Lauren Graham must HATE Melissa McCarthy, right?
Graham was wonderful as the lead on GILMORE GIRLS, and McCarthy was a great supporting character.
Since the show folded, McCarthy has scored two Oscar nominations, made big box office hits, is considered one of the nicest celebrities in the business, and is in constant demand.
Graham, on the other hand, has been revealed to be a huge cunt to fans and extras, and is now a supporting character on a middling network series.
She must LOATHE Melissa.

Yeah, she probably does. But the tragedy of it for her is that nobody cares.

Because I was never a GG fan, Lauren Graham has always been kind of inexplicable to me. I remember seeing her on PARENTHOOD and now ZOE'S PLAYLIST (or whatever) and thinking she always plays these angry, charmless characters. She's not ugly, but no great beauty either--was she considered "hot" on GG?

I never knew Lauren Graham was that big of a cunt

I always figured Jenny McCarthy must hate Melissa. She was the one who gave her a big break when she let her work on her crappy show on MTV. Then when Melissa made it big after Bridesmaids I bet ol plastic tiddies was green with envy. She was probably thinking that she is pretty and thin, she should be the famous one and not her fat cousin.

Graham could have gotten away with being a cunt had she not shown it so often in interviews. I remember one or two interviews for Evan Almighty being posted here on DL and she was complaining bitterly in both of them.
She also derailed the whole storyline of GG because she didn't like Scott Patterson, which is probably justified, but people don't like working with actors who are going to cause that big of a fuss. There are other ways to deal with bad coworkers besides forcing the show to make stupid writing choices.

I thought Jenny wouldn't help Melissa and was kind of a bitch about her weight

I’ve heard from former Parenthood crew members that Lauren Graham is great to work with. That was ten years after GG so maybe she was a cunt when she first got famous?
Either way, Melissa McCarthy rules.

Graham shouldn't be selfish. McCarthy has surpassed her for sure, but Graham gets to sleep with Peter Krause every night.
You can't have everything.

Not as much as Lauren would have hated it if Scott Patterson had become a movie star.

Well, Jenny was/is thin, anyway. So there's that.
Melissa has more comic and dramatic talent in her pinky than Jenny will ever possess. The fact that Jenny is still "a thing" at all over the years is shocking.

The industry is very random. Lauren Graham may have been a bitch on ‘Gilmore Girls,’ but the business is full of assholes; wasn’t Helen Hunt known to be a nightmare on ‘Mad About You?’
She’s about the same age as Graham, less talented and attractive, but did make it inexplicably big for a few years.
LG’s current career slump may be due to her not aging particularly well. At times, she looks like a brunette Amy Schumer.

She's definitely put on some post menopausal weight (but who hasn't?). I never thought she was a raving beauty and could be really irritating on GG. Plus her hair was SOOOO bad on that show, especially the hair extension years.

I loved the Gilmore Girls. I've watched it back and it doesn't hold up as well as I'd hoped. The limited series reboot on Netflix was an utter disaster. That's the last thing the show needed after it went down the shitter in its last two years and had a not-so-memorable series finale.
When I watch the series back, I trace its decline to the addition of the character Jess played by Milo Ventimiglia. From then on they insisted that the grounded, sensible Rory always fall for the bad boy. Logan was next. I found that change in her character very annoying.
I've heard that Lauren Graham felt strongly that the character of Lorelei should end up with her ex-husband, and Rory's father, Christopher. Almost every fan I knew wanted her with Luke. Christopher was a spoiled, impulsive baby who refused to grow up. Luke was the stable guy who would always be there for you. I hate when actors think they know better where their characters should go when it's so obvious from a fan standpoint that's not the right direction.
I love Melissa McCarthy. I'm glad her talent was recognized. I used to tell my ex she was one of the best things on the Gilmore Girls series.

Melissa McCarthy stole every scene she was in. The amount of dialogue that Lauren Graham had to learn was incredible. But that's what I liked about it. You had to listen carefully but there were some gems in there. Some of the characters were annoying but they were meant to be. I wasn't a fan of Luke. I didn't think the character of Lorelai should have ever married. She declared her independence as a teen and marriage just didn't fit her character. She was meant to be alone. Dating - but taking life on by herself. I also liked most anything Paris said.
That's the thing. It was really a different show than the typical tv show back then.

Rewatching Gilmore Girls, you realize what a smug little ninny Rory is and that Lorelei is basically a slurry of cliched Gen X affectations (“I hate my parents because...reasons...but I love sarcasm, coffee and Turner Classic Movies!) Emily is the only Gilmore Girl that counts for anything in my books.

r26 Funny in the end Rory who used to be a promising intelligent girl in the series crawled back to Stars Hollow jobless and pregnant to repeat the same cycle as her mother who is also remain in the same town doing the same thing.
Yet Emily the supposedly stuck-up WASP old woman moved out of her home, left her DAR and become a guide in a museum. She really have the best character development among all the Gilmore girls.

In the early years of the show, Lauren Graham was cute and perky and I really liked her. As the show went on, however, her character started to grate on me. Paris, OTOH, was a wonderful character who stole every scene she was in and was deserving of an Emmy for her performance.

Was anyone here on the GG boards on TWOP?
Do you remember how a bunch of those ladies were plotting to take a studio tour, get off the bus at the Stars Hollow set during filming, then wander onto the set to be extras? They got the idea into their heads that extras were simply people found randomly here and there and anyone could do it.
I got banned almost permanently because I said that's not how extras worked. That Miss Allie or however you spell her name banned me and sent me a cunty message saying I didn't know anything about filming and I was probably wrong.
I only got unbanned because I replied back with links to my memberships in several mid-level film writing organizations and my published articles showing that yeah I did in fact know what the fuck I was talking about, and that if anyone involved in the show found out TWOP was encouraging these ladies to thwart studio security to hassle the cast and crew, they would not be pleased.
Suddenly my account came back and those ladies stopped plotting to sneak onto the set.
Years later I happened to see Miss Allie on Twitter had preemptively blocked me, which gave me a good laugh.

I've always loved MM and will watch her in just about anything. She did some good movies but also some terrible ones. Yet I just could not watch her in Mike + Mollie. She just looked bored by it all and she did not have her usual spark in that show. I thought that having a morbidly obese man (Billy Gardell) as her leading man certainly did not help. He must be one of the most unappealing actor to have a staring role in a sitcom in recent memories.

Sally Struthers and Rose Abdoo became best buds on Gilmore Girls (which I love and makes me laugh) and we're friends with Rose.
Word on the set was that Lauren was very territorial in her professional life and not very approachable. Melissa's storyline was getting too much attention and Lauren bristled at that, so there was tension when the show ended. Flash forward to the reboot and the power-career dynamic had changed completely and the showrunners did not think they could get Melissa back. She didn't want to do it, but realized she HAD to so there is this half-hearted bit shoe-horned near the end of the run. You can see no love lost between Suky and Lorelei in their scenes.
