Boys are now encouraged to shave it off for bacterial reasons. Sad.
Only 1 in 10 Guys Don’t Trim or Shave Their Armpits
by Anonymous | reply 80 | January 9, 2021 4:47 PM |
I am happy to be one out of 10, though I think the stat is made up.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | December 6, 2020 10:40 AM |
Bacterial reasons?

It's common in Germany for men to shave under their arms, from what I believe.
I like hairy armpits though. I also like pubes and while it doesn't bother me when I pull down a guy's pants and he has shaved them off, I'd prefer he keep it.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | December 6, 2020 10:45 AM |
R3 I live in Germany and it is not common I have seen a few at my gym but by no means the majority.
The ones that make me laugh are the bearded hipsters covered in fur from pits to toes with shaved pubes. They look fucking ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | December 6, 2020 11:00 AM |
The last time I did it - with a regular razor - resulted in such prolonged, continuous itching that I’ve never done it again. .
by Anonymous | reply 5 | December 6, 2020 11:04 AM |
I love hairy men, and I love naturally smooth men, but when men are smooth only because they shave too much of their body hair off it weirds me out a bit. A naturally smooth guy still has that soft down on his skin. Even if you can't see it, it adds something to him. A guy who shaves it off looks too feminine to me or something. Can't bear shaved legs on a guy.
Apologies R4, as I said, it was from what I believed, as in I was told that, but I take it back if not true. I wonder why people were saying that? Oh and yes a hairy body all over and then shaved pubes does sound ridiculous!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 6, 2020 11:13 AM |
There's no info on the actual survey except that Men's Health did it with their readers, who aren't exactly representative of anything. This is just "junk science" at best, even if OP was willing to take the bait.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 6, 2020 11:17 AM |
Can you say body odor?

If there is one thing I absolutely love, it is chewing on a man's armpits. There could be nothing greater.

Is this Gillette research - shaming males with underarm hair - making them feel other - to drive sales to make up for sales lost by being woke?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | December 6, 2020 11:57 AM |
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.
I'm not even that old. But, the internet and a lack of critical thinking skills has created a generation of idiots.

Really? it's common for men to shave their underarms in a place where It's uncommon for women to do so?
And this is "from what [you] believe?" Okay!

by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 6, 2020 12:21 PM |
Oh, gentlemen, let me tell you -- that is exactly what I was told in 8th grade health class in 1971. I was also told that deodorant won't work if you don't shave your armpits.
Of course, as a budding lesbian (whose mother would not allow her to shave yet), I was furious that the teacher wasn't saying that to the boys' health class.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | December 6, 2020 12:26 PM |
More #FakeNews
It's a poll of Men's Health readers
There's nothing scientific about it meaning it's not accurate, and men who do shave their pits are far more likely to participate in the survey.

I usually manscape fairly regularly, but since lockdown I've become lazy and let the jungle take over, so this is very timely for me.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 6, 2020 12:46 PM |
Shaved little nancy boys are gross. Instant boner killer. If I wanted to fuck a woman I’d choose an actual woman, not some poor imitation of one. Nashty.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | December 6, 2020 1:19 PM |
I do it because the deodorant works better if there is skin to stick to and not clumpy hair. Not shave just buzz with clippers.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | December 6, 2020 1:58 PM |
To the guys that complain about the odor of hairy arm pits: have you tried using deodorant and showering at least once a day?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | December 6, 2020 2:07 PM |
Clark Gable shaved his chest and his armpits. He had apparently lived in squalor as a young man, and as a result was fastidious with his grooming

by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 6, 2020 2:35 PM |
This is clearly another thread populated by old queens with an armpit fetish bitching about practical hygiene habits. Shaving and trimming is cleaner and better. I bet you bitches complain about lockdowns and mask wearing too.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 6, 2020 2:43 PM |
Don't shave my pits, but do shave my chest - largely because I have a lot of chest hair and it gets itchy. And yeah, I shower daily...
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 6, 2020 2:48 PM |
B.S. I've never shaved my armpits. When I was growing up it was something women did. For the most part, it's a bad idea to shave your armpits crotch and asscrack. There is hair there to soften any chafing that results from skin brushing up against skin.
I shave my face, trim nosehairs and earhair, that's about it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 6, 2020 2:48 PM |
[Quote] as a result was fastidious with his grooming
Didn't his breath stink? The wooden teeth etc.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 6, 2020 2:52 PM |
Yeah definetly fake news. Most men arent doing this. The young gen z dudes barely even groom themselves. Masc 4 masc is in so most guys let everything grow wild
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 6, 2020 2:53 PM |
Not true. Lots of young guys think it will make their dick look way bigger.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 6, 2020 2:54 PM |
I view shaving ones body with infantalizing ones self. No thanks.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 6, 2020 3:04 PM |
I trim with scissors, probably only three times a year. If I do not, it seems as if it keeps growing longer. I think some men have less hair, or it isn't programmed to grow as long. Shaving seems over the top for me.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 6, 2020 3:08 PM |
r11 Yeah, make it a thing to drive sales. Then there will be a must-have, 'specially-designed' shaver for armpit hair.
Trim armpit hair by all means, but shaving it all off is fucking stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 6, 2020 3:24 PM |
Proof of your allegation R24
by Anonymous | reply 35 | December 6, 2020 5:02 PM |
I'm hairy and shave only my face, or rather buzz a close beard down with clippers once or twice a week. My pubic hair I trim a bit with scissors now and then, to keep the hair from catching (ouch) in my foreskin.
That's it.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | December 6, 2020 5:12 PM |
You must have a short dick if your pubes get caught in your foreskin.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | December 6, 2020 5:13 PM |
R24. I read that years ago in a Clark Gabke biography.
However, I did notice his hairless chest in ‘It Happened One Night’.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 6, 2020 5:40 PM |
R22 I trim mine for the same reason. I don't actually shave anywhere, just trim it to stay presentable and be less itchy.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 6, 2020 5:49 PM |
I just shaved my pits, crotch, taint and asshole on Friday.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 6, 2020 6:02 PM |
That number is made up. No way 9 in 10 shave or trim armpits.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 6, 2020 6:06 PM |
Nonsense. Only 1 in a 100 shave their pits and they are mostly bodybuilders.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 6, 2020 6:12 PM |
I'm sure Gillette is a major advertiser for the magazine and pushed the mag to do this bogus stat article.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 7, 2020 6:13 AM |
Mens Health readers are gym bros. Duh
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 7, 2020 6:19 AM |
I trim - I am generally quite a sweaty man and it keeps me smelling fresher for longer if I trim under there. I also wear vests/tank tops to the gym and don't want to subject other people to my underarm bush in their face when doing things like shoulder press and lat pull-downs, as I know what it's like from seeing other guys who don't trim and it's not pleasant.

Shaving/trimming body hair among male U.S. consumers 2017, by age group
Published by Alexander Kunst, Sep 3, 2019
This statistic shows the results of a Statista survey in which male U.S. respondents were asked if they shave or trim their body hair, sorted by age group. During the June 2017 survey, 59 percent of respondents aged 18 to 29 years reported shaving or trimming their body hair regularly.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | December 7, 2020 11:57 AM |
Men’s Journal is even telling boys to wax.
The majority of girls under 35 see body hair on men gross.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | December 7, 2020 11:59 AM |
Statista is a marketing company. You should give us the methodology (who was sampled and how) rather than the figure which, by itself is meaningless.

When you shave, the sweat has no place to wait until it touches your undershirt, assuming you wear one.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 7, 2020 3:15 PM |
The other night, I watched the Showtime documentary "Macho" about one of my 80's crushes, the Puerto Rican boxer Hector Camacho.
Lots of shots of his sweaty, hairy pits, and I have to admit, it did look kind of weird to me...he seemed like maybe the type of guy who, if he were young today, would probably shave his pits.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | December 7, 2020 11:51 PM |
I use clippers on my pits and trim down under. I do it for convenience sake - I have to wait so long for my armpit hair to dry after a shower to put on deodorant. When buzzed I can immediately apply deodorant. I also feel like BO is a lot less strong when I shave. Just a personal observation
by Anonymous | reply 56 | December 8, 2020 12:03 AM |
You can't dry your pit hair with a towel, R56?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | December 8, 2020 12:05 AM |
Some of you are missing the point that the stat is about men TRIMMING or shaving their armpits. I've only shaved mine once...I either cut them with scissors two or three times a year like a poster above said, or I might be manscaping elsewhere with clippers and decide to take the time to trim my armpit hair. I sweat a lot, and feel cleaner and fresher without all the deodorant-soaked hair under my armpits. (I also end up using a lot less deodorant when I am trimmed under my pits, as the deodorant goes right on my skin instead of soaking the hair.)
by Anonymous | reply 58 | December 8, 2020 1:54 AM |
I shave under my arms maybe once a month after the hair gets too long. I don't like deodorant getting stuck in the hair under my arm.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | December 8, 2020 2:29 AM |

Shaved armpits on a man is not sexy at all. The hair is where the pheromones get trapped. Only David Beckham and La Senatrice Miss Lindsey do this.
