This is pretty amateurish. He can rest on any single note, so nothing is built musically. This is just a bunch of warbling. Yick.

I don't see the need in criticizing this kid , who did well on this particular song, when the real criticism should befall The Voice itself. Not a single black female has won the show in 19 seasons. Not saying they somehow must/should win, just saying there are plenty of them that were more deserving that previous winners diehard fans probably can't even remember.

The woman below , Kennedy Holmes ( far more impressive than Carter), and so many other people lost to a generic, usually off-key country tween. After that season, it was clear to me this show is shit and not for real talent. Other than Jordan Smith, they haven't had a really talented singer win. I mean the woman who sang Never Enough got eliminated early.

I also submit a lot of the reason singers like Carter win is when Blake Shelton has 2 or more singers in the finale because of vote splitting. The Voice audience is honestly like watching Rep. v. Dem elections. Shelton wins generally, but only loses when his cult splits the vote. My gripe with these shows is that the audience (similar to Idol) like being right about who they think is best, and have little to no intention of buying these people's records . I was in junior high during Idol and after Carrie Underwood's season I gave up on these shows b/c after.. what 18 years??? these shows still have the same bullshit of the audience voting on who they like for the moment only to forget them after the next season starts.

As for Carter, I'm glad anyone but Shelton's forgettable trope won. Carter Rubin and John Holiday were the only 2 this year who should have won. Honorable mention to Sid Kingsley who got knocked out in the Lives.

He's ok but he's no Susan Boyle. Though they probably weigh about the same.
