It is that time of year again when attention turns to making predictions about what the new year will bring.
Some names that spring to mind for me include Bob Barker, Prince Philip, June Lockhart, Liza Minnelli and Barbara Walters.

King and Queen of England. She goes first, him soon after.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||12/11/2020|
There's no way Bob Barker is 97, he's more like 84 or 85. He looks like shit.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||12/11/2020|
No, R4, he is that old. I can't believe he outlived Alex Trebek.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||12/11/2020|
Barbara Walters is basically senile and/or demented, from what I hear. She has no idea who she is or where she is.
It would be a sad end to an illustrious career, but I've always hated Barbara Walters, so no.

Nobody I know. Nope. No siree.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||12/11/2020|
r3 Prince Philip is NOT the King of England the UK or anywhere else!
|by Anonymous||reply 9||12/12/2020|
r7 I thought she was more stable and happier these days? I would think Lindsay Lohan is a better guess.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||12/12/2020|
My wish list:
Randy and/or Dennis Quaid
Diamond and Silk
|by Anonymous||reply 11||12/12/2020|

|by Anonymous||reply 13||12/12/2020|
R11 If only! Marion Ross
|by Anonymous||reply 14||12/12/2020|
R9 - Thank you. It is astonishing how ignorant non-Brits are of how the British monarchy works (and, for that matter, the other European monarchies, in which no consort of a Queen Regnant becomes "King").
That said, given her age, QEII should be on the list, but somehow, no one really expects her to.
She looks healthier than Charles.
Charles is 72. I'll put him on the list just for the hell of it. And won't that put the cat amongst the pigeons!
|by Anonymous||reply 15||12/12/2020|
The usual suspects: Kissinger, George Schultz, Walter Mondale, Jimmy Carter, Bob Dole. One old rocker, maybe someone like Steve Perry. A younger celebrity surprise or two from drug overdoses. That guy from “Friends” who looks like death, another Perry.

R3, I actually think Philip will die before Liz does - the shock of his death will be what finally kills Her Majesty.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||12/12/2020|
Philip has always been king in Elizabeth's heart.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||12/12/2020|
To the contrary, after the Duke of Edinburgh's death the queen will be liberated and remarry within a year or two. The n go on reigning for another 60 years.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||12/12/2020|
If the Queen dies first he'll move back to Greece and retire there in a nice bungalow on Crete.

|by Anonymous||reply 30||12/12/2020|
For surprises (but not really), Charlie Sheen and Johnny Depp.
For the predictable , Keith Richards, Betty White, Gale Gordon and Dianne Fienstein.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||12/12/2020|
I'll go with my usual; Dick Van Dyke
|by Anonymous||reply 32||12/12/2020|
Gale Gordon is ALIVE?????????
|by Anonymous||reply 33||12/12/2020|
Gene Hackman sure has been lying low for a long time, hasn’t he. What’s he up to?
It’s too soon for Cloris Leachman. I couldn’t take it.
It’s so weird how Baba Wawa went downhill seemingly so quickly. One day she was just, like, gone... There weren’t any signs on The Views that she was deteriorating.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||12/12/2020|
*The View, god damn it
|by Anonymous||reply 35||12/12/2020|
Interesting that Bob Barker's nose remain exactly the same, in op's pic . i thought they will get bigger as you grow older? But his ears sure did.

R31 Gale Gordon looks pretty good for a man who kicked his bucket 25 years ago.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||12/14/2020|

Death would be too kind. I want to see him do a Joseph Kennedy; suffer a debilitating stoke, be unable to speak, yet remain aware of what's going on around him.
He'll be forced to sit in front of the TV, unable to tweet while his children and everyone in his administration get investigated.

Dick Van Dyke
|by Anonymous||reply 67||12/14/2020|
Don Marion Davis? I had to look that one up as for a second I read it as Marion Davies, William Randolph Hearst’s paramour. For the record Marion Davies has been dead since 1961.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||12/14/2020|
|by Anonymous||reply 69||12/14/2020|
Dick Van Dyke is a beast. If he wants to die he's going to have to pay someone to drop a boulder off a freeway overpass on him.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||12/14/2020|
Marion Ross is in very good health. Yes, she’s 90, but she has more years left I think.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||12/14/2020|

R79 Oh that's a shame. I didn't realise. Wikipedia hasn't been updated yet.

The remaining MARY TYLER MOORE cast is way up there in age. Although Mary, Georgia Engel (Georgette), Ted Knight (Ted) and Valerie Harper (Rhoda) have all died, Betty White (Sue Ann), Cloris Leachman (Phyllis), Ed Asner (Lou), and Gavin MacLeod (Murray) are all almost 90 or over 90. Betty will be 99 in January; Cloris is 94; Ed is 91; Gavin is 89. John Amos who recurred as Gordie the weatherman will be 81 at the end of the month.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||12/15/2020|

r84 Anyone in particular in mind?
|by Anonymous||reply 97||12/15/2020|
Golly r88 If that really did come true that would be a shocking year , the year of of royal death for sure . There are other plausible names to throw in the mix . Queen Paola of Belgium ,King Harold of Norway , The Current aged King of Saudi Arabia, King Juan Carlos of Spain etc . Paola and Juan are abdicated from their King Queen royal roles but would still count as significant royal deaths .

Nobody has mentioned one of the last featured actors from MGM's golden age Marsha Hunt. Or Steve. I guess he's planning a new musical based on L'Avventura or Last Year at Marienbad and then will complain he's never written a huge crowd pleasing musical that runs for years and years.

|by Anonymous||reply 122||12/17/2020|
Does Bob Dole still do boner pill commercials or is now doing money scams targeting the elderly? Liddy was revolting and she hates being called Liddy. which makes it more fun to do.
My guess is that several MLB players will go in 2021---more and more of the stars from the 50s and 60s seem to die every year. Probably some middling NFL guys, too, with all the neurological damage.
Cheney seems to defy the odds. I think one of the Doles is more likely. Joni Mitchell seems to defy the odds, as well. There are tons of rockstars born in the 40s who are likely to kack given all their drug use. Keith Richards and Mick Jagger seem to defy the odds, but more middling guys doing the third tier Indian casino and suburban "community days" circuits can't be doing well.

One or more of the remaining B-list old timers like Jane Withers (she's in her 90s).
Betty White seems to have a lower profile these days--may be she'll make it to 100 and then drop dead.

Jackie Mason looks awful. Even for 92.
He should pull a Joan Crawford and become a recluse
|by Anonymous||reply 126||12/17/2020|
R126 can confirm that - I saw him on UWS this past winter (around Jan/Feb). Took me a while to realize who he was; actually was his voice that gave it away.
And haha agree with your last point.

Barbara Barrie has had health issues over the years. I used to see her on the Upper West Side from time to time, but, of course, nobody goes anywhere anymore.
She's 89 and her brother-in-law Sheldon Harnick is 96. Aside from the actresses who played the daughters, and Austin Pendleton, who played the tailor, Harnick is the only surviving member of the original FIDDLER ON THE ROOF production.

|by Anonymous||reply 179||12/20/2020|
For my list, I wanted to add the causes of death.
Queen Elizabeth - Old age
Kanye West - Murder
Britney Spears - Murder made to look like a suicide, likely culprit being her father
Jimmy Carter - Old age
Justin Bieber - Drug overdose
Owen Joyner - Car crash
Jonny McGovern - Suicide or drug overdose
Chaka Khan - Heart attack
Dionne Warwick - Fatal disease or covid
Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi - Suicide

Yoko. Oh no!

|by Anonymous||reply 182||12/20/2020|
Cicely Tyson Dolly Parton Aaron Carter Dionne Warwick Queen Elizabeth Prince Phillip Nick Stahl Shia LaBoeuf Martin Sheen
|by Anonymous||reply 183||12/20/2020|
I was worried about her after her stroke and then radio silence for months. But I've since learned she finished the movie she'd been filming at the time and has been out and about since.
|by Anonymous||reply 184||12/20/2020|
That bitch Cissy Houston.
|by Anonymous||reply 185||12/20/2020|
Deneuve, still a beauty. Even as a mature "plus-size."
American actresses could learn a thing or two from Deneuve and some of her French colleagues about aging with grace.
|by Anonymous||reply 186||12/20/2020|
R184 I wouldn't be surprised if COVID takes Deneuve out soon. She is in the right age group, a heavy smoker and overwright. Also having recently had a stroke makes her more vulnerable.
|by Anonymous||reply 187||12/20/2020|
Will Covid take any British stars? It's getting pretty bad over there
|by Anonymous||reply 188||12/20/2020|
R182 Chaka is not the epitome of health.
|by Anonymous||reply 189||12/20/2020|
r188 It has already taken a few but I imagine there will be more. Famous names I mean not just stars as in celebrities. So far in the UK covid has taken comedian and actor Bobby ball ,another actor and comedian Tim Brooke Taylor, a notorious aristocrat The Marquess of Bath, 1966 national Football world cup winning squad member Norman Hunter,comedian eddie Large, tv soap actor Johnny Leeze, murderer Peter Sutcliffe otherwise known as the Yorkshire ripper and film actress and producer Hilary Dwyer. Few would be well known in the USA but we have lost a few to it.
|by Anonymous||reply 190||12/20/2020|

Mammie Van Doren.
Mama June, perhaps from COVID, perhaps from an OD.
Oliva Newton John ( I am surprised she has made it this far with all her medical issues)
|by Anonymous||reply 196||12/20/2020|
Some more names to throw into the mix
Raquel Welch , Linda Nolan, June Brown, Leslie Phillips , Carroll Baker, Lorna Luft, King Juan Carlos of Spain, Robert Duvall, Don King and another one of the Pointer sisters.

How many of the predictions for 2020 came true?
|by Anonymous||reply 200||12/20/2020|
r100 Good question. Someone digging out the old thread and having a nosey at it could be interesting. I know a few mentioned Vera Lynn, Kirk Douglas, Olivia De Havilland and Rhonda Fleming all who did die. However so far Bob Dole, Bob Barker and Jimmy Carter have proved to be wrong predictions.
|by Anonymous||reply 201||12/20/2020|
I agree about the Catherine Deneuve comments. She is still beautiful. Growing old gracefully.
Plus thanks for the heads up, that her mother is still alive!

|by Anonymous||reply 205||12/21/2020|
R203 Greta Thunberg??? She's not even an adult yet.
I'd have said Tony Bennett and Dick Van Dyke, but they both seem to be in fairly good shapes for their age. So I'm saying Aaron Carter, who seems to be in bad shape for his age.

Just ask the last two D-listers about my voodoo curses. Oh that's right, you can't because their DEAD. That's what they get for stabbing me in the back at the start of our careers. [quote] Julie's career died when she married Blake.
I think it’s the exact opposite: she would not have had a film career after 1968 if not for him. That movie she made about Gertrude Lawrence made back less than half of its budget. Yet somehow 20th Century Fox managed to finagle seven Oscar nominations for it. She wasn’t one of them. That’s twice in a row somebody else was nominated for an Oscar for a movie she was in and not her.

“Carole Cook is 96.
Tick, tick, tick, tick....”
I saw Carole (97 this month) and her husband Tom (92) on a web-isode last week.
They’re both sharp and funnier than hell (C: “Oh to be ninety again...”).
As long as there are gigs to play, they’ll be around.

I geniunely fear that US politics and the atmosphere around it means that political assassinations will become more frequent .Very sad state of affairs.
|by Anonymous||reply 402||01/13/2021|
R402- I agree. It's something I am fearing as larger venues/locations start to ramp up security that these insane terrorists are going to start new methods-
|by Anonymous||reply 403||01/13/2021|
r403 I think things have got to a stage were this toxic intimidating atmosphere around politics has reached such heights that no quick or short term fix is possible .I think severe political tumult is going to be with the USA for at least a decade .I want to be wrong but I struggle to see how I am.
On a related point ,I think americans have not grasped that many people and governments around the world are watching your country very closely and are shocked and anxious and how things have become so bad so relatively quickly. This I guess would never be stated publicly but I think in reports and assesements etc by different countries intelligence services that they are giving to their governments especially in the west ,Canada, UK, France, Spain, Australia etc they will be marking the USA down as a country that is becoming an unstable democracy in the long term with all the implications that may flow from that.

Bob Barker was my first experience with a celebrity being a total angel when the camera was on -- and then a complete asshole the second it was turned off. I had just moved to L.A. and was caught off guard (later, I saw many more cases of it, of course).

I worry about political assassinations, too. IMO, I don't think that people like Biden is as vulnerable as softer targets. For example, I worry about Hillary, and all four Obamas. Maybe Hunter Biden or Kamala Harris's Jewish husband. I worry about Justin Trudeau and Angela Merkel and Pope Francis. If you accept the fact that there is a worldwide extremist conspiracy and it is from the Right, and it's inspired and orchestrated and financed by Putin and his minions, then you realize the objective is to demoralize and scare people.
|by Anonymous||reply 439||01/29/2021|

Here are my 2021 predictions:
|by Anonymous||reply 444||02/01/2021|
R6, if Walters has Alzheimer's she'll live for another 6-7 years. Once they completely lose their marbles, they revert to babbling babies with no stress. It's the caregivers who suffer.
|by Anonymous||reply 445||02/01/2021|
Speaking of alzheimers, Joanne Woodward's had it for at least 10 years...so her time might be up this year.
|by Anonymous||reply 446||02/01/2021|
TERI GARR OWNS THIS THREAD.
|by Anonymous||reply 447||02/01/2021|
Why is that R431? You want them to SUFFER? How bizarre.
Of course Matt Leblanc's been chain-smoking for the last 35 years, so he could end up being the first. Perry LOOKS terrible, but Leblanc's getting portly as well and could croak at any second from a multitude of smoking related factors.
|by Anonymous||reply 448||02/01/2021|
R410 Predicted two days before Hal passed. What did you know that we didn't?
|by Anonymous||reply 449||02/02/2021|
R444. Tony Bennett has Alzheimers. As R445 said, they live FOREVER after diagnosis. So he'll probably be around at least another 4-5 years. Poor guy...he's one of the greatest of all time.

|by Anonymous||reply 457||02/05/2021|
[quote]He looks like shit these days

|by Anonymous||reply 458||02/05/2021|
R457 Indeed. Most people who smoke end up dying before there time due to the effects but there are a select few that it seems to make no difference to.
|by Anonymous||reply 459||02/05/2021|
The death parade continues with Mary Wilson. I'd heard Cindy Birdsong was sick but not Mary.
|by Anonymous||reply 460||02/09/2021|

That was in 2006, R468. Lately she's been acting again, she gave an interview recently saying she had to learn to walk and talk again though, which might be what you're thinking of.
She's been in a LOT lately so she must be doing reasonably well.

Prince Philip will not be allowed to die until all restrictions ae lifted. Neither will the Queen.
Prince Andrew will die of a "heart attack". Fergie will steal his collection of porn and photos of him diddling children. She will use it to blackmail the Family. She will have a fatal car accident.
