Weren't they supposed to be good for your back? I sublet an apartment with a water bed after my first year in college. It was one with a very large and heavy woods frame. It didn't hurt my back, but I don't think it had the wave control of some models. And it was hard to get in and out of.

If there is no wave control I think it’s called “full flow”. I purchased a full flow water bed after sleeping on one at a friends house. I was in my 20s. I liked it because you could heat up the water in the winter time and it was very comfortable. When you heat up the water it also helps relax your back muscles. In the summertime you can decrease the heat level and it would keep you cool. But it was difficult to get in and out of. And trying to sleep while drunk with the spins in a water bed is no fun at all!

I stayed with a friend who had one in the guest bedroom. Never saw the appeal.

I had one and loved it, but it used to “sweat” because of my body heat.

I recently switched back to a spring mattress from a foam and I'll never go back again.
