Jeffrey - 1995

This film is better the second or third time around. At the time it was released, I found it difficult to watch, as funny as it was. There was a lot of sadness too close to the surface.

Michael Tina Weiss.

It's free on Prime and I forgot how campy and fun it is. Bryan Batt and Patrick Stewart are a riot. Plus, since it's a NY movie, it's fun to see the local talent cast in bit parts. Michael Musto is a background player in the Christine Baranski hoedown scene. Gerri from Succession is a sex addict. It's nice to watch a movie that doesn't take itself so seriously.

The play was a lot better, mostly because of the brilliant and hilarious performance of Harriet Harris, playing all the women's roles.

Sigourney Weaver, Nathan Lane, Kathy Najimy, Olympia Dukakis, Camryn Manheim...an all star cast!

I saw this on the stage with Greg Louganis in a supporting role.

My thought at the time?

He should stick to diving.

R3 I *so* wish I could have seen Harriet as DEBRA!

Wow, I forgot how emotionally unstable Jeffrey was. How does this guy have any friends or romantic interests?

Michael T. Weiss’ work output in film/tv seems to have dropped off the past decade.

I really liked Michael T Weiss, in this and especially in The Pretender. If he did have a chemical problem, I think he has overcome it, but he doesn’t seem to have had any big work after Pretender. That is too bad as he was certainly attractive and talented but I guess ex Soap hunks are a dime a dozen.

I enjoyed it but IMO, Steven Weber was miscast. Either that or the character. I couldn't even imagine dating someone like that, who can't stop worrying about everything.

Thanks for the reminder, OP. I put it on my watch list in Prime.
