Eldergays, please explain the inexplicable career of Susan Anspach

I'm watching Blume in Love and all I see is a massive overbite who can't act.

There's only room for a few Susans with unfortunate teeth.

Didn't sleeping with Al Pacino get her a career?

by Anonymousreply 3December 28, 2020 5:13 AM

How in the world could you talk about sexy Susans in the 70s and not mention me!!

Anspach serving up 70s realness here. Not a classic beauty, but striking.

If Frances McDormand and Toni Colette had a child, she might look like this.

She was Jack Nicholson's girl.

by Anonymousreply 13December 28, 2020 6:08 AM

Who wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 14December 28, 2020 6:09 AM

She is a distant relative of mine.

by Anonymousreply 15December 28, 2020 6:09 AM

She had an extremely fucked in chikdhood but overcame it and actually did fairly well early in her career. Yes she was a pretty affected actress but when she was young was highly regarded by some. Vincent Canby praised her acting.

by Anonymousreply 16December 28, 2020 6:14 AM

^^^ fucked up

by Anonymousreply 17December 28, 2020 6:14 AM

It looks like she's battled health problems as far back as the 1980s.

by Anonymousreply 18December 28, 2020 6:15 AM

She was originally cast in NASHVILLE, but then a salary dispute made Robert Altman go with Ronee Blakley, who was already supplying songs for the score.

Ronee Blakley was amazing in Nashville and should have won the Oscar over Lee Grant. Anspach could have never pulled that performance off.

by Anonymousreply 20December 28, 2020 6:31 AM

She was pretty funny in "Play it Again Sam".
