What do you think of her as an actress? I like her. She's charming, but not one of my favorites because she never takes any chances. Even super bland, squeaky-clean Bryce Dallas Howard takes chances (she got completely naked in a crazy Lars von Trier film - including a gratuitous crotch shot). Junebug is still her best performance.
Amy Adams

I pretty much find her boring. Did like her in Arrival, Noctunal Animals and Sharp Object even if the later stank to high heavens Amy Adam's performance saved it from being the stinker it deserved to be.
She was also good in The Fighter.

I think she's talented and has great hair.

She’s a solid actress but really nothing special. She’s not that pretty either. I don’t have a problem with her but her A list career is a little confusing.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 25, 2020 11:51 PM |
I find her annoying and for years didn't know why. Then an actor-friend said it: she’s too camera aware. And I realized “That’s it!”

She’s cute in MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY.
But I don’t seek her out in anything.

Ms. Adams, I worked with Lois Lane at the Daily Planet.
I knew Lois Lane. She has been my girlfriend.
Ms. Adams, you're no Lois Lane.

Love the goofy romcom Leap Year.
She’s great and Mathew Goode (he’s so good looking in this movie)

excellent in Nocturnal Animals and Doubt...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 26, 2020 12:56 AM |
I liked her in Enchanted, The Muppet Movie, Doubt and Junebug.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 26, 2020 1:04 AM |
Yeah I know what you mean. Something about her is just blah even though she is talented.
As low class white trash as she is, Jennifer Lawrence had "IT" for that brief window of time.
Amy Adams does play it too safe with roles
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 26, 2020 1:11 AM |
I always get her confused with Jessica Chastain.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 26, 2020 5:20 AM |
I think she’s brilliant. My favorite performance of hers is either Arrival or Junebug.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 26, 2020 5:26 AM |
She looks like Grinch crossed with the Cat in the Hat and I can't unseen it.

Her brother was a "reporter" for Harvey Levin's gossip shit show.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 26, 2020 5:34 AM |
I love her, but like any successful actress - she really shines in some roles and not-so-much in others. Junebug, Doubt, American Hustle, Nocturnal Animals, etc. all really showcased her talent and charm IMO. I even loved her in small roles like Her. Arrival was a downright amazing movie and my favorite of all of her performances. The Superman movies, Muppets, etc. weren't great role choices but I understand the $$$ likely attached to them (much like Jennifer Lawrence in Hunger Games and X-Men). The unsalvageable Hillbilly Elegy was so terrible that I still haven't finished it. I don't blame this on Amy per se; it's just terrible material (and perhaps bad direction on top of that). Why she ever attached her name to it is beyond me. Perhaps it was a chance to get fat and look dumpy onscreen in order to show her "range" as an actress? No clue.

She belongs in a college drama school doing bozo plays.
has the talent of a chair....
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 26, 2020 7:40 AM |
Personally, I thought she was razzie worthy in American Hustle, Vice, and Hillbilly Elegy. Like so many women in Hollywood, her appeal is that she’s cute but not too intimidating to women. Having said that, I’ll take her over Jessica Chastain any day.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 26, 2020 3:59 PM |
R17: The difference is Amy has happened. Jessica is a mediocre, plain looking, woke obsessed actress who they will never stop trying to make happen as a leading lady box office queen. The public just doesn’t give a shit about her.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 26, 2020 6:09 PM |
Charming, but she's never given a performance that blew me away. She's like Sandra Bullock with a better agent.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 29, 2020 2:51 PM |
I first saw her in an episode of "Smallville." She stood out in that hokum.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 29, 2020 2:55 PM |
DL will really have an opinion on her if she plays Sally in FOLLIES.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 29, 2020 2:56 PM |
Really liked her in Junebug and Arrival, would watch her again in a movie that appealed to me, not Hillbilly Elegy or comic book movies.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 29, 2020 3:03 PM |
Sharp Objects would be an example of Amy taking a chance in an edgy role. She was pretty dull. I think she lacks screen presence.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 29, 2020 3:10 PM |
I enjoyed her in PSYCHO BEACH PARTY, DOUBT, ENCHANTED, and AMERICAN HUSTLE. She's talented and plays different types of roles in different types of movies.
Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out what was going on in NOCTURNAL ANIMALS.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 29, 2020 3:14 PM |
She’s better than Jessica Shitstain.

I liked her in "Sunshine Cleaning"
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 29, 2020 4:00 PM |
R32, I was about to post that! It's an underrated movie and she is quite good in it.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 29, 2020 4:27 PM |
I thought her performance in "Arrival" was nothing short of stellar and the fact she wasn't even nominated for that role while Jennifer Lawrence walked off with an Oscar for "Silver Linings Playbook" is just an embarrassment for the Academy in my opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 29, 2020 6:48 PM |
R31: Miles better than Jessica Shitstain.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 29, 2020 6:50 PM |
I loved her in "Junebug" and found her charming in "Miss Pettigrew".
The character she played in "Julie and Julia" was such a whiney, entitled frau that I wanted someone to slap her.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 29, 2020 6:51 PM |
You are so correct about that movie R36. Her character was such a whiny, obnoxious woman. I only understood it fully when I saw an interview with Julie Powell. I then realized that she was simply transforming into this grating woman (despite looking a Hell of lot more attractive of course). Amy actually did a good job after all.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 29, 2020 7:01 PM |
Has there ever been an actor this bland with so many Oscar nominations? I know 90% of the nods are coattail, but still, WTF.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 13, 2021 3:45 AM |
Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, and Bryce Dallas Howard are all the same person to me.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 13, 2021 3:51 AM |
Add Isla Fisher to that mix. It’s like all the Chris actors, can’t tell them apart for the life of me.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 13, 2021 4:00 AM |
I love her early stuff, when she was a struggling young actress: Cruel Intentions 2, Psycho Beach Party, Drop Dead Gorgeous. And she stood out on TV, like on Smallville and Buffy
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 13, 2021 4:08 AM |
She's been rreally good in some things, though I'm surprised at the love she's been getting here for "Nocturnal Animals" and "Arrival;"--hose were both such nothing roles. She's best by far when she's asked to play someone either quirky (like her character in "Junebug") or nasty (like Lynne Cheney in "Vice")--she's no fun when she's playing either blandly virtuous characters, but she seems attracted sometimes to those kinds of roles.
One of the best acting scenes I've seen in recent years was the scene where an anguished Mary Cheney comes out to her parents in "Vice"--Adams makes it clear that the rigid and cold Lynne Cheney would have rejected her daughter right then and there had it just been up to her, but she has to change her tactics when she sees her husband immediately accept his adored daughter's sexuality.

by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 13, 2021 5:07 AM |
Boring, bland, overrated. Wouldn't have a career were she not of northern European ancestry. Audiences and critics love her because she reads as the prototypical suburban wasp American girl next door.
