What do they put in this stuff? Crack?
My cat is always begging for Temptations Treats

Yes. Kitty crack!

My boys like feline Greenies too. These are healthier supposedly. I also use a small dog treat feeder for them. It looks like a little purple spaceship. The cat treat feeders are flimsy and lame.

yes, my cats demand these treats, if i am out of them, my one cat will not shut up meowing. they like the tempting tuna and savory chicken flavors

My cat figured out where I put the bag (top shelf), and somehow managed to open the cupboard door, get on the shelf and open the bag... so yes, probably

My cat has your cat beat: she knows how to log on to my Amazon account, order a supply, sign for delivery, and invite neighbor kitties over for a Temptation tea party.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 29, 2020 3:51 AM |
Same here OP. These treats are the only ones my two cats like. One of them pats my arm when she wants her treats.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 29, 2020 3:53 AM |
They're filled with by-products and corn.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 29, 2020 3:54 AM |
I started buying these several years ago when one of my cats had hairball problems. They worked, and I’ve been buying them ever since.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 29, 2020 3:57 AM |
Temptations are the only thing my cat will eat for the most part. I regret ever giving her one. What can I do to break the habit? She is so angry without them. I tried mixing them with her regular dry food thinking she would eat the entire bowl but doesn't. What can I do?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 29, 2020 4:03 AM |
R9 how old is your cat? It's harder the older they get.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 29, 2020 4:08 AM |
My long ago cat used to be a whore for Pounce treats. They came in a little paper can with a lid that made a sound when shaken that would cause my cat to tear into the room at racer's speed. Useful if she was hiding somewhere and I wanted her to come. They smelled like STANK, probably made from organ meat scraps.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 29, 2020 4:08 AM |
I tried healthier treats that my vet recommended and my cats didn’t want any part of it, R9. Same with wet food. They like Fancy Feast which two separate vets did call “kitty crack”.
Cats are stubborn. They want what they want when they want it.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 29, 2020 4:09 AM |
Here is the purple spaceship treat feeder. It took 5 mins for them to figure out. So fun to watch them flip it around! Walmart sells it.

My cat, the Temptations junkie, is 12. She was a rescue taht I ahve had for about 3 years. She ate regular dry food at one point but didn't seem to enjoy that much. I gave her a temptaion and the rest is history. i feel like I am poisoning her. What can I do?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 29, 2020 4:13 AM |
I had a cat that was obsessed with temptations. I just never let the cats I had after him try them because I knew they’d be addicted to.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 29, 2020 4:14 AM |
[quote]What do they put in this stuff? Crack?
OP, how did you guess?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 29, 2020 4:15 AM |
Greenies are healthier treats. Try mixing with Temptations to start to do the switcheroo, whichever treat you go with.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 29, 2020 4:16 AM |
The Greenie dental health is the one to try?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 29, 2020 4:17 AM |
Freeze dried treats. Try different flavors. Buy a fancy kibble like Orijen and feed them like treats. Be calm and firm on no more Temptations. I found when I worked at a pet food store it was usually the high strung owners projecting onto their pets these impossible standards.

One cat of mine who loved these lived to be 21 and his sister who loved them as well, lived to be 18.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 29, 2020 4:22 AM |
That is the thing. My cat the temptations whore is very, very healthy. She has a beautiful coat too. I wonder if I should just let her have her crack.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 29, 2020 4:24 AM |
Mine too OP! And the way he goes crazy for them makes me worry.
But so far none of us can say for sure why they are addictive or if there’s anything harmful in them.
I was wondering if the secret ingredient might be MSG. Maybe they don’t bother to season the regular food?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 29, 2020 4:38 AM |
My cat is 22. He gets all the treats he wants! Temptations and Greenies mixed together!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 29, 2020 4:44 AM |
It's just as delicious to your cat as processed garbage food is to fat humans.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 29, 2020 5:12 AM |
Your cat is begging for premature kidney and liver failure too, OP. I don't believe anyone who feeds this shit to their cats and they live to die at 20-22 years, they are self-deluding.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 29, 2020 5:31 AM |
Of my 4 cats, only one seems to love Temptations. Fortunately, he's not a big eater and not very food-motivated overall, so although he loves them, he's fine without them.
My kitty that passed away earlier this year, would eat an entire bag in one sitting if I let him. I have one of those Friskies roly-poly treat-dispensing toys, and he could pretty much empty it out overnight by himself. I would hear him playing with it in the kitchen all night. He was a fat whore, just like me!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 29, 2020 5:31 AM |
Yes, I’m self-deluding R25. You and you alone know what I fed my cats who lived to be 21 and 18.
Idiot
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 29, 2020 5:38 AM |
Yes it's kitty crack, my cat kicks up a fuss for them too. When we fill her bowl with food we put three temptations on top, if we forget the treats she let's us know very loudly and stands there looking at us like we're stupid. Fortunately she does eat her cat food, but they must do something to them to make them so irresistible.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 29, 2020 5:44 AM |
I wouldn't give Greenies to any pet. I know that the Greenies for dogs can break apart and get stuck in their intestines. Greenies have killed dogs. Not just the green toothbrush-shaped ones either. The brown Greenies that are shaped liked peanuts are dangerous too. Cat Greenies might be dangerous too.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 29, 2020 5:56 AM |
Is your cat a lesbian, OP? Or perhaps Keith Raniere?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 29, 2020 5:59 AM |
When Amazon has them on sale for 4- 5 bucks I stock up like a bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 29, 2020 6:04 AM |
My cat does too. My dog used to whine for Beggin Strips. It’s was ridiculous. He would cry and follow me around like a fiend. Eventually I had to ween him off of the stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 29, 2020 6:10 AM |
It really is horrible how Greenies are marketed as healthy treats to unsuspecting pet owners. I don't blame people for wanting to spoil their pets a little, and then before they know it their pets are little junkies. Another option is Feliway which is synthetic cat pheromones, it makes them feel happy. Maybe happy enough to try a new treat.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 29, 2020 6:13 AM |
I'm in the same boat. In fact, my cat is head-bumping me at this very moment, which is her message telling me that she wants her nightly treat.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 29, 2020 6:46 AM |
I’ve never been able to sell a cat on anything with the consistency of playdough. There has to be a crunch. Veggie straws were a hit for one minute until we all figured out it’s just potato.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 29, 2020 6:54 AM |
My cat gets PISSED and slaps things off my desk and nightstand if his bowl has no temptations ( the fishy ones are his preference and they stink) Also dogs LOVE them as well ,can’t leave the cat bowl on the floor.

Why do my cats like TEMPTATIONS® so much?
Our TEMPTATIONS® treats are basted with a double basting of digest, which is a flavouring that cats love! Animal Digest is a flavour ingredient made by reacting animal byproducts such as liver, under specific conditions of temperature and pH, in some cases with the addition of enzymes and sometimes using the enzymes already present in the meat, for a given length of time. This results in break down of the protein into short strings of amino acids, the building blocks for proteins, which have very consistent flavours of their own.
So, sounds similar to MSG, if this is indeed the reason. Like flavored chips for us?

My cats want Temptations all the time so I started putting Meow Mix Tender Centers in the Temptations box and giving them 5-10 pieces as a treat instead. They seem very happy with it. They get fed wet food and grain-free dry food for their regular meals.
R14, try wet food mixed with water and baby food. My cats can be finicky but now I add a jar of beef, chicken, or turkey baby food to their wet food, and they're crazy for it. I pre-mix a couple of days worth at a time: In a good sized container I mix three cans of wet food (same flavor) with a can and a half (to two cans, depending how thick the food is, if it's pate rather than shreds) of water and a jar of baby food to make a "gravy". If I'm mixing a chicken based wet food I'll use chicken baby food; if beef, I use beef baby food, same with turkey. Most seafood flavors contain chicken so I use chicken baby food for those.
Wet food is better for your cats than dry food. Also, adding water to the wet food is good because many cats don't get enough water every day.

My cat loved them as well till I bought six packets to avoid running out . . . and he immediately turned up his nose at them. He was a real shit. I miss him.

OMG that's my cat's favorite snack too. She loves it.

Wouldn’t your viral marketing techniques be better suited to forums for lesbians or librarians?

R41, Wouldn’t your responses best be made well, never?
Getting tired of the influx of “I’m the smartest one in the room” posters who lack wit and the ability to contribute anything of substance.

I give my guy some at 8:30PM, sort of a bedtime snack treat.
Last night, I was preoccupied with something and at 8:35PM, my guy came in to remind me it was treat time.

Thanks to this thread I know never to get my cat hooked on Temptation Treats.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | December 29, 2020 5:22 PM |
My cat gets crusty build up around her eyes which I clean for her nightly. She doesn’t put up a fuss now because she knows she gets a Temptation treat as a reward.
I use the same trick for getting her off the roof of the house but now she knows just to climb up there if she wants a treat.
God I love her.

I just got a 9 wk old kitten. He is not going to have temptations kitty crack...but jeez in a pinch thats all they have at 7-11. And I cannot run out of treats for the other 2!
