I've heard this rumor that he was for years. True?
He’s dead, so let’s just say yes. What’s he gonna do, sue us??

The Fresh Bottom of Bel Air
by Anonymous | reply 2 | December 17, 2020 1:28 AM |
Wasn't he married to a woman?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 17, 2020 2:02 AM |
R3 is right. Shameful speculation!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 17, 2020 2:04 AM |
OP may be confusing him with Reginald VelJohnson who played Carl Winslow on Full House. Never married, no kids.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 17, 2020 2:07 AM |
What's with these TV dads from the 90s being secretly gay in real life?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 17, 2020 2:09 AM |
Not sure about Uncle Phil - but we know about Uncle Carl.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 17, 2020 2:10 AM |
OP may be confusing him with Sherman Hemsley who played George Jefferson on “The Jefferson’s”. Never married, no kids.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 17, 2020 2:12 AM |
R5 It was "Family Matters."
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 17, 2020 2:16 AM |
Don’t judge me but fuck I used to get horny over Uncle Phil. He had that old-fashioned habit of pulling your pants up around your thighs before sitting down and it really showed off his bulge/ass. He was real nice and juicy.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 17, 2020 2:25 AM |
I agree with R10. Uncle Phil was attractive
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 17, 2020 2:33 AM |
Weren't all the men on that show gay?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | December 17, 2020 2:38 AM |
Thanks R9. I was raised on TGIF. How embarrassing for me.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | December 17, 2020 2:50 AM |
I meant to sign as R5 in R13.
I’m going to bed now.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | December 17, 2020 2:51 AM |
James Avery was indeed gay in real life, and closeted.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 17, 2020 2:53 AM |
Any more gossip?

R12 Was Jeffrey the Butler gay?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 17, 2020 6:09 AM |
Geoffrey, sorry
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 17, 2020 6:11 AM |
R17, he's not gay, he's just British.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 17, 2020 7:24 AM |
Uncle Phil (Up My Asshole).
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 17, 2020 7:37 AM |
I thought he was always eyeing Hilary's boyfriends!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 17, 2020 7:41 AM |
Blink and you'll miss him as an uncredited young dancer in the Ray's Music Exchange scene ('Shake A Tail Feather') of THE BLUES BROTHERS.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 17, 2020 7:53 AM |
OP may be confusing him with Robert Reed who played Mike Brady on 'The Brady Bunch'. Married once, one kid.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 17, 2020 8:53 AM |
This is super random and at least 25 years ago. Somehow or another I got involved with volunteering at a fundraiser where Uncle Phil was the emcee. I can’t even remember what the event was for, but the B-52s performed and there was a fashion show.
He appeared standoff-ish, but not rude. Not that I approached him, it was just an observation.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 17, 2020 8:55 AM |
Always thought Joseph Marcell who played the butler on Fresh Prince was gay, turns out he was just British.
You see I have this theory that all Englishmen are gay....
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 17, 2020 9:29 AM |
Speaking of black sitcom dads, how about Rondell Sheridan from That’s So Raven? God he was cute! Who’s had him?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 17, 2020 10:08 AM |
R29, Bob Uecker is gay?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 17, 2020 10:28 AM |
Major pussyhound, OP.
Major.

I forgot about Mr Belvedere. Why did the family on that show even have a butler? That house was basic and the mom didn’t even work. They had two nearly grown ass kids to babysit and do chores. Fucking white privilege.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 17, 2020 8:21 PM |
[quote] That house was basic
Bitch!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 17, 2020 10:09 PM |
R33
Maxwell "Max" Beverly Sheffield didn't need a butler for his "basic" UES townhouse, but never the less he had Niles as butler/chauffeur. We saw Niles at times with a feather duster or otherwise supposed to be doing domestic chores, but that house needed cleaners, daily or live in.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 18, 2020 5:46 AM |
Isn’t Waldo Geraldo Faldo gay, too? Also, did Geoffrey the butler ever sit on his balls like Mr. Belvedere?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 18, 2020 5:52 AM |
"You see I have this theory that all Englishmen are gay..."
If only!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 18, 2020 6:01 AM |
The Mr. Belvedere thing reminds me of the pilot for The Golden Girls, when they had the gay cook. Why on earth would anybody ever think these old broads would need (or be able to afford) a damn cook? I’m glad they scrapped that idea.

Coco worked for Blanche when she was on her own as a widow. Once Dorothy and other girls moved in Coco was history.
As you yourself saw his character was no longer needed.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 18, 2020 7:06 AM |
R5, I never knew Carl Winslow was gay!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 18, 2020 1:01 PM |
The "how come he don't want me, man?" scene in THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR really showcased the acting talents of both Avery & Smith, gut-wrenching work. Such a pity that Will turned out to be a smug gross clam.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 20, 2020 1:26 PM |
Uncle Phil was not gay, but the actor who played him may or may not have been gay.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 20, 2020 1:44 PM |
[quote]Thanks [R9]. I was raised on TGIF. How embarrassing for me.
R13, I don’t think Carl Winslow was ever on an episode of Full House but Steve Urkel was, all TGIF shows were in the same TV universe.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 20, 2020 1:45 PM |
[quote]Was Uncle Phil gay?
Yes. That’s why the first Aunt Vivian left.
