Thank the maker. Can they take the current Doctor with them and bring back a conjoined twin version of David Tennant and Matt Smith?

by Anonymousreply 5January 2, 2021 5:55 AM

Make Ruth Clayton the next Doctor after Jodie even though her version of the character is supposed to precede the 13th Doctor.

by Anonymousreply 6January 2, 2021 5:59 AM

tennant and smith with double dicks so it could dp you.

Doctor Who is do desperate to be woke now, it used to be fun but now it's just cringe with a desperation to please a minority of the population, while the writers pat themselves on the back and smell their own farts.

by Anonymousreply 8January 2, 2021 11:47 AM

R8 agreed, unforunately.

by Anonymousreply 9January 2, 2021 12:13 PM

So, this Special was anything but, wasn't it? RTD excelled in including lots of emotional punch (Schmalz?) into his stories, Moffat excelled in intricate (overdone?) plots. Chibnall stripped out both. Is there anything left? I'm surprised that the BBC let him get away with his slowly killing off this once hot property. Surely they must be panicking. What's the chatter?

by Anonymousreply 10January 3, 2021 2:52 PM

The biggest problem Chibnall had in his first season was that he made a too drastic cut from the Who-universe to create his own. Nothing felt familiar. Once he let familiar villains and companions (like Captain Jack) return it was great again.

I wasn't sad to see Graham, and especially Ryan, leave. Graham, I liked, but honestly, this group of companions are lackluster, and don't belong in the group of New Series companions. They aren't fit to lick the soles of Donna Noble's shoes.

Apparently, John Bishop will be joining on as a companion for the next series hopefully he will bring some life back to the show.

I don't hate Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor (but I DO hate it when she refers to the companions as her "fam,") I think she got saddled with dull companions, and there was no through line from previous seasons to help with the transition. I prefer it when an existing companion carries over with a new Doctor, even if only briefly. I would have loved Bill to stay on for a while, or even Nardole.

by Anonymousreply 12January 3, 2021 3:10 PM

Of all the options he had, Jack was hitting on Graham. That was cute.

by Anonymousreply 13January 3, 2021 3:57 PM

I never thought I would say this, but I miss Moffitt. Chibnall is awful, and Broadchurch was so overrated.

Oh so do I with an intense passion. I’ve posted that on Doctor Who threads here ever since she became the Doctor.

by Anonymousreply 15January 3, 2021 6:02 PM

It was awful. Just endlessly stupid.

by Anonymousreply 16January 3, 2021 6:04 PM

Jodie is out as the Doc, bet the next one is a black guy or trans.

by Anonymousreply 17January 3, 2021 10:15 PM

Not surprised she is leaving, no-one but Tennant has stayed for more than three series since the show came back. I'd like a new show runner for 14 as well

by Anonymousreply 18January 3, 2021 10:19 PM

^ Oh honey, the universe does. All those polemic stories EEEEK
