ever changing due to the constant massive growth from people moving in from outside the state and outside the south. As a lifelong Georgian of 67 years I can attest to one thing. Never assume things will stay the same here because they won't.

by Anonymousreply 28January 4, 2021 12:27 PM

Yeah, a Senate run would’ve taken away from her work to get voters out.

by Anonymousreply 29January 4, 2021 12:34 PM

Weight Watchers on line 3.

by Anonymousreply 30January 4, 2021 12:42 PM

And that, R30, is the answer to how Stacey Abrams earned the enmity of DL: her waistline.

by Anonymousreply 31January 4, 2021 5:35 PM

There's a special place in hell for people like the OP, who use positions from the privileged majority to harass, bully and denigrate the less fortunate.

I believe it involves being chained to a volcano beneath Nell Carter's butt cheeks, forced to rim her crack for eternity.

People like Stacey Abrams have been excluded from jobs, money and education their entire lives by the White Boys Club simply because of their race or gender. They can't afford to shop at Whole Foods. Yet the OP punches down on the less fortunate for access to the White Boys Club.

It's a pity the White Boys Club threw him out and he's now $4 million in debt, forced to troll like a chickenshit on an anonymous forum that doesn't pay him because every respectable platform has banned his ass.

by Anonymousreply 32January 4, 2021 6:58 PM

Stacey Abrams doesn't intentionally hurt people.

Donald Trump does.

Donald Trump invited and deserves every manner of excoriation, from the dictators he shits his pants in front of to Dancing with Dictators in the first place. Rot in hell, r13.

by Anonymousreply 33January 4, 2021 6:59 PM

OP, I think you're right. I want either one of the two to win to ensure stability (i.e. gridlock), but yes, if both Dems win, she'll be in a great position to be governor.

by Anonymousreply 34January 4, 2021 7:02 PM

I liked Stacey when she was running for the Governor's office and supported her two / three years ago.

However, and maybe I'm wrong in my recollection, I seem to remember Stacey being the first politician to aggressively challenge an election result. Stacey came close, but didn't win the gubernatorial election, and I thought she dragged on her challenge a little too long. Didn't her challenge go on for a month.

She complained, she whined, she said the election was rigged and fraudulent. In my opinion, Stacey was the politician to open the door for overt overly long challenges to election results.

I hope she does run for and wins the Governor's office, but I'm not as much of a fan as I was a few years ago.

by Anonymousreply 35January 4, 2021 7:09 PM

Stacey Abrams is a whipping post for Boris on DL. Read the history of Stacey Abrams threads. Read r13.
