I wonder if that's the Plaza Hotel in the background. Kim Kardashian showing her refined taste.

What color do you think that Balenciaga gown is?
I love it.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||12/24/2020|
[quote] What color do you think that Balenciaga gown is?
Pink or apricot
|by Anonymous||reply 7||12/24/2020|
It looks like she gave the dress to the Met's Costume Institute.
House of Balenciaga. Evening dress, fall/winter 1965–66. Pale pink gown of pin-dotted silk gazar with ostrich feathers.
For some reason, it looks a little better in a color photo.

Hope Hicks wearing hooker boots in the White House. Republicans once again saying the quiet part out loud
|by Anonymous||reply 9||12/24/2020|
Ooof. R9 Those are hard looking bitches. And no, they can't dress.

Jackie O dressed for a hoedown, Washington DC 1974.

She took a risk and fell flat on her face.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||12/25/2020|
[quote]There's a reason the Caesar haircut went out of style 2,000 years ago.
To be fair, I think that's a standard "on the spectrum" cut.

The First Family of Fashion Faux Pas
|by Anonymous||reply 14||12/25/2020|
Jackie Kennedy vacationing in Capri in June 1971. The slit on her skirt is a bit risqué but nothing compared to Joan Kennedy at R14.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||12/25/2020|
Mrs. Reagan was either too old or too thin or too flat chested or something for this gown.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||12/25/2020|
Yikes. The dress is wearing her.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||12/25/2020|
Sorry OP but Jayne in that Balenciaga is iconic.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||12/25/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 19||12/25/2020|
Another version of the Balenciaga sold at auction a couple of years ago for something like 70G.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||12/25/2020|
R18, Vogue magazine may consider Jayne's dress iconic but I think it looks silly. It's really too much with all those feathers.
Excellent choice, R19.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||12/25/2020|
Sorry too, Babe Paley looks fantastic.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||12/25/2020|
Amateurs! Though the smokey eye does almost hold it all together.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||12/25/2020|
Babe Paley is perfection.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||12/25/2020|
Please no one start with Prince Andrew's daughters or the thread will go to 300 with no room for anyone else.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||12/25/2020|
I would prefer the Balenciaga dress in white or black, it’s a bit of a play on Swan Lake. I don’t like the apricot color.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||12/25/2020|
Then again a lot of actresses and singers deliberately go over the top to get the attention of the press. They're not trying to be elegant.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||12/25/2020|
[quote]Sorry too, Babe Paley looks fantastic.
I might have pedestrian tastes but the top part of the dress looks like some irregular stiff fortification. I also don't like the V-shaped waist. Maybe if I could get a better look at the dress I'd like it more. There seems to be just that one photograph from that one angle.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||12/25/2020|
Who is that fabulous person, R23?
|by Anonymous||reply 29||12/25/2020|
The one and only James Charles R29, who I predict will someday star in a Joan Crawford biopic.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||12/25/2020|
Wouldn't he do better in a remake of "Imitation of Vanilla"?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||12/25/2020|
"Babe Paley was asked to leave after knocking over several lamps and poking the eye out of a server"
|by Anonymous||reply 32||12/25/2020|
Truly horrific R12.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||12/25/2020|
Nancy Kissinger again, looking like Thomas Aquinas
|by Anonymous||reply 34||12/25/2020|
Not one of Jackie's better looks.
I don't think I've seen photos of Nancy Kissinger before. I didn't realise she was into avant grade fashion. Another very good pic, R34
|by Anonymous||reply 35||12/25/2020|
All of the above, R16.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||12/25/2020|
Oh dear. And Julianne Moore is an attractive actress that I like.
Obviously, the no stocking trend was started by young women to put the middle aged and elderly in their place.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||12/25/2020|
Marc, Marc, Marc. You should have worn thong underwear, not boxers. So conservative.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||12/25/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 39||12/25/2020|
Lol, R39. With that confident expression on her face, Liza thinks she looks amazing.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||12/25/2020|
Either her head's too big, she's slouching or she got her bustle turned wrong way round.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||12/25/2020|
Wow, R27. Madonna's shoes are BUSTED in that photo! Scuffed to hell! Surely she could've afforded a new pair of even cheap white pumps. And the anklet with the hose...no.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||12/25/2020|
Vanity Fair Oscar party 2015
a bit vulgar
|by Anonymous||reply 43||12/26/2020|
[quote]Either her head's too big, she's slouching or she got her bustle turned wrong way round.
I assume you're talking about Nancy Reagan at R16. All valid points.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||12/26/2020|
Young Madonna had some punk in her. She looks fine, and the shoes fit the look perfectly.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||12/26/2020|
Melania would have worn this stuff when she was younger.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||01/07/2021|
Honey, you need to cover up, unless you're walking the stroll.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||01/10/2021|
You look sooo beautiful. Where does one get such a lovely dress?
|by Anonymous||reply 48||01/10/2021|
Kay Perry wearing Tom Ford at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||01/10/2021|
Sophia and her ruffles.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||01/10/2021|
Jayne Wrightsman and Bunny Mellon were Jackie's mentors.
Jayne was the force behind the White House restoration, Bunny the Rose Garden design.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||01/10/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 52||01/10/2021|
Thanks for the info, R51. Do you know of any outfits that Mrs. Wrightsman or Mrs. Mellon wore that were fashion fails?
|by Anonymous||reply 53||01/11/2021|
Jayne's dress looks entirely appropriate for the mid-60s. I think she died in the last couple of years (remembering NYT obit). She was in her late 90s, I think.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||01/11/2021|
Yes, she died in April 2019 at the age of 99. I was surprised to learn she was born in Flint, Michigan but I'm sure it wasn't as economically depressed in 1919 as it is now.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||01/11/2021|
Mrs. Wrightsman looking elegant in the 1960s.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||01/11/2021|
No, no, no. This outfit just looks silly.
Balenciaga balloon jacket.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||01/12/2021|
Balenciaga envelope dress, 1967.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||01/12/2021|
I used to listen to Bells are Ringing a lot when I was a kid. I could never figure out they were saying Balenciaga. I had never heard the name before.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||01/12/2021|
Vanky is ready for takeoff.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||01/12/2021|
Great choice, R60. Thanks. Hopefully, we'll see the last of that family on Jan. 20th.
R59, Cristobal Balenciaga was a great designer. Many of his clothes were very beautiful and elegant but, as you can see, some of his creations were really out there, eg. R58.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||01/12/2021|
Did you miss me?
|by Anonymous||reply 62||01/12/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 63||01/12/2021|
Wow, R62. Such subtle make up. Impressive cleavage.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||01/12/2021|
Melania channeling Cassandra Peterson.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||01/12/2021|
Check out my breast implants.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||01/12/2021|
I wish someone famous would wear this one out and about.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||01/13/2021|
[quote]Faux pas is how you spell both the plural and the singular form of the phrase. However, we do make a distinction in the pronunciation—the singular faux pas is pronounced [foh pah], but the plural faux pas is pronounced with a “z” at the end—[foh pahz].
Well, you learn something every day. Or did all you fashionistas already know this?
|by Anonymous||reply 68||01/13/2021|
Color ees bled-white an' peenko, no?
|by Anonymous||reply 69||01/13/2021|
Ivana Trump in a Bob Mackie dress
|by Anonymous||reply 70||01/13/2021|
I could definitely see Lady Gaga wearing that outfit, R67. Great choice.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||01/13/2021|
R65 Is that pic right after one of his bankruptcies, 'cause that tux looks like a Macy's special?
|by Anonymous||reply 72||01/13/2021|
Lol, R72. There was no date on the photograph but obviously it's not recent.
Melania looking too costumey, like an aristocratic 19th century traveller.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||01/13/2021|
[quote]R65 Is that pic right after one of his bankruptcies, 'cause that tux looks like a Macy's special?
I found it. The dress at R65 is from the 2004 Met Gala. The theme was "Dangerous Liaisons". It's a black satin dress, with pleat details and a waist-cinching corset.
Wikipedia says Trump did declare bankruptcy six times between 1991 and 2009. Maybe he was penny pinching at the time.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||01/13/2021|
Now THAT'S fashion!
Ivanka Trump in 1997 during her modeling career.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||01/13/2021|
The nostalgia look.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||01/14/2021|
Hahaha, R75. I found the Duchess of Alba in the same dress. Is that Lindsey Graham's face?
|by Anonymous||reply 77||01/14/2021|
|by Anonymous||reply 78||01/14/2021|
I don't know why Melania was criticised for this Dolce and Gabbana coat. I love it. Is it because of the $51,000 price tag? Too much conspicuous consumption?
|by Anonymous||reply 79||01/16/2021|
I look as good as I did when I was 30. You're all just jealous.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||01/16/2021|
