What a crock of shit! Kamala is an American/Asian Indian Woman! I highly doubt she knows a damn thing about Kwanzaa.
They've already had her shaking her ass to Cardi B, telling "weed stories" and listing her favorite Snoop Dogg songs. Next she'll be sharing fried chicken recipes, reciting Maya Angelou and giving tutorials on how to wrap scarves around your head like Erykah Badu.
When will the nonsense stop? Has she no shame?

by Anonymous | reply 60 | December 27, 2020 12:22 PM |
Many of the BS posts above are amusing as Kamala was far and away considered the best choice for a running mate back before Biden had chosen one. Literally all of the other possible choices were in her rearview mirror from day one. THAT is why she ran in the primaries to begin with. The primary race was always between Joe and Bernie. Even Warren never had a chance in Hell (even though she had the notoriety that Kamala, Pete, etc. lacked). She led the "Veepstakes" polls for everyone that mattered including Vegas. I only read nasty things about Senator Harris (sorry, VP Harris that is!) on Repug sites and you guessed it - here. She is moderate, well-spoken, beautiful, personable and most certainly has an "IT" factor in spades. Everyone has a right to their opinion, but most Democrats (not pathetic trolls and Trumptards who invade this website 24/7 pretending to be liberal) have little if anything against her. She might not be your personal favorite, but I can't see any reason to dislike her either. The only polarizing thing about VP Harris is that she is female. If you are a racist and hate her for that reason - fuck off and get with the times. Same goes for you if you are sexist. It's almost 2021 folks.

As usual, DL never fails with its racist and ignorant trolling. Her dad influences the development of Kwanzaa in the early 60s before meeting her mom:
[quote]Harris arrived at the University of California, Berkeley on a colonial Jamaican government scholarship in the fall of 1961. Later in the fall of 1962, he spoke at a meeting of the Afro American Associationāa students' group at Berkeley whose members would go on to establish the discipline of Black studies, propose the holiday of Kwanzaa, and help form the Black Panther Party. After his talk, he met Shyamala Gopalan (1938ā2009), a graduate student in nutrition and endocrinology from India at Cal Berkeley who was in the audience. According to Harris, "We talked then, continued to talk at a subsequent meeting, and at another, and another." In July 1963 he married Gopalan. The couple divorced in December 1971, when daughter Kamala was seven years old and daughter Maya was four years old. The children visited Harris's family in Jamaica as they grew up.
I really hate the fuck out of the racists that seem to dominate here all the time, and I'm white. Don't tell me this is just how DL is because I've been here almost 20 years.

The two are not mutually exclusive you ignorant fuck.

[quote]What a crock of shit! Kamala is an American/Asian Indian Woman! I highly doubt she knows a damn thing about Kwanzaa.
Her dad influenced the development of Kwanzaa you stupid fucking shitstain.

[quote]So your racist assumption is that Harris and her family celebrated a completely foreign to them holiday because her father is Jamaican.
How is it racist to believe what someone herself says? The obvious racism was your assumption that she was lying in the first place!
The troll logic here is really something. "you're racist for believing a black woman is telling the truth about herself!" Might want to dial it down a notch, Cletus. Your hatred is clouding your already limited intellect.

Hilarious that you thought you had to tell us you're white. No one thought you were black. The only ones screaming racism every thread are "concerned" whites.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | December 27, 2020 5:10 PM |
So her father invented Kwanzaa?
by Anonymous | reply 122 | December 27, 2020 5:31 PM |
She loves to climb the Black Lives Matter tree when itās politically expedient and yet as a prosecutor she locked away more black men for smoking pot than anybody else. However, the media is in the tank for her and Biden and theyāll be allowed to dodge and lie all they want.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | December 27, 2020 6:20 PM |
Some unnamed person invented 'kwanzaa' in the year 1983.

R122 Her father gave speeches to a student group whose members would later go on to assist in founding Kwanzaa- so no, he was uninvolved and probably didn't know or care about it.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | December 27, 2020 8:56 PM |
He is Jamaican. The word is Swahili.
Swahili is spoken on the west coast of the wrong island.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | December 27, 2020 9:09 PM |
R37 I don't see how Kwanzaa resembles anything in that article. It looks a lot more like a rip-off of Hannukah, in which a row of candles is lit one-by-one each night.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | December 27, 2020 9:19 PM |
R114 - Because Melania IS a whore with documented photo evidence and not much else from what I can see. She can't speak English, is a plagiarist, is worthless in general and is essentially a dumb bag of rocks. But I really don't care do you?

Melania Trump being the classy bitch that she is:

If Kwanzaa is really about yams, I already like it better than theistic holidays. I donāt trust anyone who believes in the supernatural and sure as shit donāt want them in charge of anything more than bagging my groceries.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | December 27, 2020 10:37 PM |
R132 That's not at all comforting, since it implies Democrats defrauded the public with a sham candidate while planning to oust him and insert a party appointee no one voted for.
Scummy much?
by Anonymous | reply 136 | December 27, 2020 10:42 PM |
The Irish relied on potatoes in the same way as Nigerians rely on yams.
They have the festival praising God for giving them rain for the yam crop.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | December 27, 2020 10:44 PM |
I love potatoes. Iād be much more enthusiastic about holidays if more of them were potato-centric. Thatās it. Iām celebrating Kwanzaa from now on.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | December 27, 2020 10:47 PM |
Potatoes can be fried, mashed, boiled or eaten cold as potato crisps.
But can you do the same for yams?
by Anonymous | reply 139 | December 27, 2020 10:54 PM |
R139, sure, why canāt you do those things to yams? Who says you canāt?
by Anonymous | reply 140 | December 27, 2020 10:55 PM |
^ I've tried Sweet Potatoe and found them disturbingly sweet.
I've never tried yams because their name reminds me of Popeye and Olive Oyl.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | December 27, 2020 11:05 PM |
What the fuck do you have against Pop Eye & Olive Oyl?
by Anonymous | reply 142 | December 27, 2020 11:08 PM |
You can cook yams (taro) and sweet potatoes (a different plant) all the same ways you cook potatoes.

Let's be frank, dear, they are Lower Class.

R143 But are they better? Or just different?
by Anonymous | reply 145 | December 27, 2020 11:10 PM |
R145 Sweet potatoes are much softer and really sweet. They're better as a dessert.
Taro is really starchy and kind of bland. A lot more similar to a red potato.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | December 27, 2020 11:27 PM |
I'm a cook rather than a gourmet so I prefer vegetables that are versatile.
Carrots, for instance, can be baked, shaved or grated to go in sandwiches or blended to be added to citrus smoothies.

R135 I guess we need our new President-in-waiting refer to explain whether her cherished "tender childhood memories" refer to wholesome vegetable foods or irrational, supernatural rituals.

R152 that would be the Mandela Effect
by Anonymous | reply 153 | December 28, 2020 3:51 PM |
Did Mandela claim to have celebrated Kwanzaa as a child?
by Anonymous | reply 154 | December 28, 2020 4:21 PM |
That must be it. Sheās Mandela Affected.
R154, Mandela either invented the yam or recalled a childhood spent in dreary Dickensian England.

Her Jamaican dad is an affluent academic. I wonder how he and his family in Jamaica feel about her aligning herself with African Americans. In my experience the well-off and educated Africans and Afro-Caribbeans are often very snobbish and even somewhat bigoted in how they perceive African Americans.
Sort of like how the Taiwanese, Singaporeans and Hong Kongers feel about the mainland Chinese.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | December 28, 2020 8:15 PM |
R156, they donāt leave the yams put for guests to filch.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | December 28, 2020 8:17 PM |
You can bake and roast yams, that's all. You can't do much else with them.
by Anonymous | reply 160 | December 29, 2020 8:49 PM |
R160, an Indian friend of mine taught me to make a yogurt-based gravy that she sometimes cooked yams in. I found the gravy delicious but I can rarely find yams in my local supermarket so I use other vegetables in it instead.
