I read that Duane had their money tied up in some semi-nefarious real estate dealings so I believe it. An actress at her level does well but they still have to be smart with money. I heard that Lisa Raye still has money and she didn't have as many gigs as Tisha.

Anyone who makes good money needs to throughly research anyone they want to marry.

I have a longtime female friend who is now on her 4th husband! She's got her own money, always had a great job. This woman left all the marriages with nothing from her exes. She gave her exes nothing either. Smart woman! She owns her home and has another house in the country.

People should never marry someone who is not their equal in all areas especially financially.

I would love to look over her financial records just to see where money was lost on what. It's fascinating to me when people lose so much.

I think it's a combination of trusting the wrong people and just not paying attention to what's going on. Just recently she did a soap opera, and I kept wondering why, and it's clearly because she needed the money. And she is clearly stress eating. I hope it all works out for her.

I used to have a huge crush on Duane Martin. He was really hot back in the day.

No excuses for not managing good paychecks made from long-running tv show. She trusted her man to manage sizable amount of money when he had no business even managing money for weekly grocery. At the very least she should’ve invested in real estate properties, not scam investments. She could live in or rent out those properties, she wouldn’t need to work. There are many lesser celebs than her who have invested well that way and live off income stream from rentals. They may not be super rich but they’re not left with $7 in their bank account either.

Duane and Tisha were equally yoked for much of their marriage. He hasn't worked as much lately but had as much work as her for decades. Their financial issues are attributable to fiscal mismanagement. Their BK filing was ridiculous. They were trying to live like Will & Jada on Mo'Nique money.

Tisha is so frickin' likable. I'd love for her to be on some prestige HBO series. Love her acting and she just seems like a great person, but bad taste in men and money management.

Duane became a sports agent. I have no idea if he has top clients or if he is still in that business, but he was trying to be a businessman, which is why he got out of acting.

Another actor who fucked up his money was Darryl Bell of A DIFFERENT WORLD. His father was a wealthy businessman in securities. He died, left it to Darryl and because Darryl didn't know anything about business, destroyed the business.

I think her SAG pension should be substantial and hopefully shielded. An acquaintance of mine was on one season of a hit show and, after years of leading tours in NYC and scraping by, aged into his pension and lives really comfortably in New England on it.

Their divorce filing reveals that Duane was not the problem. They both were. They over spent and had to file for bankruptcy. Which is not unusual for entertainers. Nor is it unusual for entrepreneurs to face failure. Most small businesses fail. But because they are black; there has to be some sort of nasty trope attached to what = a common occurrence in Hollywood. And Darryl Bell inherited millions in his early 20s. His story is different. He came from an affluent family.

Incidentally, with what Covid is currently doing to the entertainment industry. The number of bankrupt entertainers will surely rise.

This actually answers a question I had! While looking up Tichina Arnold kn Wikipedia, I noticed she's worked with Tisha Campbell off-and-on since they were teenagers. Because both have worked consistently since the 80s, I wondered just how rich they are...

When she said she was down for a "Martin" reboot a few years back, I knew she had to be needing money badly, after all the bad blood between her Martin Lawrence towards the end of the original show. They barely had any scenes together during the last season and she alleged he sexually harassed her.

Several years back, there were rumors Tichina Arnold was having money problems, too.

In happier times. Duane was SO gorgeous.

I can MAYBE understand only having been on Martin and never working again/not investing or spending lavishly. But then she got My Wife and Kids, which had 123 episodes! She should've been set for life. Sad.

She needs to get in on a reboot of ‘Rags to Riches’ and it would be cool to just have her and the other two gals return for the ‘little shop of horrors’ remake.
