I believe it's actually a famous entertainer, not necessarily actor, who was stabbed and later provided a description.

An article at the time said he was a well-known San Franciscan performer (so maybe not nationally famous) but I can't find a copy of the article that's readable enough to see what else it said.

Eventually Millennials will start committing the crimes themselves when they run out of podcast fodder.
