Tasteful Friends: the ghost of CZ Guest weeps at what has been done to her former penthouse
Once upon a time this was one of the most prized penthouses in one of the most exclusive buildings in Manhattan. On Sutton Place overlooking the East River, the exterior views are still spectacular, but the interior ones, not so much. It has had a "contemporary facelift".
In this Candela building built for the Phipps Family, the residence is on the market for $45 million.

Very Clockwork Orange. I like it except for the gray carpet.

That’s all Lisa Perry’s doing.

I hate it all except for the white leather sectional.

If CZ Guest was a proper lady, how do you explain this painting by Diego Rivera?

It's like a child decorated it.

Dammit,R2 stole my thunder. I thought I'd be the first to note the resemblance to the production design of A Clockwork Orange.

I like the kitchen and the library

The furniture looks like it would be uncomfortable.

Oh. My. Fucking. God.
That was a GORGEOUS property before. You can update it without looking like the inside of the MOMA.
I'm SHOCKED that this was an American and not some Russian oligarch who did this shit.
Get the pitchforks. Lisa Rachel Newberger Perry needs to be taught a lesson.
Oh - and Lisa? Your husband looks GAY AS FUCK!

I don't vehemently dislike the interior as much as some of you. For me, it's more that it feels totally mismatched to the location and the building. It feels very Miami.

We were discussing an apartment below this a while back. Someone said it was being combined with the penthouse above. Guess not.

Here's the thing - it's has NO STYLE except to show off some pop art. White everywhere and no warmth.
Look at the outside of the place - it's an amazing penthouse exterior.
I hate her without knowing her. She is a show-off, pretentious bitch.

The buyer will be able to wave to Judge Judy across the way. Her view is basically this apartment.

Why would you pay a fortune to get a view of goddamn Queens?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 20, 2020 2:51 AM

I love the kitchen and of course the view. The rest sucks.
What Lisa Perry does is great for a concept store but not for a storied pre-war apartment. Geez.

R15 You like the library? Are you in the habit of choosing what you will read by the color of the book binding? Because that is how the books are assembled. That is the library of people who don't read. That is a travesty of a library.

I always try and picture the type of personality that might fit in with these "Tasteful Friends" properties. Whether it be a pop star, actor, old money or new there's always a "type" for every house. But I'll be damn if I figure out who in the world with $45 million to spend on a penthouse would see this and just "have to have it"
The closet I come would be the love child of Liza Minnelli and Andy Warhol

Liza Minnelli's former NY apartment where she lived for decades was actually very nice.

I’d move in. It looks comfortable to me. I’ve seen much more offensive rich person habitat.

this apartment looks very low grade art gallery. You do NOT do this in a limestone building.

The apartment in the north wing below the penthouse was bought by the Perry's. Since it is not listed in the sale or separately, it's possible they are moving into after they sell the penthouse.

If a woman whipped this into existence, she is both frigid and uninteresting to the male sex. If a man were to create this, iits possible he has a sex life but violence will be involved, if not also chain saws.

They would have some actual taste, I suspect. This is the work of someone who is always, now and forever, a wannabe. The coffee table with books on Mary Quant and Chanel displayed under the glass top is so awful it gave me second-hand embarrassment.

R18 that was my reaction too.
I'd be doing more than fucking weeping if I was the ghost of CZ Guest. I'd be the poltergeist from hell
I cant find pics of what this place looked like before this woman fucked it up, but going by the pics in this article linked of one of here other properties it would have been beautiful.... once
What a fucking waste
And yeah her husband sure does look as if he would be damn good at sucking cock

Too white.
Obviously not suitable for anyone with children, women who have periods, nudists, or people who snack on the couch. I'd be so fucking paranoid about getting dirt or whatever on all that white that I'd never be able to relax and enjoy the place.
